“Do me a favor today?” Jake asked as we pulled up to the school. “What’s that?” I asked. “Don’t make out with Blake in front of me today.” Jake said as he parked. “We didn’t make out!” I snapped as I got out of the car. “I thought you hated him.” Jake got out of his side. “I do! He’s playing this weird game with the parts of the mate bond I can feel.” I said walking forward. Blake pushed himself off the wall by the doors as we got close. Jessica who stood nearby turned when she noticed Blake’s attention change. “Kelsi!” Jessica said when she noticed me. Blake walked up and tried to take my hand. “Stop.” I said and he sighed. He quickly leaned in and kissed my lips. I stood there in an almost daze while he took my hand and interlaced our fingers. “What the hell.” Jake said and I shook my head. “I told you.” I said looking at Jake. “What did I miss?” Jessica said, looking at Jake. “She said that they’re playing some game with the parts of the mate bond she can feel?” Jake said, looking at us. Blake looked at me. “Shall we go?” He asked me. “I’m not walking through school like this.” I pulled my hand, but Blake’s was firm. “This is weird.” Jessica said, watching me struggle against Blake’s grasp. “You think this is weird? They were making out on our dining room table yesterday.” Jake crossed his arms. “Jake!” I snapped at him. “But then they’re like this?” Jessica asked. “Fine, let’s go.” I said and Blake started to walk. We walked into the school hand in hand. People turned and whispers ensued. I was growing angry as we made it to my locker. “Was that so hard?” Blake said. “It’s like you’re trying to piss someone off, and you’re using me to do that.” I said as Blake let my hand free. “Untrue, but think what you will.” Blake said. “Then tell me, what is this game all about?” I glared at him before turning to my locker. “The game where you pretend you don’t want me as much as I want you?” Blake said and I messed up my combo. “That’s not true!” My voice was slightly raised. “You made me mess up my combo.” I sighed as I started over. “Ella.” Blake said softly as he got behind me. “What?” I opened my locker and got my book out. Blake wrapped his arms around me and my book dropped to the floor. “The bell is about to ring!” I said, struggling against his grasp. “You don’t ever think of me?” He whispered into my ear. “No!” I said quickly. “The way you call my name sometimes, makes me feel differently.” Blake’s voice softly whispered and my whole body throbbed for a moment. The bell rang and Blake moved away from me. I grabbed my book from the ground. “Now kiss me goodbye.” Blake said and I looked at him. “No!” I held my book to me. “Kiss me!” He demanded and I glared at him. He got close to me. “When you whine and cry, do you always get your way?” I asked. He stopped and started to think. “Most of the time.” Blake smiled as he leaned his face to mine. “You’re going to make me late!” I was growing annoyed. Blake was unmoving and I pushed up the rest of the way to kiss him. I pulled away quickly as agonizing as it was and Blake laughed. He moved and I hurried to class. I made it to lunch without having to see Blake and ignored anyone who asked me any questions. I came out of class to Blake waiting for me. I walked up to him and he looked shocked. “I thought I would have to force you to come to me.” Blake said. “How would you have done that? I’m curious.” I said walking to the cafeteria. “I’m not sure. Use my alpha call to stop you.” He nudged me. “In an effort to not be embarrassed any further, I felt this was easier.” I looked at the people who stared at us. “Didn’t bring lunch today?” He asked as I got in line. “No, mom was too worried. She gets worried about dad when he does his rouge forest clearances.” I said, grabbing a slice of pizza. “He should be home by now.” Blake said, grabbing stuff for his own lunch. We got though the line and I walked to the table where Jake and Jessica sat talking. “There you are!” She looked at Blake. “Of course you’re not far behind.” Jessica giggled. “I had to wait for my girlfriend.” Blake said, sitting next to me. “Stop saying that!” I snapped and Jessica started to laugh. Jake looked annoyed as he stared at Blake. “You’re making my brother uncomfortable.” I said and Blake looked at him. “So I make you uncomfortable now?” Blake asked and they stared at each other. “When you force your affection on my sister, yes.” Jake said and the table grew quiet. “I guess you’ll have to find a way to get used to it.” Blake said as he started to eat. “I thought you were told to reject her?” Jake said, setting down his drink. “Being told to do something, doesn’t mean I agree to do it.” Blake said and a staring contest ensued. “This is ridiculous.” I said standing up. “I’m going to eat outside.” Blake grabbed my hand and pulled me back to sit. “No, we aren’t going anywhere.” Blake said and I crossed my arms. “When did you start listening to what he wanted?” Jake asked, and I could feel anger start pouring from him. “I don’t listen to everything he wants! It’s just easier to not make an embarrassing scene.” I said and Jessica watched the two boys. “You guys need to chill. You’re best friends and this isn’t something to fight about.” Jessica’s voice was stern. Jake stood up and walked off. “Look what you did.” I said to Blake. “Me!? Why’s everything my fault lately?” Blake looked at Jessica who shrugged.
