Winter's Choice

Chapter 10

As the lesson came to an end I couldn't help but look towards Violet, she was leaving the room eye's downcast as to try avoid challenge's which she would be subject to, even though she was an honorable member of the King's pack, most work towards becoming apart of the royal pack but it is a major process many don't make it.

As Amy and I left the class all movement in the hallway had stopped once again, looking around I could see all the shifter's eye's zeroed in on Violet as she walked towards the next class, life for her would be horrible as she still maintained Rogue status. I could feel all the vampire's licking their lip's at the chance to get ahold of her, since no pack would defend her, even Elena would be cruel given the chance towards her.

As we walked towards fight class I couldn't help but overhear planning going on between both shifter's and vampire's on how to get towards Violet, an alone shifter was a dead shifter in vampire eye's. As I walked plan's got more and more solid as groups mixed. It was if the King's protection didn't matter, maybe he is weak and they think they can get away with it. Unless they plan to make it as if it wasn't them who did it.

As we entered the class, Violet was already near the dark corner of the room as if to try avoid confrontation, hopefully after being nearly killed she would be exempt from fighting. 

As the teacher droned on, she was being ignored so far but eye's kept glancing towards her from student's, they were clearly waiting to see if anybody would test her strength.

As the boring lesson continued talking about stance's and other boring crap I had already learned, I noticed a few student's had wandered closer to violet out of the teacher's eye sight, I could smell the scent of blood, quickly focusing my eye's on violet. I could see a shifter had his claws dug into her arm while whispering in her ear, her face was a mask of horror, I couldn't help the rage bubbling to the surface, as it peaked, before I could register what I had done, I was infront of Violet with the shifter on his back screaming as he held the arm he had grabbed her with, wrist bent back along with finger's, he was cowering before my power wave's which I had released full force upon the whole room, many shifter's had their eye's downcast, while vampire's had been forced onto one knee with head's bowed. I had never allowed anybody to feel the full weight of my power, I choose to keep it hidden only letting small pieces through as to not give away how powerful I actually was as an Alpha, we ranked the same way as shifter's as it was easier than trying to come up with another order.

As he kept screaming more shifter's entered the class as they had probably felt the pain through the pack bond, I wouldn't be surprised if the king turned up from having shifter's disappear from his class.

Speak of the devil, he pushes through the student's as they crowded into the room, he's front and center as all Alphas should be. While I had been preoccupied noticing the whole shifter population entering the class, I hadn't noticed the shifter on the floor get back to his feet after resetting the wrist and finger's I broke. His eye's zeroed in on me with a snarl tilting his lip's, releasing my own hiss at him. "Any who touch Violet from now on will deal with my wrath!" I boomed across the room, allowing more Alpha vibe's into my tone to get the point across. As If it never happened I pulled my power back into myself and straightened to my full height. The shifter was still staring at me with malice in his eye's, I couldn't help but smirk at him, he was no match for me, I knew when he had tried to use his own power level against me to make me stop. Looking into his eye's, I couldn't help the word's out of my mouth. "challenge?" I asked. He had around 3second's of decision before I took it as an offence. During that time, his eye's lowered and he backed away not showing his back as that is an offence to any supernatural. I deemed him not a threat and turned towards Violet, who had eye's downcast once again while holding her arm which was still bleeding. I offered her my hand, which she took while slowly pulling her eye's towards my face with a question in her eye's. Seem's nobody has defended her before... That's about to change.

"Violet, I am sorry I didn't interfere straight away or notice what was about to happen. But that will not happen again so I extend this offer for all to hear. Violet, as an Alpha, I can create a coven or pack if you prefer that term of my own. So knowing this I offer this, Violet join my pack as Alpha, I will protect you, cherish your talent's and defend you against all who threaten you or future pack member's, I will also accept your mate should you find him, no matter of race or species as all are welcome." I stated softly while maintaining eye contact so she could sense my truthfulness.

As my word's registered I could hear the collective gasp from all of the species, this was uncommon since most cannot stand each other but I would put aside my family's teaching to protect the innocent and weak, people deserved to love whomever fate picked no matter what. This would reach the far corner's of the world as people told family and packs of what has occurred today, more would come to ask for acceptance, Rogue's would come aswell to hopefully find an Alpha who would accept them into the protection I offered. Being a Princess, I had more than most back home I had my own semi coven full of people I picked to be my guard's since I refused the one's forced by my father, waste of space they was, always running back to him to report what I was doing.

As I continued to watch emotion's flick through Violet, in a steady voice she answered me finally. "I accept you as Alpha and offer my protection of you in all matter's" she said with determination. Soon as she said the word's I pulled my bracelet off and watched it turn into a sword. As I gripped it in my hand, the blade cutting deep as blood swelled, I removed the blade and put my hand over her wounded arm, as the blood mixed I sensed my the coven bond with my family and their subjects break, an a new bond form in it's place, which when I closed my eye's I could see lead right to Violet, I could feel her emotion's, sense her thought's as the bond solidified in a gold colour, a true sign of respect, gold made the connection permanent unless I released her or she died, it glowed as bright as the sun, showing her to be true pack.

"It is done! All will be forgiven on the one who hurt my pack member, but should it happen again, I will defend her or them when more join, to the death. Be that the warning. An it will be the last I give!" I roared across the room.

Everybody continued to stare in shock at what had just happened, all apart from Amy who was beaming from ear to ear, I knew she supported this choice, as A mountain lion, they were normally very unsociable in pack's but being alone meant constantly on the move, never to settle. 

"Winter, I ask permission to join your pack, as a friend and also to help bring other clan's together as all species to show unity within a pack who encourages mixed mating's." she spoke loudly so all would hear.

"Amy, I would love for you to join my pack but you will be ranked as Beta, I trust you to uphold my law's and values and I trust your council." I spoke.

Offering my hand which was still unhealed, I watched as Amy used her own claw to slice her palm and clasp it in mine, power swirled around us as her golden cord joined Violet's but it had an extra gold thread wrapped around it, signifying her Beta status to me.

As soon as I reopened my eye's and Amy took to my right side a sign of solidarity, people had still not overcome the shock, as my eye's roamed the crowd, they stuck on the King of shifter's, his eye's shone with pride and a smile graced his face, handsome if you are into asshole's I guess.

"Off to lunch! Entertainment is over" he shouted.

As everybody filed out people glanced back towards me and my pack, As we moved to follow, Elena stepped forward fury In her gaze.

"You have betrayed our family, you are no longer my sister, Father will also take my side In this be sure of that, I will enjoy watching you fail as Alpha and watch as you are destroyed by other Coven's and Pack's who stick to the old way's" she spat. Soon as finished speaking her piece she turned to walk away.

I couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up my throat and I did nothing to stop it, "Oh sister, Hopefully he does as that mean's he can no longer decide my future mate, much less force the issue of mating on me. An I look forward to seeing these coven's and pack's try to take my life and that of my pack, many have already rang family and friend's to spread the word of what I have done today, I will receive many request's to join as in secret I know few who wish to join with their fated mate of different species. I also hope you aren't foolish enough to take me on in a challenge sister. We both know now I always let you win, to not show my true power. But go ahead and try your luck." I stated harshly.

As she registered my word's she stormed from the room smoke coming from her ear's, her fist's clenched. 

"Let's get lunch then go to mine and Amy's room as I need to fill paper work out to find territory and housing for our new pack, hopefully it doesn't take long" I say as we walk to the lunch room door.
