Eli returned to Destiny after they had scheduled his transfer with Zalenka, and he would spend 3 days on Atlantis to perform his research. He had a few hours before it occurred, and he decided to spend the time tending to the plants in the aeroponics bay. He knew his only chance of survival was these plants to convert the CO2, and provide the sustenance he would need once the non perishables ran out.
He went to the corner of the room where the nutrients were stored, and realized the container was nearly empty. He emptied it, and for the first time noticed a feint blue light eminating from the center of the bottom panel. He touched the light, and felt a small button click before the sides of the ancient container fell away. Ignoring what he had been doing, he examined each of the panels carefully and noticed each of them had the exact same button in the center. He put thenedges of them together so that the panels made a solid piece of the floor, and triggered the button of the center one.
The light turned back on, and the magnetic locks sealed the four walls to the base as they all lay on the floor. Eli attempted to lift it, to fond it was also magnetically sealed to the floor in this circumstance.
He pushed the button again, and each of the panels seperated from the center and he could move them easily as they weighed only a few pounds a piece. He decided to experiment further, and placed one of them on its side straight into the air, and activated the magnetic seal. As soon as he did, he was unable to move the piece even a little. It was completely locked onto the exact spot he had sealed it.
He grabbed another panel from the floor, and set its edge on top of the other. He was a little surprised he could maneuver it with a little effort, until he pushed the button in the center of that panel. It locked in place, and Eli could not move it no matter what effort he expended. He grabbed the other 3 panels and slid them into a pattern before activating them, and was pleased when he had a solid wall. He quickly deactivated them all, and piled them quickly before emptying another of the containers, pleased that it worked the same way.
He grabbed the pile and his control tablet, and made his way to the sealed corridor where the aliens had breached the hull. It only took a few minutes walking, and he set the panels down when he reached the door with the yellow light. He turned the shield strength up here, and was glad the light turned green and allowed him to enter.
Eli grabbed the tablet, and left the shield info for this corridor on the screen. He quickly found something to stand on, and lifted the first panel into place. He made sure it was completely covering the one side of the hole before he activated the magnetic seal. He felt it lock and let go before grabbing another. It took 5 of the 8 panels he had brought, and as soon as the last was in place and the hole completely covered the shield automatically lowered in this corridor. The other door panel turned green as well, and he knew he had discovered one way he could potentially survive. It would be long work, but now he knew how they would seal the hull breeches.
He ran to the aeroponics vay with the tablet, and quickly wrote a note about the containers and properties to Zalenka before it was time for their communications stone activation. He was already keyed to it with the machine on so he would connect automatically when the time came. Just as he finished he found himself opening his eyes in Atlantis with Dr. MaKay looking at him.
"Eli, good to see you again. Lets get started shall we?" Rodney asked as they were already in the main database room. Eli sat at one of the laptops, and quickly became irritated with the display. He was used to Ancient tech and their displays, so he moved to it.
"Hello Rodney, so this is Atlantis huh?" Eli asked as he looked around.
"Yes it is, now you can use whichever display you wish. I know you are used to working with the Ancient tech in a way we aren't." Rodney said. "Unfortunately it seems the Destiny files are behind a Council Seal."
Eli nearly cursed as he ran the search and it pulled up the list of results. Eli encountered the Seal Release prompt on the screen, and issued several queries into the computer. He worked for several minutes before he laughed a little, and began typing into the password field. Rodney scoffed a little as Eli did this, as they had been attempting to c***k this password for years with no success.
Eli placed his hand on the pad after he finished typing, and Rodney was shocked when the screen turned green and opened the file. He watched in real time as it decrypted into Lantean, and hus computer went nuts as it downloaded the newly unlocked files. "Well that was easy." Eli said as he pulled open the main files.
Rodney was stunned speechless for several moments as he began looking through the files of the Destiny project that had eluded him for months. "How did you do that?" Rodney asked incredulous. He activated his radio before he spoke again. "General Carter and Colonel Shepherd to research lab 1 stat." he said before keying it off.
"It was a derivation of the Destiny main control code. Without the work on that, it would have been next to impossible to break that. When Insaw it I knew the encryption was nearly the same, it was a matter of using that knowledge and applying it." Eli explained as he continued looking through the data.
It took Carter and Shepherd nearly 5 minutes to get to the lab, and Rodney found he had access to the entire classified portion now. He had already initiated the transfer of the data when they walked in.
"Rodney, what is going on?" John Shepherd asked as he walked in and sat down.
"Eli Wallace just cracked the Lantean Council Seal, and we are now downloading and transferring the decrypted files. We now have full access to the city mainframe!" Rodney said excitedly.
"How in the world did you manage that?" Samantha asked as she had spent several years on it.
"For me it was rather easy, however without doing the work to c***k the main controls of Destiny you would have little chance of success. Rodney, have you ever been to the engineerimg section of the city?" Eli asked curious.
Rodney shook his head. "Under Council..." he teailed off as he looked at Eli. "You don't think?" he asked surprised.
"It is the passcode, and we know what it is now. As far as the city is concerned we are authorized citizens now." Eli replied smiling. "Plus the files I need are stored locally there."
"Wait, you mean that with that code we now have full access?" John asked curious.
"Should we go find out? We thought for a long time that the factories were in the engineering section. If we are right we should be able to go inside and begin production if we have the resources." Rodney said rubbing his hands together.
