I parked my car in my usual spot, grabbed my backpack from my back seat, and headed into the large brick building which housed my high school. I met up with the other three students from clan Stardust; Michelle, Roxanne, and Alastair. Our clan was much too small to need it's own high school, so we shared one with neighboring clan Scar Moon, with whom our clan shared a tenuous relationship at best. We shared resources, and we were allowed to attend their schools, but negotiations were always difficult among the two Alphas. My father chose to rule his clan with kindness and by influencing his members. Alpha Philip from clan Scar Moon, however, ruled with an iron fist. He trained his warriors to be brutal and to take no prisoners. Torture and execution of misbehaved clan members was common in clan Scar Moon. Thus, the children of the clan were raised to be cruel.
Due to the difficult relationship between our clans, members of clan Stardust were constantly tormented in school. I took the brunt of the abuse because my father was Alpha. The four of us always stuck together though; we didn't have much of a chance fighting back against the hundreds of clan Scar Moon students, but misery loves company.
Our classmates started getting in our faces the moment we walked through the cafeteria towards our first classes, I growled fiercely at a boy who got too close to Roxanne, who linked arms with me to calm me down as we approached first period. We settled in for English class, and I skimmed the chapter I was supposed to have read the night prior. My attention was drawn away from my book as another student threw a wad of gum at my hair, but fortunately my wolf noticed and moved me away just in time. I flipped him off and returned to my book. Just as I finished the chapter, Mrs. Stanley slammed her books on the table to get our attention. The class quieted down as she began her discussion of the chapter.
