"Hellllppppp!" My voice echoed in the empty hallway of the hospital. I was bleeding. I'm pretty sure the doctor was very much alive. I glanced back and saw her exiting the office. She had taken off her white coat and her top had been soaked in blood. She was walking towards me with a smug smile. I ran faster yet the hallway seemed to be endless.
"Helppppp!"
I saw a nurse on the last corridor. She was the same nurse assistant at Dr. Baldwin's clinic.
"Help me! I-" I came to stop when I realized that the nurse isn't moving. She was frozen on her place. I don't suppose she was even breathing. Something or someone probably caused this.
Dr. Marquez was gaining on me. I ran again, trying hard to lose her. But every person in the hospital had stuck and froze.
Damn it!
I did not know where the hallway is leading but I'm almost on the edge. Suddenly, someone appeared from the corridor to the right.
"Peter, get down!"
I dropped on the floor as Jessy slid down into the hallway and fired two guns at the surprised Dr. Marquez. The bullets hit her in the chest and face and she feel on one knee. Jessy grabbed me upwards and continued firing at the vampire who feel down on the floor.
"Get up! She's still alive." She handed me a pistol. "You know how to fire a gun?"
"I'm not sure"
She threw me the gun which I caught on my trembling palms. "You better know how to. Let's go!"
Jessy grabbed my arm and we ran into the west side of the hallway leading into the hospital's parking space.
"Isn't she dead yet?" I frantically followed her into the parking space surrounded with various cars. People there had been frozen like everyone else inside the hospital.
"No. These rounds are not designed to kill vampires."
"How did you know I was here?" I asked through rugged breathing. I must admit I was just trying to talk as much as I do when I'm in situations like this.
"Halfblood feel halfbloods presence. You should know that."
"Yeah, I think I do." We continued running along the cars. "Do you have a car?"
"No."
"What?"
A loud deafening screech echoed from the door where we had gotten out. Out from the open hallway, Dr. Maurine Marquez screeched like a wild animal who just got out from prison and hissed at us.
I gulped beside Jessy. "Now is a really good time to have your convertible."
Jessy fired her gun at the doctor who this time did not seemed bothered with her shots at all. The vampire ran at us through the showering bullets. Jessy kept firing until her magazines fell empty. She then pulled my jacket and dragged me beside a red Tesla. To my surprise, she punched the window, cracking the tinted glass. She gave it another slam and the car's security system whirled into incessant beeping. She pulled the car open.
"Get in! Now!" She snatched the gun from my hands and pushed me inside the car. I was in panic that I was ready to do everything she tells me without hesitation. She fired at the vampire a few more times before swiftly entering the car and pushed me towards the shotgun seat. With a bang, the Tesla roared to life. Jessy slammed the transmission and sent the car at maximum speed.
I had to clung for my life. Jessy's driving is acceptable tonight that we are in eminent danger. I turned to see the vampire. She was running swiftly at us in a speed almost similar to the Tesla.
"She's gaining on us!" I yelled.
"I know," Jessy replied calmly. She kept her eyes fixed on the driveway before glancing at the rearview mirror. Tires screeched as we took the path to the circular driveway of the parking space.
I have no idea what Jessy had in mind. We have a vampire tailing us and we just stole a car. We clearly need to get rid of her but she's incredibly fast. I silently hoped I did not leave the house at all. My stomach was twisting because of the speed and my chest was pounding convulsively.
My eyes drifted into the side mirror where I saw Dr. Marquez leaped from the ground.
Thug!
"Holy prick!"
The vampire had clung to the side of the Tesla. Her sharp nails had turned to claws and had dug the car.
"Fvcking vampires," Jessy muttered on the wheel.
The vampire held through the side of the Tesla and struggled to crawl up to the roof.
"Hold on!" Jessy yelled.
I gripped on whatever I laid my hands into as Jessy accelerated our speed into maximum level. We were almost near the exit and the vampire above us placed punches on top of us, causing bumps to appear on the roof. We were advancing towards a post near the exit and Jessy did not have plans of slowing down.
The window beside me shattered. I yelped.
The vampire attempted to pull me, scratch me while still gripping on the car.
"Shot her!" Jessy yelled.
But the gun was gone. Trying hard to avoid the deadly claws, I bended over to my feet to pick the bloody gun. I couldn't reach it. I was stuck between getting the gun and avoiding another bloody scratch.
"Peter , hurry!"
The vampire tried to get inside the car. She almost caught my head with a swish.
At last, I got hold of the pistol!
"I got it!"
I pulled the gun and held the trigger but the vampire had grabbed my collar. She hissed and screeched. I grunted, hit her arm with the gun as Jessy pulled my other arm. I hit the vampire's grip once, twice, thrice, many more times than I could imagine but she was vehemently strong. I slammed the gun on her arm. She hissed and let me loose. I think I just made it angrier.
"Hold on!" Jessy yelled.
We had reached the ground floor of the parking space and that's when I realized where Jessy was heading. A tall post beam was in the middle of the area and we were heading straight into it without nothing to stop us.
"Jessy, you are not doing that!"
I turned to her but she kept her eyes locked to the same direction. We're gonna die. I swear, we're gonna die.
"Jessy!"
Just as we are about to crash at the beam, Jessy stepped on the brake and swerved the car left. The side of the car, my side in particular, clashed with the beam, crashing and crunching it, and peeling off the door and the vampire that clings to the Tesla. Jessy pulled me just in time before I fell out.
Dr. Marquez fell hard on the ground. She rolled over several times before getting up and kneeling on one knee.
"Yeah!" I yelled. "You got her off!"
The broken Tesla moved out of the hospital building and into the night. Jessy took the road heading into the open highway but miraculously, no car was around, the streetlights had been turned off and the road was pitch dark.
I dropped myself on the shotgun seat and took a deep breath. We're finally safe. We got rid of the doctor who turned out to be a vampire. We got out of the hospital alive.
"Thanks," I told Jessy.
"For what?"
"For saving my life."
She scoffed. "Don't celebrate just yet."
"What do you mean?"
Just as I said that, a loud thug landed on the roof.