"Slow down, you think the Ancient factories are in Engineering?" Sam asked wondering.
"Yes, we know they could make drones, and ZPMs, and all sorts of things. We however have never found any equipment for either of them inside the city. The only logical place left is above the engine bays in the outer piers." Rodeny answered as that was where most of the sealed engineering sections were located.
"What do you need?" Carter asked.
"If we find it, another research team to determine what is there. If we are still departing in just over a month we will need every moment to go through whats here." Rodney said as he mapped out wjere the door was again.
"Lets see if we can get in first, than we will determine what we need." Carter said as she was still in charge of Atlantis and would be for the next Expedition.
It took them 30 minutes to get to the primary access point that controlled all of them, and Eli quickly walked up to the control panel and punched in the code. As soon as he did the panel turned green, and the large double doors opened to reveal exactly what Rodney had hoped. Atlantis was a technological marvel, and they had just found the machinery necessary to make their own.
Carter, Shepherd, McKay and Eli all walked in with Rodney getting excited at the first machine they walked up to. It activated with his touch, and it was quickly apparent to him that this was the machine they used to create ZPMs. He quickly looked through the supplies on hand, and smiled as he realized they had enough to create nearly 50 ZPMs.
"How many ZPMs would be a fair split? Half, 3 quarters?" he asked them in general.
"How many could you make?" Sam asked him.
"According to this, 50 of them. It would take me a few days to get my bearings, and than we could produce 2 a day or so according to this." he said as he continued reading.
Eli walked ahead as he saw the terminal he needed, and walked over to it. Fortunately Zalenka had the gene, and the console activated for him as soon as he touched it. Eli quickly searched for and found the files, and began researching what he needed for Destiny. He had full access to the schematics, blueprints, upgrades they had designed for Destiny after it had been launched. Shepherd came over with him, and they looked at the ship progression from Destiny to the Aurora class and knew that they would be able to incorporate a lot of the deaigns into their technology as well.
"Are those the designs for city ships?" John asked Eli as Sam and Rodney were coordinating the peiple thatbwould be switched over to work in the different sections.
"Yes they are, there are roughly two dozen different base designs for different functions. If what I am seeing here is an indicator, there are designs for hundreds of ships, weapons systems, shields, satellites, all of it." Eli told him as he pulled open the Destiny files. "There is still a seal on some of the mission details, but the designs are unlocked which is what I need."
Eli began researching what he needed, amd lost track of what was going on around him. The scientists and others arrived and began cataloging everything that were in the different piers of the city. He worked for 16 hours before he looked up, and saw dozens of people working around him before he found Rodney still working with the ZPM machine.
"How's it going Eli?" Rodney asked without looking up.
"Tired, going to go get some sleep and start fresh in a few hours. Just hope I can finish what I need before Zalenka is finished." Eli said leaning against the console.
"I will have someone escort you to the guest quarters set up for you." Rodney said going back to work.
3 days later Eli finally finished the research he needed to do for the shields, weapons, stellar plasma, and hull repairs. He walked up to the ZPM station and was surprised that Rodney was in the process of having the first one created. His team of 6 was working feverishly as the machine worked making it. Generals O'Neill and Carter were standing nearby as it made it, and they were all shocked when it came out of the machine.
Rodney grabbed it and placed it immediately into a machine he had for analyzing them. It took a few minutes before the readouts came out, and he smiled. It held 30 percent more power than the ones they had ever found, and he knew it would be the first game changer.
"My projections were spot on General, with your permission we will make the rest for the Homeworld Program." Rodney said as he pulled it from the machine and set it on the counter.
"Proceed Rodney, we need to make 35 of them for immediate dispersal. 5 if them will be used here for the first part if the plan. What do you need to begin the calculations for a wormhole jump to Destiny?" O'Neill asked him.
"I would need to know the exact location, and where we wish to rendezvous. As I understand it the Drone ships can track the eminations of wormholes?" Rodney asked.
"Exactly, but that is part of what Zalenka is doing. We will also be taking 5 Deadalus Class ships that have been built with all of the Azgard improvements built in. As well as the ability to interact with ZPMs for additional power. We just need the calculations done, and you have a month to complete them. If necessary we will use the ZPMs in our ships and defend Destiny when the drone ships arrive." Jack said as he had been working on the details with Carter.
"If I can get the repairs substantially completed we will have a much better fighting chance. Chloe would be able to assist greatly as she has experience calculating FTL jumps. The best solution would probably be a wormhole to the edge of the Galaxy and hyperspace to Destiny's location. It may draw some of the drones from their positions as well and allow Destiny to recharge." Eli suggested.
"Eli, assuming we can reach you within 60 days, how many people could your supplies support?" Carter asked.
Eli sighed as he had considered that. "No more than 3 more. Chloe would be my recommendation for one of them, as well as Rush."
"Agreed, waken Colonel Young as well. He will use the communication stones for the majority to allow another engineer to assist with the repairs. How long will you need to get everything in place?" Jack asked him.
"Give me 12 hours, that way Chloe can memorize the location where you will need to arrive at. After that I assume thencity sensors will ne able to locate us?" Eli asked.
"Yes, we will get it from there. We will have 2 engineers ready to connect in 12 hours so wake everyone up and get them ready. Despite his rank you will be in command Eli, make sure you repair as much as you can." Jack said before he picked up his radio. "Terminate the stones."
