Chapter twelve: He left her alone in the dark

1312 Words
Vitus looked around at the little lady that had just crashed into his back. He shook his head and tried to surpress a laugh. Leila took a step back and dusted her self down. "You waited.." she said breathlessly. Vitus snapped back to reality, "A deals a deal, now I'm taking you home." He said grimly. He strode down the street, Leila had to speed walk to keep up. Vitus' bodyguards seemed to have no problem keeping up with them whatsoever. Suddenly, Vitus stopped, he grabbed a helmet off a nearby motorcycle and thrusted it into Leilas hands, then he took a second one and was about to put it on when Leila spoke "Why do we need helmets?" She asked confused. "You asked me to take you home. That's what I'm doing, taking you home." Vitus frowned. The penny dropped and Leila looked at Vitus and then at the motorcycle. It had two seats. "I am NOT getting on that THING!" Leila exclaimed. Vitus sighed and looked deep into Leila's eyes "Leila, first you want to interview me, then you ask me to leave you alone forever but only after I've taking you home and now you don't want to get on my Harley. I'm starting to get sick of these childish games." He said flatly. He swung his leg over the saddle and pulled his helmet over his head. Then he beckoned to his bodyguards to do the same, they both got on their motorcycles, which were parked further behind his. "Are you coming or not?!" Vitus asked Leila angrily. Leila shook her head. Vitus started his bike, revved up the engine and sped away without looking back. His two bodyguards followed. Leila stood on the pavement with the helmet in her hands. Tears swelled in her eyes. How could he just leave me?! She asked herself. He knows I was kidnapped, he must know I'm scared to walk home in the dark. She wiped away her tears and took out her phone. She typed in a number and it rang "Leila? Are you ok?" "Not really" she answered, the tears now running freely down her cheeks. "Where are you?" "I have just passed cups and spoons" she sobbed. "Wait there, I'm coming." Leila put the phone down and sat down in the doorway of the coffee shop. She clutched the helmet tightly in one hand and held her head with the other. . . . . . Vitus took his helmet off and got off his motorbike. He took out his phone: "Find Leila. Watch her. Report back to me for as long as I say so." He barked his orders into the phone before hanging up and marching through the underground car park into the hotel. "Good evening Sir" Mr. Lebedew greeted Vitus with a small bow, who then returned a nod respectfully. Christoff Lebedew had been Igor Sorokin's butler, when he died, Christoff had agreed to stay and work for Vitus. He had always liked Vitus and Vitus had always trusted Lebedew, he had known him since he had been a small child. Vitus knew that trust wasn't easy to come by in the world of the heaven's devils. His father had always said, "trust is rare and can't be bought. Loyalty can only be forced for a short amount of time and shouldn't be bought." These were one of the very few things Vitus had agreed with his father on. "I won't be needing anything else this evening, Lebedew, you can retire for the evening." Vitus said calmly. "Very well Sir" the butler answered respectfully. He had known Vitus long enough to know that Vitus was wearing a calm and collected mask, there was a storm brewing inside of him, Lebedew just didn't know why and it certainly wasn't he place to ask. Just as Vitus walked into his office his phone rang: "Did you find her?" He asked "Yes, a young lad was sat next to her in the doorway of "Cups and spoons", he had her arm around her, she was crying." Vitus grunted. "He took her home, I recorded their coversation" the man on the other end continued. "Send the recording over" Vitus said sharply and hung up. Vitus couldn't think straight, his hands were starting to shake. His emotions had come crashing into his thoughts and body, he was furious that some young lad was touching his girl, he was furious that he wasn't touching his girl, he was furious that she wasn't his girl and he was furious that he had been so stupid and ridden away from her, even if she wasn't his girl. His phone beeped and he opened the recording. "Come on, you can tell me on the way back to your place" a young male voice said, Vitus fist clenched. "He just left, Vitus, just left" he could hear Leila was crying, he opened his fist and rubbed his face, why did I leave her, he asked himself. She only wanted you to take her home and then she would of left you, a voice was saying inside of his head. Vitus paused the recording. The memory of her telling him to never speak to her or see her again replayed in his mind. He had to know what else she had said, he pressed play. "Dimitri and Julie, they all told me to stay away from him. I tried to, I did. I told him I never wanted to see him again. I didn't think he'd just leave me in the dark all alone." She cried. Vitus inhaled sharply "well done, *ssh*le" he said out loud, "since when do you leave innocent women to fend for themselves?! She even asked you to take her home." Vitus groaned. He tried to shake off his thoughts. Even if he had taken her home and even if she had wanted to see him again, what would it of changed?! He didn't do girlfriends, he didn't do relationships and he certainly didn't do virgins. On the recording Leila's voice continued explaining what had happened in the last few days. After a small break, she spoke impassively, "I don't even know why I'm in so much pain. "It's not like I knew him for long, I didn't even know him well.." she trailed off. Deep inside Vitus knew why she was so upset. She liked him. She really liked him. He was the first man that she, Leila, had really really liked. But she couldn't like him. She wasn't allowed to like him. Everyone had warned her about him. And they were right to. Vitus knew he was an *ssh*le, it's better she stays away from me, he thought. "I thought he liked me too." She whispered, he could hear the tears brimming her eyes. "Maybe he does." The man's voice answered solemnly. "You should of seen how he looked at me when I said I was a virgin. It was like I told him I have a deadly contagious illness." "He might just not know how to show his feelings." "He showed his feelings alright, he got on that death machine faster than lightning" "Hmm" the young lad obviously didn't know what to say. Vitus shuddered as he thought about how he had reacted when she had implied that she was a virgin. He wanted Leila's first love to love her back. But who was he kidding, it really didn't look like he had any positive feelings for Leila, after all he had just left her alone in the dark. The recording stopped. Vitus got up and kicked the chair across the room. "F*ck" he swore and punched a hole in the wall before scraping his hands through his hair. "I can't be her first love! I can't be! I'm not f*cking a virgin! I'll only hurt her" he sighed.
