I rub my eyes a bunch trying to make something out in the white light. Eventually I can see a meadow stretching out in front of me, but everything still seems a little too bright.
I finally adjust to the light and realize I’m in front of the tree we scattered my mom’s ashes around. My heart sinks.. this can’t be good.
I see Ruby sitting next to the tree and I go over to her, looking down and realizing I’m in a soft white flowy gown.
“Ruby.. did.. did we die?” I ask aware that I’ve never seen her face to face like this before. She’s beautiful.
“Yes Jade.”
I fall to my knees in front of her “I’m so sorry,” I say quietly, hugging her soft fur.
“Jade you saved so many creatures. You did what any good leader should do - you put your kingdom first, even when it would have been better
