We head into my fathers office and we all take a seat. As beta we live in the packhouse on the second floor as the Alpha and Luna live above us on the Third floor. Each floor has its own kitchen and multiple rooms for their families, with different sections of the floors my room is up a small flight of stairs to its self. I sit there anxiously waiting because I can sense the intense seriousness of the conversation about to happen. My dad takes in a deep breath and looks at me as mom places a hand on mine.

"Ayla, I'm sure you've noticed that you've always been a bit faster and stronger than the others, we've always chaulked it up to you being a betas daughter but there is something we never told you. There was only a small chance it would happen and we didnt want to worry until we had to. Your great great grandma was a special wolf. Her name was Esmerelda, Im sure you have heard others talk about wolfs with special gifts, well she was one of them. The moon goddess blesses us every so often with special wolfs when the time is right. Each one is unique and blessed in their own way. Their power is said to be so strong they must be protected because people will try to kill them. I never wanted this for you, but your wolfs name being her nickname leads us to believe this has been passed to you also."

I couldn't belive what I was hearing. My brain starts running a million miles per hour taking into account my training as a betas daughter. I never wanted to be a warrior but I wanted to know how to protect myself so I would train two days a week with the others. I was always fast and could take someone down with ease. Im small but pretty naturally athletic, I havent thought much about it, I just assumed being a betas daughter it was normal.

I look up at my mom then my dad. "What does this all mean, my wolf told me this morning there was some stuff I needed to know but said to wait til I shift tonight to see. Am I in danger, you said people try to kill wolfs with abilities?!" My mom takes my other hand, "Calm down Ayla weve been preparing for this, the Alpha knows this was possible and we have precautions in place to ensure your safety, we wont know for sure until tonight when you shift but we wanted to tell you now before everything was a total shock."

"I told you we'd see tonight when we shift," Esme says. I shove her back down and decide I'll deal with her later. "I need a nap, I'm overwhelmed and just need some time for myself before Lana gets here to help me get ready for tonight" I quickly get up and head to my room. I feel like my breakfast might reappear if I don't calm down. I grab my cell and text Lana to be here around 3, my party is at 4 and its 12 now, I hop into the bath to calm my mind and nerves. I dont care what anyone says a bubble bath can cure anything!

As I sit in the bath and think about the last 24 hours my stomach drops, what if I find my mate but he doesn't want someone who he will constantly have to protect. What if I'm too much, the fear of rejection sinks in and swallows me whole. I could potentially have to live a life alone because of who I might be, its not my fault I might possess some power. Speaking of, if I have an ability I wonder what it can be? Maybe I can time travel, I smile a little as I keep thinking to myself of all the scenarios, maybe I can move things with my mind, that would be awesome. I try to calm my nerves, I believe in my Dad and this pack. The Blood Moon pack is one of the biggest packs in the United States. If I am a white wolf, I will hold so much responsibility and the pack will be in danger too...I feel so overwhelmed.
