Battle for Langara

Jack arrived on Atlantis, and was glad they had slent the last week maneuvering away from the coast. They were finally in position far enough away from land to launch Atlantis.

John Sheoherd had been promoted to Lt. General, and would be managing Stargate Operations aboard Atlantis for the Pegasus Galaxy. He was sitting in the Command Chair, and was surprised at how responsive the city was now that they had unlocked it and elected the Council. The ZPMs gave him a significant amount of power, amd they had done a lot of repairs while it had been Earth bound.

"Sir, all personnel are aboard and we are prepared for departure." General Carter said in the Operations tower. "Airspace has been cleared from our departure corridor."

"Very well, whenever you are ready General." he replied as he sat in one of the chairs to observe.

"Raise shields, General Shepherd take us out." she said as the shields raised.

The city began shaking as Shepherd prepared the city for takeoff after it had undergone extensive repairs. The engines fired and the city began rising into the air as they watched.

It did not take long and the city cleared the atmosphere, before Shepherd set the course for Atlantis to go straight to Langara. For several hours the city flew through hyperspace, no hesitation in the engines after they had failed when headed to the Milky Way 2 years previously. Jack took it as a good sign when they emerged from hyperspace exactly when and where they were meant too.

4 hours later President Hunter landed in one of the Puddle Jumpers after being flown in from the mainland. They had cloaked as soon as they made it into the atmosphere, hoping that the Lucian Alliance did not have cloaked cargo ships in the area to spot the City landing on Langara.

"Very impressive General, until we actually entered the city I could not see a thing." She said as she entered thencommand center from the jumper bay.

"Let us hope that our approach was undetected as well as our landing. With the weapons we have available now it will hopefully be an easy matter to get them to surrender." Jack replied as she looked around. "Ambassadors, it is good to see you. Let us talk before we take a tour." he said leading the way into the conference room.

"General, there is likely not much more that can be said about the immediate topics of concern to us." Ambassador Ovirda said as the doors closed begind them and they sat down.

"Well than it is a good thing we will be discussing the events that will occur after we attempt the dialing as I am sure none of our positions have changed regarding that. You may have noticed, but the uniforms we are wearing have significantly changed. After Atlantis departs Langara you will have a new Ambassador that you will be working with. I will no longer be available as I will not often be inside this galaxy for the foreseeable future." Jack said to them.

"That is unfortunate, who will this person be?" President Hunter asked.

"General Steven Caldwell will be the overall commander of the new Tau'ri Defense Forces, and he will be selecting the person that is your Ambassador." Jack replied to them.

"What happened to make the change?" Jonas asked curious.

"The Stargate was revealed to the public of Earth. As such it has necessitated changes within our orginization, and the Galaxy will feel these changes." Jack told them all. "It is fortunate we were able to reach our agreement prior to the changes, otherwise they would have not been ratified in time." he said with a wry smile.

"Will Atlantis be used to defend Langara?" Ovirda asked.

"As soon as they begin the attack we will be decloaking and launching drones. We will extend our shields as far as we are safely able, but should be in position to protect the most vulnerable areas of the area." Jack answered.

For 4 days they waited with the city cloaked, before the ships of the Lucian Alliance dropped out of hyperspace on the outer edges of the system. 38 Ha'taq purposefully made their way into the system, not able to detect the Earth ships that were using every advantage they could to avoid the sensors until it was too late for them. The Jaffa Nation did not have ships available, as they were now launching an attack against the remaining ships of the Lucian Alliance.

Jack smiled as they watched the ships close in, and as soon as they crossed the threshold the trap was sprung.

Just as they entered maximum range for Langara they detected the first of the Earth vessels, just as the 8 closed every one of their escape routes.

"All ships engage the fleet." Colonel Masters aboard the Pheonix ordered from orbit. The 8 ships knew they were not part of that order as they were not a part of the attack fleet. Just as the other ships moved from their covers the Ha'taq launched death gliders as they moved to attempt their attack with a concerted effort.

Atlantis decloaked and raised shields just as a wave of hundreds of drones was launched from the city to intercept the gliders, bombers amd transports that had been launched.

"Ready to broadcast General." Dr. McKay shouted over the noise inside the city as they responded to the arrival of the atyack fleet.

"Lucian Alliance ships, this is General Jack O'Neill odmf the Tau'ri Defense Forces. Langara is under our protection, and you are advised to surrender or die. Power down your weapons and shields and you will nlt be destroyed. Failure to do so within 60 seconds will result in your destruction. Any further acts of agression will result in your destruction. You have 60 seconds to decide." he said knowing that they would be able to hear him on their ships.

They watcjed the sensors carefully as the Pheonix, Sun Tzu, Odyssey, Daedalus and Prometheus all opened up with beam weapons on the ships that fired on them. The beams cut straight through the shields, and the glow of the ships could be seen from the surface before they exploded spectacularly from the destructive power of the ZPM powered ships. Their shields were still at full strength, and the combined fore power of the entire fleet would likely not be enough to overwhelm the ships shields.

The 18 ships were all now in position, and after 7 of them had been destroyed over half would be destroyed if they opened fire.

"Sir, we are being hailed." McKay said from the communications console.

"On screen." he said simply as the laptop screen came to life.

"General O'Neill, I am Captain Strolm of the Lucian Alliance. What are your terms?" he asked furious that they had been so fully duped. Their entire landing force had been obliterated, and it was not likely any of them would survive an attempt to escape the system.

"Unconditional surrender. You will be held until it is determined you will no longer be a threat and returned to your homes." Jack replied to him knowing 31 Ha'taq would be a major boon to the Langaran People.

Captain Strolm knew the terms would be generous as stated. "Open a channel to the fleet." he ordered while looking at General O'Neill.

"Open." the comms officer stated.

"This is Captain Strolm, power down weapons and shields. Our objectives are unobtainable and our lives are not worth risking for the Alliance." he said before he cut the link to his fleet.

Within moments a dozen of the ships broke formation and made for one of the escape routes, and were subsequently destroyed as soon as they cleared thw remainder of the fleet. Each ship took a direct hit from one of the beam weapons before being utterly destroyed in the resulting detonations. The remaining 19 dropped their shields and powered down thekr weapons, knowing they would be destroyed with as much ease as they had shown.

"Any further actions are the crews themselves General, deal with them as you see fit. We are prepared to surrwnder the ships to you and will cooperate fully." Captain Strolm said.

"We will be beaming your people down to an undisclosed location. They are to disarm within 5 minjtes when we will begin the transportation. If any weapons are discovered that person will be dealt with harshly." General O'Neill warned him.

"I will inform them General." Captain Strolm declared before he closed the channel.
