Terrell had a sneaky suspicion that Ava and Stephanie had just pulled a fast one on him, but he was too tired to care. Ava was safe and sound just down the hall from him and that was all that mattered. He chugged his coffee as he settled in front of his laptop. After days of searching through mug shots and traffic camera streams, he still hadn’t found anything to give him information on the man who had tried to take Ava.
His cell phone rang and his stomach dropped when he realized it was the precinct.
“Peak,” he answered.
“Hey man, I got something I think you’re going to want to come check out,” Josh said.
“Where am I headed?”
“A bakery in downtown Wheeling. I’ll text you the address.”
