A Mate For Her

Chapter Two : Execution

Nate's POV

After the match I started to feel guilty about all I had said to Collette . I really hurt her feelings and I needed to find her and apologize to her .

I walked up to Nova who was sitting at the side of the field to ask her if she knew where Collette was .

" Hey ", I said and she looked up at me , it was almost as if she was lost in thoughts .

" Oh hi ", she responded .

" Why are you still here ? " I asked

" I like to stay back and think when the other girls leave ", she responded .

" Are you okay ", I asked her , and she nodded .

" You look tired , have a drink ", she said holding out a water bottle from her bag .

" Thank you ", I took the drink and took a sip from it . It was cold orange juice , just what I needed .

" It's so good ", I said and she smiled .

" Thanks , my mom taught me how to make it ".

" Do you know where Collette is ? " I asked

" I think she went home , she seemed mad too ".

" Oh , I'm going to change , I think you should too , it's getting cold out here ", I said after watching her rub her arm .

" I'd just grab my sweater and wear it , I'm going home soon anyway ", she said . I started to notice the throbbing pain in my head . It started as a split headache , and then graduated into what turned out to be a migraine .

" Ohk sure , I'd go change and maybe I could give you a ride home ", I said and she gave me a small smile .

I walked out and went to the locker room , changing back into the clothes I had worn before the practice session . Walking out to see Nova standing outside . Her face was pale , almost as if she had seen a ghost .

" What happened , you don't look fine ".

" I just got a little scared , the whole place was quiet and I was starting to hear footsteps ".

" Sorry , let's go ", I said and I made to move but I noticed the pain in my head get worse , I lost my balance and I held Nova by her waist accidentally to regain balance .

" Nate ", " are you alright ? "

" I'm fine ", I tried to regain my balance , and I let go of her . " Sorry " , I said .

" It's fine ".

My sight was getting a little hazy , I was probably stressed out .

" Nova , I don't feel too good , I need to sit ", I said .

" Okay , let's go to one of the classrooms , we can always go home when you feel better ", she said and we went to the closest classroom .

I sat down on one of the chairs , and she sat next to me .

" Are you sure you're fine ", she asked .

" Yeah I'm good , just a little stressed ".

" Sorry ", she said and we stayed in an awkward silence .

" Let's do something ", I said .

" What ? "

" Maybe like a game or something ".

" Okay , so what do you have in mind ? "

" Three questions ", I answered .

" You go first then ", she said and a smirk grew on my face . The headache seemed to reduce , but it was still there . I was starting to feel kinda tipsy , but I waived it off seeing as I didn't have any drink .

" First question , rate me on a scale of one to ten ", she flushed red , avoiding eye contact with me .

" I can't do that because you're too cute you broke my scale ", she said and that was a good pickup line , impressive ! Well I knew I was really handsome that's why girls were head over heels about me .

" My turn , Why are you dating Collette ". That question came out as a shock to me , I wasn't actually expecting it , but then it came so I had to answer it .

" Because ..... Well Collette's smart , and she helps me with school stuff , also because being with her had helped my grades , lastly the free kisses that come from the relationship since she's too scared to go further ".

" So you don't actually love her ? "

" Naaa , I don't do nerds , I'm more into cheerleaders ", I said with a wink .

" My turn ! Ever had a boyfriend ? "

" Yeah , some jerk in middle school , but then we broke up cos bro was too insecure ". She eyerolled .

" Rate Collette ".

" She's a 5 , and that's me being generous , cos she's a bad kisser for the most part ".

" if I kiss you , what would you do ? " I asked with a mischievous smile . She flushed red , looking down , probably nervous .

" I don't know ", she said and I held her chin and tilted her face , then I placed my lips on hers kissing her slowly at first , nibbling at her bottom lip , then she finally gave me entrance , our tongues touching . She tasted of the same orange juice . She moved and was now sitting on my legs , straddling me . Her fingers tangled in my hair . What started as a soft kiss soon grew into a passionate one , and it left both of us gasping for air .

" Um.. this is wrong ", she said feeling guilty , and she got down from my legs , pinching her nose .

" No it's not Nova , we can do whatever we like , it's not like I'm mated to Collette or anything ", I said , moving closer to her , and she kept moving back till her back reached the wall .

" Lie that you don't like me ". I said and she closed her eyes , her heart pounding .

" You used up your three questions ".

" You have one left , wanna spend it ? "

" I thought you weren't feeling well , if you feel better , we should go now ".

" Fine , if that's what you want ", I said and we took our stuff and left the class . We went into the car , and the drive was really silent . I couldn't help but think that the person in that class wasn't me . Yes my relationship with Colette was fake , at least from my side , but I would never cheat on her or say such to someone about her , I did respect her . Something was definitely wrong with me .

" I'm sorry for what happened in there , I just didn't feel like myself in the class ", I said , and she didn't respond .

" So nothing that happened in there was genuine ", she asked .

" Nova , you're cute and all , but I can't just cheat on my girlfriend with her best friend ".

" Yeah , right ", she said .

The rest of the drive was silent , and after dropping Nova off , I went to my house and went straight to bed .
