Make ‘A’
To make a fool of oneself; to embarrass oneself.
I held my arms away from my body, feeling like the little kid in that Christmas movie who couldn’t put his arms down. “Uncle Kahana, I look ridiculous. Total make ‘A.’”
“At least you don’t look like Mary Poppins anymore.”
“No. Now I look like some weirdo from outer space.”
Uncle Kahana tilted his head. “Nah, more like the janitor in a bio-tech lab.” He reached out and adjusted my helmet. “Hot?”
“Little bit. Not too bad.”
“Want more sprunch?”
“Yeah.” Uncle Kahana popped open the port window and slipped my straw between my lips. Sweet coldness hit the back of my throat cooling me from the inside out.
“Pau?”
“Yeah. Thanks,” I said.
“Okay. Grab your sketchbook and pencil; we’re leaving the rest of our stuffs her
