Jewel's POV
I was glad to see that Isaiah did not reject Rachel. Or that Rachel did not reject him. I hoped that they could heal each other, like my dad Joe did with my mom.
I on the other hand was finding it rather hard to sort my feeling for Tau. I was pretty sure he had my heart lock stock and barrel. He was under my skin as well as dancing around my head.
"What had that cute grin on your face?" Tau asked.
Speak of the devil. Almost as bad as a dad!
"Just thinking about things." I shrugged, looking back down at the same history page I have been staring at the last hour.
"Are you worried about us getting married?" Tau took the book from me. He slid it across the table and hid it from me. Then plopped his elbow on the table and placed his hands under his chin.
I could tell by what he just did, that it was likely I couldn't change his mind. "If you want to know, yes I am worried I am going to ruin your mate's chances." I sighed, flopping my face down to the table, and covering my head with my arms.
I heard his deep chuckle, as he peeled my arms away from my face. "You will ruin nothing with my mate." He waited until he saw my face before he said that.
"How do you know?" I asked, tears brimming in my eyes.
"What other badass wolves do I know that can take out a dragon with a single bite?" He raised a cocoa-colored brow, adding his signature smirk.
"I am not sure how that happened." I groaned. "That doesn't mean anything."
"Really? I am pretty sure that it does. I am also pretty sure the fact you consume my mind and I always have the urge to kiss you isn't a hint?" The smirk was still in place.
"Wait. What?" I blinked looking at him in surprise. "You can't stop thinking about me?"
"Duh," he lightly flicked my forehead. A grin highlighting his face.
I just looked at him with my stupid expression written on my face. I couldn't say much. As things people said, and our actions clicked into place. The shocks and electricity flowed between us. I was reminded of the tingles with Gael and how he would be a second chance mate. My brother's words of just how euphoric it was to be with your mate. I had all of that and then some with Tau. I looked back at his face to note his smile was huge now.
"I see things are starting to click now." He sat back and laughed.
"Oh shut up," I batted at his arm, rolling my eyes heavenward. "How long have you known?" I shot back.
"Well," Tau paused, "since Linzi's." He wiggled his eyebrows like I had seen Athens do many times.
"What?!" I stood up shocked.
"Yep, Linzi agreed with Mortou that we were mates, and when she made some valid points I listened. Hawk didn't want you with someone we didn't know so he made sure to say we were mates." He leaned back to eye me closely as he grinned from ear to ear.
"Did you and him plan it this way?" I leaned forward to ask him.
"Hahaha," Tau threw his head back to laugh. "No, that was his idea. He had no way of knowing if they would except." He laughed again harder.
"Why are you telling me now?" I raised a brow at him. My eyes still looking at him intently.
"Because you are upset, I don't want you upset." Tau leaned forward so his nose bumped into mine. "I love you too much to see you worry." His voice switched to that purr that made my bones melt. He kissed the tip of my nose. His hands, taking both sides of my face as he lightly brushed my lips. "You have no idea how fast you sucked me in." His lips claimed my lips again quickly as he walked around the table to pull me to his hard chest.
I don't remember anything but fireworks and stars. My body melted against him. I had no concept of time nor did I give a damn. When we parted we were panting and gaining our air supply back.
"Now let's stop worrying about the mate thing and see about finding this missing Queen." Tau's chest hummed in delight.
"Mmm. Yes, we need to find her." I nodded in agreement.
We sat back down next to each other. This time he sat right next to me so his body would brush against mine while mine did the same. We went through several more books before I noticed that there was a letter-bound book we hadn't noticed or touched. I opened it. You could smell the age on it. It was written in hand, not printed which lent to the age of the book itself.
I carefully flipped page after page before I found the chapter. Her name was, Joya which was Spanish for the gem. Funny how my nickname was Jewel. Was this history repeating it's self?
"Joya was her name!" I squealed looking back at Tau.
"Does it say what happened?" He leaned against, his eyes taking on a hungry look.
"It says she ruled for 60 years before she was outed by her younger brother." I glanced back up to see his eyes still burning with that hunger.
"What was his name?" He looked back down at the book with me.
"Joseph was his name. That would make sense that was the first, Munoz male to take the throne in my bloodline." A thought clicked in my head. "She was a Munoz then too," I said in total awe.
"That she was, which means she must have been killed. Does it say who her wolf was?" Tau asked. You could tell he was super curious about it.
"No, it doe..." I was cut off as Akasa spoke up in my head.
I was Joya's wolf. Akasa chirped.
Is that how Linzi knew you?
Yes, she was a wanderer. Akasa grinned in my head.
So you have been Queen before. Is that why you are with me this time?
Yes, that and your Lyican blood allows me to draw power from the neutral source to help you. She was humming at the source of power we had together.
Do we marry Tau? I gulped at this question in worry.
Of course silly girl! That dark hunk of yummy is totally and utterly yours for the taking. Akasa licked her chops at the thought.
You have a dirty mind. I giggled as she flashed more naughty pictures through my head.
"Oh my!" I squeaked when she got to the naked ones.
"What?" Tau's concerned voice drew my attention to his eyes.
My blush was instant and deep red. I realized what Akasa had done. I hadn't thought about Tau like that until just now. Tau was my mate, I could do those sexy things with him. But, boy was it making me blush thinking about them!
