Chapter 5 - Failed rejection.

1280 Words
“I’m not going.” I said, still in my pajamas and ignoring Amy’s pleas. “Talk to her, Jake!” She said as she looked at him. “Maybe it’s good she stays away. Just until the rejection happens.” Jake’s voice was soft and his expression was worried. “I have to go help Luna today with the clean up. If he shows up here again, then what? She’s better at school.” Amy had a point. “He’s going to be there! How many people did he tell?” I asked Jake. “He told the three of us. Probably his mom later. He didn’t announce it.” Jake said. “I’m not going.” I said again. “I’ll stay home. Tell them we both got sick.” Jake left my room and went back to his room. Amy closed my door and I heard her gather her things before leaving herself. I heard a slight knock at my door and set my book down. I cracked it and saw Jake standing there. “What?” I said. “Come down, let’s have breakfast.” Jake walked off and I grabbed my book before following. I got down to the kitchen and sat at the island. I flipped my book back open before Jake slid a bowl to me, and next a box of cereal. “Really? I thought you were making something.” I said pouring the cereal into a bowl. “I don’t cook.” Jake said, he turned grabbing the milk out of the fridge. Something was different about Jake today. “You ok?” I asked, taking the milk and pouring it on to my cereal. “I don’t know Kelsi. Did you feel the bond before yesterday and why didn’t you tell me?” Jake was upset. I felt bad keeping it from him. “I didn’t know how to start when it came to telling you. No, I didn’t feel it before.” I scooped some cereal and started eating. Jake’s phone went off and he hesitated to look at it. “Well he’s noticed we’re missing.” Jake said, putting his phone back down. “I’m going to my room and locking the door.” I said jumping out of the chair and hurrying up the stairs. I desperately watched the clock. No one had come to my door for hours. I figured Blake had stayed at school and the coast was clear. I cracked my door open, but heard voices down stairs. “Your dad said to reject her, just do it so we can all move on.” Jake said. “Okay, go get her and I’ll reject her.” I heard Blake’s voice. I felt excitement spread through me and started down the stairs. The talking stopped, no doubt because Blake could feel me coming. He appeared at the bottom of the stairs with Jake not far behind. “There you are.” Blake said and I stopped in front of him. “Well? Are you here to start the rejection or should I start?” I asked. “What? No.” Blake said and I watched him confused. “That’s not what you said a moment ago!” Jake’s voice was angry. “You have to leave.” Jake shook his head. “Because?” Blake reached out and grabbed my arm. “Take your hand off of her and leave.” Jake said slowly. “She belongs to me.” Blake said to Jake in an almost angry scowl. “I don’t belong to anyone!” I struggled to push his hand off me. I realized it had become quiet and looked at them. Jake took a step forward and Blake’s grip tightened. I yelped and Blake let go. I ran back up the stairs to my room. I closed the door and locked it. The doorknob jiggled and I took a step back. “Ella?” Blake’s voice called to me. “Ella, you have to come out sometime.” He said and I sat on the edge of my bed. How long could I hide in here? After some time I realized I needed to be the one to reject him! He would take it seriously if I started it. I got out of bed and walked to the door. I could still feel him close, there wasn’t any way he left. I opened my door and had instant regret as Blake pushed his way in. “I.. I!” I started trying to say the words as I watched him close and lock the door. “I, Kelsi Charles.” I had got out before Blake stood in front of me. The room became silent. “Well?” He asked and I drew a blank. “You can’t do it can you?” Blake asked and I shook myself from my daze. “Aren’t you here to reject me anyways!?” I almost pleaded. “That was a lie to get you to come out of here.” Blake said as he got dangerously close. “Y-you shouldn’t be in here!” I said, trying to walk past him to the door. He pulled me away from the door and into him. “Ella.” He said as his hands roamed my back and I pushed on him. “Blake stop!” I demanded. Blake’s hand felt at the edge of my shirt. “Stop STOP!” “Shhhh!” Blake shushed me. “I, Kelsi Charles, r-reject you…” I was trying so hard to finish when Blake put his lips to mine. My body melted into his kiss. It was getting harder to resist his touch. I pulled out of his kiss and started pushing on him again. “You Blake Westley!” I said and he looked at me. Suddenly he started to laugh. “Just as I thought, nothing happened.” Blake laid his lips on my neck and then my collar bone. “Why did nothing happen!? Get OFF!” I pushed him hard and he let go. “First, you could barely say it. Second, you didn’t say it like you meant it, and Third, your name isn’t Kelsi.” Blake said and I took a deep breath. “Then I, Ella Charles, reject you Blake Westley!” I said and watched him as he stepped closer. “Even if that had worked, I do not accept your rejection.” Blake grabbed my face with both hands and I glared at him. I grabbed at his hands as his face got closer to mine. “Why are you toying with me!?” I said as his lips found mine again. My grip on his hands softened. We parted ways and I started trying to pry his hands off again. “I love how you’re starting to respond to my kiss.” Blake whispered against my lips. “F*ck you.” I said back before his lips were on mine once more. He moved his hands and I pulled away. I quickly got to the door and opened it. I was down the stairs in a hurry and ran to Jake. I was breathing hard. “Mom is going to be home any minute. What’s wrong with you?” Jake sat on the couch with the tv on. “Why did you let him up?” I said as Blake appeared behind me. “You said you were going home!” Jake stood up. “I lied.” Blake said and Jake walked past me. “Go.” He pushed on Blake and Blake surprisingly obliged.
