Blurb

After I lost my sight in an accident, my usually cold, distant husband suddenly turned red-hot for me. Every single night, he'd gently coax me into trying all kinds of new positions.

That evening, I was curled up in his arms as we soaked in the tub together, hot water sloshing around us, when my vision abruptly clicked back into place. I stared at the teardrop mole right under the man's left eye, and my heart did a full-on somersault in my chest.

That wasn't my husband. That was Gavin, his twin brother.

All these years, every date, every heated make-out session, every night tangled up in the sheets… it had been Gavin all along.

The thing is, though… I'd known the entire time. It wasn't like I had no clue. After all, my real husband never had a ripped eight-pack anyway…

Chapter 1
After I lost my sight, my husband, who'd always been completely uninterested in s*x, suddenly turned insanely affectionate. Every single night, he'd coax me gently into trying all kinds of new positions. That was until tonight, when my vision abruptly came back in the middle of our shared bath. My eyes locked on the teardrop mole below the man's eye, and my heart gave a violent lurch. This wasn't my husband. It was Gavin West, his twin brother. Which meant that for all these years, the man who'd gone on dates with me, kissed me breathless, and held me through every night of tangled intimacy had been him all along. But… I'd known that from the very start. After all, my real husband never had an eight-pack, for one thing. "Honey! My eyes work again!" I put on my best over-the-moon, ecstatic expression. The man in front of me froze for a split second, panic flashing across his face. But when he didn't spot a single odd look on my features, Gavin let out a quiet sigh of relief. He quickly plastered on an equally delighted grin. "Baby, that's amazing! You can see again!" I hummed and nodded, letting my hands roam freely over the hard, defined ridges of his abs. A thick, heavy heat flooded his eyes. His calloused, rough palm splayed over my waist, and his voice dropped to a low, gravelly purr. "Be good, quit running your hands all over me like that…" He leaned in closer, his breath warm against my ear. "Now that you can see again, how about we try something way more exciting tonight, huh?" After a whole night of wild, unhinged passion, he pressed a soft, lingering kiss to my forehead. "Rest up, you must be exhausted. I'll take you to the hospital to get your eyes checked tomorrow, okay?" Flushing bright red, I buried half my face under the covers. I only let my big, shiny, dewy eyes peek out to look up at him. A notification sound cut through the quiet Ding! He glanced down at his phone, and a tiny, almost unnoticeable flicker of panic crossed his face. "Baby, you go to sleep first. I've got some work stuff to take care of." I nodded obediently, and he turned and left the room right away. The second the door clicked shut, I wiped every trace of softness off my face. I tapped open an app on my phone, and their conversation played through loud and clear. "Gideon, why are you calling me right now? Aren't you scared Valerie will find out?" The man on the other end of the line spoke, his voice sharp with the same cold disgust I'd grown all too used to. "She's a blind woman, she can't see a damn thing. What are you even worried about?" Gavin went silent for a beat. "Valerie's vision came back just now." "When did that happen? Why the hell didn't you tell me?" "Just now. I haven't had time to let you know yet. She doesn't suspect a thing." Right after that, I heard the sharp snick of a lighter. It was followed by the low inhale of a cigarette being lit from Gideon's end of the call. "So what even if she does find out? She owes Alessia this, every last bit of it. She left Alessia unable to have kids. Forcing her to pay us back with a child is already being more than generous to her." Gideon paused, his tone hardening. "Gavin, you haven't actually gone and fallen for that woman, have you?" Then, as if a sudden thought hit him, Gideon scoffed bitterly and continued speaking. "Right, how could I forget? You've got that one that got away. You swore you'd never marry anyone but her. No way you'd ever spare Valerie a second glance. It's getting late. Alessia's scared of the dark, I need to get back to her. Don't you dare forget what you promised me." When Gideon hung up, the phone went completely silent. I had no clue what was going through Gavin's head right then. I lay there for a second, replaying every word. Alessia was my younger half-sister, and the woman Gideon had been obsessed with for ages. Gideon and I had been engaged since we were kids. I was so in love with him that I went along with my family's arrangement and married him without a fight. But once we were married, he looked at me with nothing but cold, unfiltered disgust every single time our eyes met. "Don't think just because we're married I'll ever love you. Alessia's the only woman for me," he say. The second I heard Gavin heading back toward the room, I tapped my screen dark and faked being fast asleep. A long, quiet stretch passed. Then, I felt a shadow block out the faint glow of the night light over my face. A soft kiss landed on my lips. It was followed by the man's low, hoarse murmur. "Why couldn't it have been me?"
