Tau's POV
After the guys and I had dinner in the main hall. We were headed up when Gael stopped us. "I need a word with the new guy." His words are clipped and short.
"Tau is not new." Hawk raised an eyebrow at Gael.
"His entrance here is and I need to question him." Gael's dark gaze, looking at everyone. Not just me.
"You didn't question us, so why him?" Max was the one to ask.
"He showed up unaccompanied." Gael paused to on me with his dark gaze.
"I am pretty sure the Princess running to him is a clear sign he is with us." Leon chuckled. Gael's eyes took on a bit darker edge. After Leon said that.
"As Beta I outrank you, Tau stays with us." Hawk-shouldered pasted Gael with enough force that Gael landed with force into the wall.
"I will get my time with him," Gael growled.
"Perhaps tomorrow you and your wanna-be guards can come to our training session and you can spar with him one on one." Hawk whipped around stalking back to the no-standing Gael. His back against a wall he had no place to get away from Hawk's burst of rage.
"What time?" Gael puffed at him.
"7 am." Hawk stared down at him releasing his aura. Gael bent his neck in submission.
"He better not is guarding her tonight." Gael barked out as Hawk turned to go.
Hawk paused, his body went rigid. His fists clenching back and forth. "He is her personal escort tonight, you would do well to mind your place." Hawk's liquid gold eyes appeared. His wolf was barely contained.
"Who is he then to her?" Gael and Hawk eye to eye.
"Her mate, you f*****g twit." Hawk was seething now, when he got to this point it was all anyone could do before he swung a first to damage someone.
Gael's eyes went wide. They snapped to me and then to Hawk again. "He isn't even a wolf!" I was beginning to dislike how this conversation left me out.
"My mate is not even all wolf!" Hawk exploded. He lunged at Gael, "Southern wolves are half-dragon, half wolf! They are not even full wolf like the ancient Lyicans!" If Hawk could have breathed fired at that point he would have.
"He is jealous, you saw the looks he gave her this morning." I placed a soft hand on Hawk's shoulder. "I will beat him tomorrow in front of her." I gave the guy some side-eye.
Hawk's eyes snapped closed. He inhaled and exhaled a few times before opening them. "Yes, I will ask Mortou if he can run the group while you escort Jewel." He nodded. Entirely dismissing Gael as he turned to head back toward our rooms. "Come on Tau, we need to get our suits on." I glanced at the guy one more time before I walked off too.
"You have no idea how lucky you are right now." Leon snickered at Gael. "Those two fight knock trees and s**t over." He laughed as he shook his head walking past him.
"Bad form dude," Max added to Gael as he too went past. We made it up to the rooms. Massive amounts of girl giggles coming from that room.
"20 minutes they say and they will be ready," Hawk announced. "Let's get dressed." Each of us went to our rooms.
I jumped in the shower for a quick scrub. Getting out, I dried off brushed my teeth, and put the suit on that Hawk had brought me. I did also put my ear microphone out of habit. Looking at myself in the mirror, I didn't look half bad. The tie was black with a white shirt the traditional-looking tux.
A knock came on my door. "Come in." I hollered out. The door opened to show me, Hawk on the other side.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Yep," I stepped toward him as he moved out of the way. In the hallway, we walked down a bit to knock on Jewel's door. A massive amount of giggles emerged from behind it. It was almost terrifying.
We stood outside quietly, while a few minutes passed. The giggles slowed and there were footsteps. The doors opened, Tiffany, Lory, came out first. Followed by Jakarta, who had matched her dress to Hawk's tie. Jewel was the last to come out. She wore her signature black with violet accents. That reminded me of her eyes when her wolf comes forward.
Stopped in front of us a little shocked. I guess Hawk did not tell her that I would be here. "Tau will be your escort tonight." Hawk smiled at his sister. That grin you giving a sibling when you know you just got them good.
Jewel's eyes snapped to mine and then back to her brothers. She opened and closed her mouth to say something. But nothing made it out. I took her hand in mine, raising it to my lips I brushed her knuckles lightly and seen her attention gets yanked straight to me.
"Shall we princess," I gazed into her brown eyes getting lost.
"Y. Yess." She stuttered a little bit. Hawk had Jakarta around the waist, closed to his side as he picked her up with ease and walked her behind us. I heard her squeal and giggle.
"We will be right behind you," Hawk chuckled. His attention was no longer on us but Jakarta in her fiery red gown, and black heels. I noticed Jakarta was grinning from ear to ear. None of the guys had heard much from her. So it was, good to see how she looked adoringly at Hawk.
I placed, Jewel's arm through mine as I leaned down near her ear to say, "I have always wanted to escort you and have a dance. Tonight I get to live the dream." I watched her blush. It was so cute! I couldn't wait to let everyone see her dangling off my arm. I was in heaven.
I felt Jewel lean up a little just when we got to the doors that held the ball beyond. "I have wanted to dance with you since the day you said you were going to dance with me before the dragon." I could feel the wistful emotion she put into each word. Did she feel this attraction as much as I did? I sure as hell hoped so.
We stood at the doors when Mortou and Athens appeared on each side of us. "Now this is what I meant when I said she should be guarded well." Morton chuckled and winked at me.
Athens just silently grinned. As they turned to flank both Jewel and me with Hawk and Jakarta beside us. I felt pretty damn good right now. I stiffened when the doors started to open. Jewel leaned up and kissed my cheek, "Thank you." she said as she blushed again.
