Arrival In Pegasus

The City exited the wormhole at the original Lantean Planet where it had been submerged in the Ocean. As soon as they exited the 5 Daedalus Class ships departed, flying through the shields as their shields had been adapted to allow it. General O'Neill was on the bridge as the satellite from the Replicators was destroyed before the city moved into position for landing. "Shepherd, take us as close to the original position as you can. McKay, as soon as we land reconnect the Stargate, it is long past time that we get back online." he ordered them. Shepherd set course, and the city responded like a dream as it entered the atmosphere of the planet. He landed without incident about 100 meters from the position Atlantis had held for thousands of years, if not millions. Destiny was still on its landing pad, as it was not set to depart for several weeks as the supplies were transferred. "ZPM levels are at 48 percent of standard after the jump. We will be good for some time with the 3 of them. Stargate is connected to the network again as well." Rodney said as it came online. "Dial the Genai Homeworld." O'Neill ordered immediately. "Yes sir." McKay replied knowing the address already. The Stargate connected as soon as Rodney hit the button. "Broadcast a signal." he said before Rodney pushed a few buttons and nodded. "Genai Command, this is General O'Neill of the Atlantis Expeditionary Forces, please respond." he said confident. It took a few minutes, and O'Neill repeated the request several times before they received a response. "Atlantis this is Laydon Radim, I wish I could be certain it was you, but reports are it left two years ago. How do you suggest we end this stalemate?" he asked certain it was a trap. "We can send two representatives that you may be familiar with. They can escort you back for talks if you are satisfied." O'Neill offered as Shepherd entered the command center. "Agreed. We are ready to receive them." Laydon replied. "Shepherd, take McKay. Bring them back, we need current intel and allies." Jack said as the two went down to the embarkation room. Shepherd refused the g*n, knowing where he was going amd dealing with. He had recognized the voice. They stepped through the Stargate, and walked into a Genii stronghold around the gate. 30 men had weapons trained on them as the gate s**t down behind them. "May know them indeed, Shepherd and McKay." Laydon Radim said as he signaled his men to lower their weapons. "Please tell me this means Atlantis is back and willing to help?" he asked desperately. "We are back, and will indeed be helping. We need intel and allies, and General O'Neill would be delighted if you would return with us for discussions." Shepherd told him. Laydon Radim nodded, and looked at McKay. "We will need the address." he said pointedly. "Original Lantean Planet, where Kulya stormed us." Rodney replied and the scientists dialed the gate. As soon as it opened Shepherd input his code, and walked through with Rodney, Laydon and several other Genii soldiers. They walked quickly to the conference room, and Laydon smiled as he recognized the city. It was however fuller than he would have ever dreamed, as there were over 200,000 people on Atlantis now. "Laydon Radim, General O'Neill. Commander of the Atlantis Expeditionary Forces, amd General Carter will most likely be joining us as well shortly." Shepherd said making the introduction. "Welcome back to Atlantis, nice to meet you." O'Neill said indocating the seats. "Normally this process would be way more complicated, but we are pressed for time. What is the current situation of the Galaxy?" he asked bluntly. "That is a complicated issue. The Wraith are at war to the extreme, as there are not enough viable humans for them to return to hybernation in any amount of numbers. The work done by Michael contaminated roughly 30 percent of the Galaxy, and most of them have been hunted down and eliminated. They developed a way to detect the Hoffan d**g so are not subject to accidental death. Because there is not enough of us to enter hybernation, there is also not enough for all of them to survive. We are trying to develop the Hoffan d**g further to make it safer, but deploying it now would put the human population in the galaxy on the brink of collapse. "As it is the Wraith are at War like never before, and they are attempting to not devastate the human populations more than they have been. With your help I believe we could eliminate the Wraith problem for good." Laydon told them. Jack nodded as he looked at Shepherd and McKay. "What are the odds of perfecting the Hoffan d**g? I don't care if it kills the Wraith, but we need to reduce the lethality of it." he said. "Dr. Keller actually has two solutions to this issue. She has done the work and reduced the lethality of the trestment to just over 2 percent. Because it is essentially a gene modification it cannot go lower. She has also perfected the Gene Therapy for the Wraith as well. It does not affect their memory any longer, and essentially only activates their digestive organs for nutrition again. There has only been one successful change, but the results are promising." Rodney told him. "Will Todd work with us on that?" Shepherd asked as he had unwillingly undergone it in the Milky Way. "Yes actually. It was because of him that it was successful." Rodney replied knowing he might be able to pass the Wraith muster. "If you have a syrum with only a 2 percent mortality rate, we would trade whatever you wish for it. We have a coalition of 22 planets that would gladly be the launch point." Laydon said. "Actually this will have to be a multi pronged approach. Use your contacts with the people of the galaxy to see how many would be willing. We will use our production facilities to transfer and innoculate as many worlds as we can at once. In the meantime we will allow our Wraith to use his contacts for a meeting with them as well. We will offer them the chance to survive what we will be doing, as they will quickly learn we are not the Ancients." Jack said. "Very well General, I wish you luck on your endeavours. It will take a week to hear back from our many contacts, but I know 22 planets will request rhe syrum. 20 million doses will be needed for them alone. I have a feeling most worlds will accept the risk, as we have only been stopped by the fact we may not survive the loss as a people if we go through with it." Laydon said standing. "We will prepare the intel we have and forward it to you after I return. I look forward to working with Atlantus again, as will the rest of the Galaxy. It seems the return of Atlantis did indeed foretell the end of the Wraith threat." 2 hours later Todd was brought into the conference room free of his shackles. They had done extensive testing over the last 2 years, and he was able to heal just as effectively with human food as he did feeding on humans. "Todd, it seems we are finally back in Pegasus. It also seems we are in need if your assistance to send a message to the Queens." Shepherd said as he sat down. "Yes, I would assume you do. However we both know that I am just as likely to be killed if I return, so I see no benefit delivering your message." Todd replied amused that there were two more higher rankings officals than Shepherd. "And who might the two of you be?" he asked. "You can call me O'Neill, this is Carter. You see no benefit in delivering our message? Very well we will deliver our message another way than. You won't mind the total destruction of the Wraith right?" O'Neill asked him. Todd laughed at the irony of it as he considered what they were saying. "Very well, I know Dr. Keller has been working on the Hoffan Syrum. I suppose she has managed a way to reduce the fatality rate among the already vulnerable human population?" he asked surprising them. "Please, these were concerns before we left." "Yes we have reduced the fatality rate for Humans to 2 percent. We have also perfected the syrum for the Wraith as well as you can attest. They essentially have 3 choices to make, 2 of them end in the Wraith becoming extinct." Carter told him. "The only real question will be time. And you can tell them as our hostage, if they kill you we will consoder that our answer and they will only have 2 choices in how they die." He looked at the two of them and swallowed. Something told Todd that they were not joking. "I will need access to communications, I will need to establish if any of my previous allies still exist." he said. "You will be allowed to go wherever you wish, i suggest you go to one of your bases with the communications you need. You have 2 weeks to contact us via subspace, or we will consider our answer received as well." O'Neill replied to his request. "I see, and should I succeed?" Todd asked. "You will be free to go shoukd you choose. I guess that would greatly depend on the decision the other alliances, hives and queens make." Shepherd said to him as the 3 of them stood up. "They can battle us and learn what facing us truly means, they can risk feeding once we begin mass distribution, or they can negotiate a peace where they undergo significant genetic therapy to survive on something other than Humans." he said before the 3 of them left him in the room alone. The guards waited until he was ready to depart, and escorted him to the gate after he relayed the address if where he wished to go.
