I came out of my last class and stopped at my locker.
“Hey Kelsi!” I turned and saw Jamie’s smiling face. I opened my locker.
“Hi Jamie.” I said putting a couple books away and closing my locker.
“I just wanted to let you know that you don’t have to come tomorrow.” Jamie kept her smile.
“Are you letting me know that if I don’t feel like coming, I don’t have to? Or are you telling me to not come?” I asked, slinging my bag over my shoulder.
“Jake said you didn’t really want to come. No hard feelings if you don’t.” Jamie patted my shoulder and I watched her hand.
“Jake said that?” I looked at her.
“Yeah! He said he didn’t know why you were coming at all. You hate people and you hate parties.” She followed me as I started to walk.
“Well isn’t he thoughtful?” I said feeling slightly hurt. “I’ll let him know that he and Blake can go have a good time.” I stopped at the front doors and smiled at her.
“Ok!” She seemed excited and ran off back into the school as I walked out. I walked to Jake’s car and saw him standing there laughing with Jessica.
“Let’s go.” I said getting into the car. After a moment Jake got in.
“Thought you would be waiting for Blake.” Jake said as he buckled.
“Nope.” I said, waiting for him to start going. Jake didn’t say anything else and started to drive home.
“Wait, did you guys fight or something?” Jake asked.
“Nope, I ran into Jamie. She told me what you said.” I said as we pulled up to the house.
“What? What did she say?” Jake asked, suddenly panicked.
“I hate people and parties, and I didn’t really want to go anyways. So you take your boyfriend, and have a lovely time.” I got out of the car and walked to the house.
“Kelsi!” I heard Jake’s door shut. I walked into the house and started getting my stuff out of my bag. “Kelsi come on. You didn’t want to go anyways!” Jake said.
“No, you’re right.” I said pulling my book and phone out before heading upstairs.
“Come on! If you don’t go, he won’t go.” Jake followed me.
“Fine.” I pulled out my phone and typed. “Go to Jamie’s party without me.” And hit send. “There.” I said as I continued to walk.
“There what!?” Jake panicked again, probably worried I told Blake what he said.
“I told Blake to go without me. You both can have fun.” I said as I walked in my room.
“What am I supposed to tell him when he shows up here? Because now he’s going to show up here and get mad. You’ll be hiding in here and I’ll have to deal with it.” Jake complained.
“I guess that’s not my problem or my fault to be honest.” I looked at Jake as my phone buzzed. I grabbed it and read Blake’s message. “And he’s on his way. You can tell him the good news quickly.”
“You are being such a brat. I didn’t cause this just because I was honest.” Jake said as his face became angry.
“You hurt my feelings.” I said and Jake’s expression changed.
“Kelsi, you don’t even like him. I’ve never seen Blake act like this and you don’t even like him.” Jake said.
“You need to leave so I can close my door now.” I said to him as I grabbed my door.
“No, if he’s coming here because of you, then you deal with it.” Jake sat on my bed.
“Then I’ll tell him what you said.” I said to Jake.
“Tell him.” Jake crossed his arms. The front door shut and within a moment, Blake was there.
“What’s going on?” Blake asked, looking at us.
“It’s like I told you. Jamie only wants you and Jake there. She told me not to come.” I said and Blake looked at Jake, I sighed. “Jake has been trying to convince me to go anyways.” Jake looked surprised for a moment and then looked away.
“See, we want you to go. Don’t pay attention to her.” Blake said.
“I think you should go without me.” I said, but Blake shook his head.
“Out of the question. Tomorrow, we all will go and have a good time.” Blake smiled. “Jake, were you still coming over?” Blake asked.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Jake stood and walked past me.
“I’ll text you.” Blake said before leaning forward and waiting.
“Bye then.” I said and he became annoyed.
“Kiss me goodbye!” He demanded and I sighed. I quickly pecked his lips. “Was that so hard?” He asked with a smile.
“You make everything difficult.” I said turning and walking away.
It was nice to have a quiet evening. I woke up refreshed and surprised Jake had stayed at the pack house. I was willing to bet he missed having his time with Blake. I got ready for the day and came down. Jake was there grabbing some things.
“Today is pretty much our last day. Next week is just cleaning out our lockers and getting ready for graduation.” Jake said.
“Yep.” I sighed. “Kinda bittersweet. It’s going to be weird getting into this summer and then college.” I said and Jake looked at me. He lifted his bag and stared. “What weirdo?” I said, grabbing my bag.
“Nothing, just wondering how this summer is going to play out.” Jake said and I stared at him confused.
“Ok?” I walked out the door and towards the car.
“Blake won’t be at school until later.” Jake said as we got into the car.
“A quiet night and morning? Not sure how I feel about this.” I smiled.
“You’re so torn up over it.” Jake laughed
