Chapter one
Lorren’s POV “Congratulations Mrs Lillard, you are three weeks pregnant.” The doctor said as my smile spread across my cheeks. I was very excited at the news that I took my phone sending Damian a message before thanking the doctor and left her office. He’ll be so happy to learn about this news. After two years of trying, at first it was just a contractuated marriage but soon, we found ourselves loving each other. And I’ll say it has to be the beginning of the best moment in our lives. I stepped outside the hospital as my driver pulled over with my car coming out to open the door for me. Damian was yet to reply my message so I resend another one, “Come home early today, I have a good news to tell you about.” I sent the message. I breathed in before starting to drift off to sleep. The stopping of the car made me open my eyes, home sweet home. I got out of the car before going into the mansion. At first it was a little bit quiet until I heard laughter from the kitchen. I traced the laugh and found Damian cooking in the kitchen with a blonde headed girl. “Who’s she?” I thought, I didn’t realize I had said it out loud until they both faced me. The happiness on their faces dropped. “Lorren…” Damian paused, he took his lips in and looked at me for a while before facing the girl whispering something into her ears. She relunctantly agreed and left to the bedroom upstairs. “We need to talk Lorren.” I agreed to his words and we both worked to the sitting room. “I’m listening.” For some reasons, I was scared. There was this doubt of feelings in my mind making me very scared and uncomfortable. “I know you knew, we both agreed to start a new family, to love and cherish each other discarding the contract between us…” He paused and continued. “But it was impossible Lorren, I found out I’m still in love with Bella and now that she’s back, I want to start again with her.” He dropped the bombshell. My mouth went opened in shock unable to process his words. I didn’t think I was ever ready for the day he’ll call me for this words. I had fallen in love with him totally forgetting about the part of us being contracted to each other, I wanted something real and he did also. Where did we gone wrong? “Wait, are you meaning to tell me you aren’t interested anymore in this and who’s Bella?” I tried to be as natural as I could. “You saw her earlier. Listen Lorren, I know I failed you, it shouldn’t have to resort to this but Bella said she doesn’t want to be a mistress.” “She wanted something real and I’m ready to give it to her even if it’ll cost me this marriage.” Now my tears were starting to stream down my cheeks, I stood up in shock. “What do you mean?” My voice trembled trying to assure myself everything was going okay. “Let’s get a divorce Lorren.” He finally said the words I was scared of, I shook my head negatively. “No, not true. That have to be a lies, or a joke, are you trying to prank me?” I lashed out, I look behind him, the girl was now downstairs but staring at the two of us without leaving the staircase. “I’m sorry.” “I just want to be with her.” His words kept ringing on my head, I didn’t want to believe him but I knew it was real. I had lost him, to her. “Have you forgotten everything we shared?” “Is there something I’m doing wrong that you hated? Or am I not perfect for you?” I asked him several questions at once. “Or was she the one? Is she threatening you? What does she have that I don’t? Is something going wrong at the company…” “LORREN.” He interrupted my words. “You need to face the reality, we weren’t meant to be together from the beginning, you were just my secretary that I contracted to be my wife in order to clear the rumors going around about me and I paid you enough for that.” “You said what?” I couldn’t believe the words that just came out from his mouth. “Divorce?” I stared at the man in front of me in shock wondering if he had gone crazy all of a sudden. Asking me for a divorce all a sudden when I’ve done nothing wrong and I have always tried to keep to myself is something I couldn’t have imagined. “Yea, you heard me right. This…” He pointed to the document in his hand, “It’s a divorce paper in which I’ll love for you to sign now without any more issues.” He completed his statement. “You were only after my wealth from the beginning, you never really loved me.” That was all he had to say. I knew I had lost him totally. I staggered in shock as h held the tip of the sitting chair to balance myself to stop myself from falling down. The love. The promises. The renewal of oath. The laughter. The tears and the memories. Everything was fake. “Damian.” I called but nothing seem to come out from my mouth, just the soft whisper of my words. I doubt he could hear it also. “You want to leave me for her because you thought I am after your wealth.” I pointed at Bella standing far from us. She started walking towards us. When she got to where we stayed, she stopped. “I’m so sorry Lorren, I shouldn’t have come back to destroy your marriage.” She faked innocence, her eyes starting to want to shed tears but I wasn’t moved. I know this trick a lot, it’s used to seduce guys. I just shook my head closing my eyes to stop the tears that was threatening to fall. “If you knew then why come? You don’t have to apologize when it’ll be fake also.” I retorted back in pains. I didn’t want to regret saying yes to the contract marriage, or me ever thinking we could be real lovers and now my children are involved. “You didn’t have to insult her back either, you could have just faced me, don’t pass your aggressions to her.” Damian interceded. “If you knew you loved her so much, why did you desperately wanted this to be real and make me feel so miserable ever starting to love you? Why did you show me i could be loved? Just why?” My tears was now falling more. I couldn’t breathed properly as I guide myself with the chair beside me. “Lorren.” “Please, just tell me you ever felt something for me. That all we built was not all a lie but it was real.” I tried to change his mind but he looked away. “Never true.” He answered dropping a document on the table, “I signed my own part of the divorce agreement. It’s left with only your turn and we’ll both be free.” He added pointing at the document and the pen beside it. I stared blankly at the document on the table, a pen was beside it. “I’m pregnant.” I announced.
