Chapter 7Ash silently berated himself as he road his horse back towards the barn, Miriam’s mare in tow. He’d been poised to stand up to Jack – finally ready to fight for what he wanted. But then he’d seen the flash of Jack’s eyes and realized that he couldn’t confront Jack in that moment without revealing his true nature to Miriam.
Ash had come too far with Miriam to lose her now. He’d heard horror stories about Shifters who had revealed themselves to their mates too soon, or under less than ideal circumstances, and had ended up scaring their mates away. Ash refused to allow that to happen with Miriam.
