The Date

We drive for maybe an hour total - less than half the amount of time it should have taken us - before we find ourselves amongst the tall buildings and busy streets. I look around in awe of the lights and buzz of activity. I came here a few times on field trips and for the occasional trip with mom and dad but I’ve not really spent much time here, and never unsupervised. Travis pulls over in front of a beautiful old building and turns the car off - despite the fact that we’re literally in the middle of a busy street. Someone opens my door and I jump, dropping my rose. “Mr. Williams, we’re so happy to have you join us today.” He says formally. Hmm Travis Williams. That has a nice ring to it. Travis is out of the car and by my door by the time I’m unbuckled and have collected my stuff.
