Eli, Zalenka, and Rush finally finished the repairs to all of Engineering and the Stellar Plasma storage area and pressurized it so they could finally remove their suits to work. Franklin had repaired the weapons systems so that all of the bays could brought online at the same time.
Eli had given her the controls for the one repair bot, and she assigned it to focus on the areas needed for her to repair the individual weapons platforms. She got to the first of the damaged sections, and admired the work that the robots for the weapoms systems was doing. It focused primarily on the conduits for the power system, and she was more than happy to fix the relays, arrays, and pods themselves.
She pried open the access panel and smiled at the bypass they had performed. It took her n EA's arly an hour to undo the work, and another for her to actually identify the issues with the weapons pod that was offline. 3 hours later she finished the proper repair, luckily having found a number of the parts she needed when they were sorting through the boxes of supplies the Ancients had left on board.
She began walking to aeroponics to review what she needed to work on next, as it was where they were storing the pads that could access the ship systems without activating the entire ship at the same time. She knew generally which ports needed repairs, but because of the repairs to the hull and ither systems as well she needed to ensure she could get to them before she assuned she could.
It had only been a week, but focusing on the repairs they had managed to reduce shield power by 20 percent, and had repaired 15 percent of the hull breeches. She hoped that they would be able to finish what they were working on, as they now had exactly 4 weeks until Atlantis departed Earth.
Eli walked into stellar plasma and looked at the tanks for the first time. Each of them had chosen a system, and would focus their efforts on it until it was fully repaired or there was no more work that could be done. He waljed around the bay, and noticed there were several of the storage tanks that had holes burned through them, and even more of the connective conduits were missing between some of them that were still functional.
As he walked he found another room about midway down that opened into a parts storage area filled with modules and parts to effect repairs. He found the conduits first, and decided that was as good a place to begin as any. He gathered a few of the replacement pieces, and noticed a tool belt on his way out full of tools that looked specialized. He grabbed it on a hunch and walked to the first damaged conduit he found.
It did not take him lomg to disconnect the destroyed one, and only a few minutes to insert and secure the new one into place. The 3 of them had decided they would work at the same times, in 14 hour shifts. That way they could be fresh for the intricate work of repairing the systems as much as they could.
They had worked 6 hours repairing the hull, and after 8 hours inside the Storage room replacing conduits fo pods that had become isolated from the rest had been finished. He had figured out how to run diagnostics on the tanks themselves, and ran them before he decided whether to replace the conduits. Most of them were in ok shape, but nearly a third of the modules weee either critical or offline completely. The ones still operating at critical levels he transferred the plasma to the rest of the system and isolated them before detaching them from the system itself.
Just as he finished the first half of the room he found the central control as Zalenka and Rush walked in and began calling for him. Eli spotted a technical manual and grabbed it before walking towards the door so they could go back to their collective area in aeroponics.
"How is your progress?" Eli asked as they began walking to the nearby elevator. With the power already well below what they needed, they knew their only hope was much increased efficency and recharging after the meeting with Atlantis.
"We are making very good progress on our repairs. We found the documentation we need to rebuild the modules and plan to puruse them tonight before we fall asleep." Rush said holding up a tablet and Zalenka doing the same.
"Streamlined the operation and found a storage bay of oarts and modules for the shields." Zalenka said holding up his own tablet. "Roughly 40 of the 100 modules need repaired or replaced, and will hopefully get quite a few of them over the next month."
"Excellent, we each have a month to get as much done as we can. Every bit we can do will make it that much easier when Atlantis arrives. Tomorrow however I have a check in with Homeworld command, and will need one of you to have whoever replaces me assist you." he told them as he looked at the energy levels for the first time. "When was the last time life support was run?" he asked noticing that the power levels had increased dramatically.
"I have not initiated any of the systems, assumed you were keeping a close eye on it." Zalenka said as Rush shook his head as well as they walked off the elevator outside of Aeroponics and ran into Dr. Franklin.
"Dr. Franklin, have you run the lifesupport recently?" Eli asked as he began running the numbers. The sprouts and plants in aeroponics were thriving, and the CO2 levels were at only 6 percent. The 4 of them should have generated more than that in the last week, as Eli realized he had not run it since he had shut it off 10 days ago.
"I have not run life support since our arrival." she replied as she stopped what she was doing and looked at him. "Is there a concern about activating the system?" she asked before Eli walked over to the seeds he had planted. They took turns watering every other day to extend the water supply, so he had not seen that they had germinated already and most were more than an inch tall.
"Well here is the rub, CO2 is at 6 percent, and life support has not been run in 10 days. My math said it would be needed atleast every 5, the only factor not accounted for is this section of aeroponics. Apparently it is more efficent than I believed, and we could technically get away without running it for several more days." Eli said while Rush grabbed the tablet and began looking at some of the numbers.
"Eli, did you notice this?" Rush asked him showing him the total air volume. "We have significantly more atmosphere to deal with since we arrived. It could also be a part of the equation unfactored." Rush said.
Eli looked at it and shook his head to indicate it was not. "I ran the numbers assuming a little more air than that actually. I knew there was some in the corridors, and made several calculations. After 10 days we should have been nearing 20 percent, but as we were not experiencing symptoms I had not thought to check it." Eli admitted as Rush did the numbers himself and came to the same conclusion as Zalenka and Franklin got the MREs ready for everyone.
"This will be interesting than, it should only be another week or two before the plants start producing fruits. And from the scans I have seen, the primary aeroponics dome is nearly full repaired and ready for us to plant as well." Franklin said knowing the additional plants would increase their O2 scrubbing without using power.
They all began eating as they considered the dilemma. "We will monitor it closely and I will activate life support if we reach 8 percent. Once the other bay is repaired we will plant it in down time for those that wish, otherwise we focus on our repairs and finish everything we can." Eli said putting the tablet down.
