His lips crashed against mine. A wild fire grew from a pit down inside me. I craved more of his touch. My mind and my body at war. My heart screaming at me. M….m…Mate. My body froze against his. He stopped kissing me. His chest falling and rising in rhythm with mine.

“Please don’t go…” His voice is breathless and ragged. His eye burning. My body burns intensely. I couldn’t say anything, so I just nodded. Now shivering I stood back away from Noah.

So,what do you want for dinner?” His eye wild and hair tousled from laying in the sand.

“Honestly?That is what you are going to talk about? Dinner?”

“…Yes…”

“Tori we…”

“I love you Noah. I am sorry I kissed you. I don’t know what came over me.But..th…” He pressed his lips to mine again, and I had to fight the urge to completely give in. His hands roam around my waist under the hem of my top. The sparks across my eyes as he brushes the small of my back.

“I..”Kiss. “Love…” Kiss. “You…” Kiss. My eyes flung open at his confession. My heart stopped. I put my finger against his lips. His face was genuine. He was telling the truth.

“W…we…We should go.” His grip never loosened, his smile widened. I spun around to leave,and he followed directly behind. The sun had disappeared over the water and a small breeze had blown in. My mind was spinning. The touch from his lips still lingered on mine. I felt him watching me as we walked. I didn’t even know where I was walking. Just forward. Keep moving forward. Along the stretch of road between town and home woods creeped up one side met against water in the other.Salt climb up the tree trunks. Small animals scurrying from tree to tree.Silently it crept its way up on them.

She keeps dazing off. Her body is exhausted. I can feel her mind, she is confused and unsure. Her body betrayed her today. What was that? That voice. I watch her from a distance. Her fingers keep touching her lips. Each time she gasps. I feel a ping of happiness. She wanted me. Our mate wanted us. The breeze smells like salt and dirt. I inhale a lung full and smile. But that quickly fades when it is tinted by blood.

“TORI!!!!” From the trees burst a black blur. My heart started pounding my wolf wanted out. It wanted to rip the head of the beast that dare attack her. Before I could reach her the large black blur was on her, teeth clamping down on her shoulder. Blood curdling screams pierce the air, as she grasps for something,anything to grab onto.

Its jaw locked down on my shoulder, I can barely think over the sound of my screams. Tears stream down my face as the wolf digs his teeth deeper and claws my back. The sharp pain slinking through my body replacing every ounce of enjoy and confusion that was there a moment ago. I see Noah running towards me. I try to tell him to run but nothing seems to be coming out of my mouth. His eyes flare scorching red. I have never seen them look like that. The wolf growls pulling back. The loss of blood started to take hold, my eye became heavy and I feel myself slipping away. I feel the murmur of a voice in my mind. Fight Tori, fight him! We are strong fightback! I tired listening to that voice, but my limbs were failing me. I felt the fight going on around me. I heard Noah yelling, but I could no longer make out what his was saying. I felt the beasts teeth get ripped from my shoulder and a scorching hot hand touch the blood covered wounds. Numbness spread through my body like a wild fire and the fog set in. Don’t give in Tori, please fight. Fight for me. Fight for our new life together. Please fight for our mate! That was the last word to ring in my head. Mate… my heart fluttered at that word. I tried opening my eye and failed.I tried saying that I was okay, but words failed my too. I felt Noah’s armed wrapped around me as he carried me. His voice raspy in my ear.

“Hold on Baby…please hold on…”
