New Military

Jack O'Neill walked into Homeworld Command, and was surprised to see that he had a meeting he was supposed to be in already. He quickly made his way to thenconference room, and was surprised to see the President standing next President Storm and the rest of the ruling Council.

"Apologies, I was not aware a meeting had been scheduled until I arrived." Jack said setting his briefcase down and saluting them.

"No apologies General. The meeting wasn't scheduled until the final passage 10 minutes ago, amd because of your current schedule we had to ensure we did this before your departure." President Hayes said stepping forward with an envelope and handing it to him. "Because of circumstances, you are hereby ordered to retire effectively immediately. You will receive your pension, and are hereby released from the United States Airforce." he said saluting Jack who returned it as President Storm approached.

"Thank you sir, it has been my honor to serve in the way I have." Jack said before shaking his hand as he stepped back.

"Jack O'Neill, the Tau'ri Defense Force has been established, and we would like to offer you the post of Atlantis Expeditonary Forces Commander." President Storm said handing him the offer envelope as another of the Ruling Council held a newly designed and created uniform for him.

"I accept President Storm, it would be an honor to serve the people of Earth." Jack said shaking his hand before Saluting.

"Your team is already assembled, and for the moment several battalions of Stargate Operations and Homeworld Command will assist in the defense of Langara. Atlantis will be ready for departure in 14 hours, that is the time you have to select your overall command staff. General Carter has been selected to command Atlantis itself, and will report to you. Good luck General." President Storm said before he was handed the new uniform.

"I have a feeling there will be many more discussions about coordinating this attack today and over the course of the next few weeks. Has anyone else under the commands been informed yet?" he asked.

"So far only the Commanders of each of the branches. Each of you will be responsible for informing the troops in your respective commands. Each of them will have their orders for seperation or retirement for their troops, as well as the offer letters from the new Tau'ri Defense Forces." President Storm informed him. "You may inform them how and when you are ready, although we would appreciate it done as quickly as possible."

"It will be done before we depart for Destiny. I will also need to coordinate the transfer of duties to your new selections for the different departments. As I understand it as the Commander of Homeworld Command they are mostly under my command now." Jack explained.

"Absolutely correct General, and that meeting is scheduled for a few hours from now. Your duties will be split between the Homeworld Defense Division, Atlantis Expeditionary Forces, and Stargate Operations. Atlantis will be responsible for protecting us from Intergalactic threats, primarily for now the Wraith in Pegasus. Most of the ships will be part of Stargate Operations, and their mission will be to protect us from Interstellar threats both through the Stargate and with the ships." President Storm told him. "There will be a lot of changes and challenges as we convert over to the new systems and as we progress with the new technologies. But we will cover all of that later."

"General O'Neill, if you will come with me we can discuss what your responsibilities will be as the Commander of the Atlantis Expeditionary Forces." Richard Woolsey said as he entered the room.

"Please tell me that I will not be dealing with the same bureaucracy as before?" Jack said to them all.

"There will still be regulations we will have to follow, but you have wide latitude to deal with the threats as you see fit." Woolsey told him as the others began leaving the conference room.

6 hours later Jack walked into the Command Meeting for the new Tau'ri Defense Forces, and looked around. General Carter, General Caldwell, General Telford, and General Young were all present. "Afternoon everyone, I assume you are all aware why we are here?" he asked them.

They all confirmed they did, and he saw the different patches indicating the different divisions they now represented.

"General O'Neill, I think I can speak for all of us when I say it has been a unique day." General Telford said as the new Commander of the Milky Way Space Force and the rest of them agreed.

"That it has Telford, and you will notice those of us in this room hold the same rank. We will be working together like never before, and we will all be working towards the same goal. Excluding the Daedalus, Orion, Phoenix, Sun Tzu, and Hammond, all ships will be abled to be deployed by any of the branches. You will need to coordinate them between yourselves to confront any threats we face here. Do any of you have any questions about your new responsibilities?" he asked as he sat the folders down for each of them.

"I will have the most questions, as I am assuming most of your duties." General Caldwell said. "That being said excluding your forces, they will all be ultimately managed by me. As General O'Neill said we will be working together more closely than ever before. A lot of red tape has been removed as we must decide how we respond without being able to run to the chain of command for answers."

"It is an honor to be among such a prestigious group. With the new tech we will be able to coordinate more effectively than ever before. With the subspace system and the Communication Stones we will always be abke to communicate no matter how distant we may be. General Young, as soon as the Battle for Langara is finished you will take command from Eli again. Because of the changes we will be sending supplies, and you will need to depart the area for recharge prior to our departure. We hope that the act of us dialing will draw some of the ships away from their positions, and than our arrival will draw more." General O'Neill told him.

"Yes sir, hopefully with the repairs we will withstand the drones far better than we did before. With supplies we should be able to meet Atlantis wherever is decided after you perform your scans." General Young replied.

"Excellent, we will have the 5 ships with us as we depart, and they will provide securoty should it be needed. How long until the Florence and Fireball are ready?" he asked Carter as she had been leading the construction kf the newest ships.

"3 days, they should both be ready for the battle. It will bring our total to 18 battle ships for the battle. 10 will be in orbit in 3 days, the other 8 will be held in reserve to plug the 4 escape avenues the Lucian Alliance would be able to use after their attack begins." she replied.
