Catching Up

1130 Words
Jewel's POV I couldn't believe Rachel was here! Seeing her on the field was crazy. I was curious as to why she left her human husband, to come to my mother's place. I knew she wouldn't know I was here in Southern Wolf territory. She knew next to nothing about them. She was raised in a pack wolf society so her concepts of things differ greatly from a southern wolf lifestyle. She was also teased and bullied by her pack family for there because she was a little thicker than other wolves. Once we got there though that teasing and bullying stopped as far as we could tell. Rachel even showed up to practice with us for training and was doing well. "Ok, Rach you have to tell me what happened why did you leave him and come here?" I let it burst forth. We had gotten to my room, I had to release it or it was gonna drive me crazy. "He was cheating," She looked down at her hands. "His words about my weight and other things flat told me that I was too big for him." I could see she was hurt and was holding in the tears. I pulled her in for a hug, we sat there for a while catching up about other things and how Athens dropped her off. How she saved money to buy her flight to America to find my mom's place. I felt for her, she struggled a lot in her 25 years. "How about you be my assistant?" I blurted out. "Like Lory is to my mom and dad." I turned to see her stunned face. "Why?" She immediately blurted back. We were both good at random mouth vomit. "I know nothing about Southern wolves." She shrugged. "That doesn't matter, you can study while you do the job. How about it?" I asked excitedly. I loved this plan. She could be independent and help heal herself. Plus I will be around her or the guys will should anyone step out of line. "Can I think about it?" She asked. "Of course!" I stood, "how about we take you to one of the now-empty rooms down the hall. You can rest and shower." I led her out to the hallway where Tau and Hawk were chatting. They stopped to look at us. "Hawk the rooms with Leon and his brother's are empty?" I asked. My brother just nodded. "Great can you show her to one? I have asked her to be my assistant like Lory is to dad and mom." I grinned I was very proud of myself. "That is a great idea, Rachel if you would follow me, I can take you to one of the empty rooms." My brother Hawk waved his hand with a little flare. He liked Rachel, he was the first to see her being bullied and stomped the wolves who were doing it. He was never a fan of mean treatment to others. He had seen a lot himself. Stuff I had no way of helping him protect from. It hurt my heart but was glad he found a way to heal from it. "How are you doing Princess?" I heard Tau say close to my ear. The purr in his voice made my body dance with life. "I am doing ok, sad for what Rachel went through but happy Uncle Hawk came and did what he did." I leaned against his chest. I am happy your uncle did that as well." Tau wrapped him around me from behind. It felt wonderful. "I am curious how Leon is going to fit in. Will he be like the families and secretly hope I fail or will he be a cheering section for me." that was the biggest question I had. "Leon I am not so worried about," Tau said. "It is Gael and the others I am concerned about. Your Uncle doing what he did, was clear. What the families did after also clear." Tau turned me around so his blue-green orbs sucked me into a world with only him in it. "They knew what Lobos was up to. They also know they will be slaughtered like vermin if they try more." Tau scooped me up heading straight for my open door. He closed it with his foot as he set me back down on my feet. His hands were on either side of my face. It was like this before he kissed me. His lips landed roughly to mine. I kissed him back while my hand clung to his shirt fabric. I needed this kiss. So much had happened this morning that flipped our thought process and so much unknown, a distraction like this was well in order And needed. I use to want to ride my horse Skai as my distraction. Now I could live in this kiss. Fireworks and stars exploded behind my eyes. It felt wonderous. Our foreheads leaned together, our breath mingling. "I have been wanting to do that all morning," Tau sighed. "Me too," I kissed the tip of his nose to giggle. "Can I ask you something?" Tau asked quietly, me still in his arms. "Of course," I breathed snuggling into his chest. "Where did you go this morning? I saw it in your eyes and your body language." He squeezed me harder to his chest. "There is a dark spot I tap into. I found it the first time I ran into rogues on Skai. They attacked us. Injuring her. I lost my senses and killed them all." I shivered remembering that moment. It was the first time I had ever killed. I was 16. Skai had been injured on her hip causing her to go down. Something dark clicked in me and I don't remember the deaths of the rogues only that when my senses came back I was covered head to toe in blood and crying hysterically over Skai when my mom and Mortou showed up. "I remember Mortou saying that happened." Tau pulled me back to look at my face. "It changes nothing in the way I feel about you. Each of us has our darkness, I am just happy to know you only use it when needed." Tau slammed his lips on me again, grabbing my butt causing my mouth to open. His tongue exploring my mouth as my legs buckled under from the edge of the bed as we ended up falling onto it with a laugh clinging to each other. I was very much in love with this man. I could feel its warmth in my chest. Please, please Leto makes sure he survives the dragons. I pleaded kn my head as our lips found each other on the bed this time.
