Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Darkness crept through the small town silently, families peacefully unaware. Her skin shimmering in the sun as its last few drops descend from the sky were it once held the attention of all. The darkened sky welcomed the change, fur rippled from underneath, my claws protruding from my finger nails. The sound of bones snapping and changing shape.  Run! One word. My wolf repeated it like a mantra. The feeling of the damp moss covering the ground in the thick of the trees. The way my claws dug into the ground projecting me farther. The faint scent of blood lingers in the air. Intoxicating. Its fresh, the scent of death has not filled the air. a faint heart beat can still be heard. From a far a tall mannish figure standing over a small frail lump, slumped over on the ground. In the silence the ringing of a phone pierces the ear. “Yes… Honey, I am on my way home…Yea, I’ll be there shortly. Bye, I love you too.” Snap, the phone was shut and slipped into a pocket without a second thought, he finished cleaning the wet blood off his hands and tossed the handkerchief to the ground. He carelessly, thoughtlessly ended this small woman’s life. No thought, no regret. Just as callously as a beast with no heart. He told the light from another. In the darkness the growling carried along the winds with ease. Confusion filled his face and he searched the empty ally way. Back against the wooded area he left everything exposed. Like a bolt of lightning a jet-black wolf dashed by him.Panicked he bolts to the entrance, quickly the wolf exploded from its stance, ripping into his throat. Claws ripping into flesh, gargled words form. Oneswift bite and the prey is silenced. The sweet taste of flesh and blood lingering in its mouth. Clouding its mind as it runs from the town prancing and playing with the shadows that follow it. The night was young and its fun had only just begun.
