Finding for the truth

chapter 3: Ella

It grew ink dark and Chole couldn't find Kate anywhere. At last, he sat hopelessly in her room. He took a last look at the room while sitting and spotted something above the desk. Like envelope. He opened and realized Kate had left a note. After reading he realized he was too late. His greatest fear took over him. Losing his daughter. he wasn't giving up on her. so, he too left for shinex, making sure it's not too late.

When she opened her eyes the sunlight through the cottage window blurred her eyes. It took some time for her to realize what was going on. She suddenly remembered about the last night. And looked around to find out where she was. It looked like a small cottage. 'Why is this cottage in the middle of the forest? The deep, dark and scary forest'. she thought. she stepped down the bed which made a small cranky sound. then there came footsteps behind her. she turned back to see a girl about her height. she had a deep set of green eyes.

"hi," kate broke the silence.

"hi, my name is Ella. what's yours?"

"I am kate",

" did you get lost last night? people usually don't come here. you are first after a decade",

"No, I wasn't. I just wanted to get to the other side of the forest". kate didn't want to say it all, so she told near to the truth. "was it you last night who scared my life out?" kate now furrowed her brows and made an angry expression.

"It was me. sorry, I threatened your life".

"I forgive you but next time please be more precise. besides, thanks for bringing me here. I was actually searching for a shelter". kate smiled.

"come, let me introduce you to Sophia, my aunty ". Ella grabbed kate's hand and pulled her out of the bed and rushed outside where sat a woman about kate's father's age.

"aunty". Ella shouted which caught the attention of the women ho was fetching water from the well.

she placed the bucket down and sat and went towards them. "o goodness, finally you are awake after a deep slumber of one and half-day... I guess". the woman said. she looked kind and caring. 

"what?" kate was shocked. "one whole day??"

"and half" Ella added.

"that's the longest time I have ever slept!" kate was amazed.

"the longest time I slept was 2 days I guess," Ella said nonchalantly. "I could have slept more if my aunt would have never poured a bucket of water on my face".

kate laughed.

"you should have seen your face then". Sophia laughed. "you looked hilarious".

"ok, now, introduction..." Ella clapped her hands to get three times to get kate and her aunts attention. "aunty this is kate and kate, this is my honourable aunty, Sophia".

they both greeted each other. after a little chat they walked towards the cottage and shortly after that they sat on the dining table for breakfast.

"what do you want to do beyond the forest?" Sophia asked curiously.

"a forest?" Kate stammered. "oh maybe I was hoping to...see...new places like melody, I always wanted to watch that stone garden waterfall. it's so beautiful I heard".

"I want to go there too". Ella said excitedly.

"yeah, but I was hoping to see it alone". kate hesitated. "it's not what you mean, i..."

"Are you hiding something?" Sophia asked to kate.

"what...hide...no way. hide what?" kate stammered again. she is afraid of telling lies which was the reason behind her stammering.

"kate, I know you are hiding something. something really big". Sophia now sounded a bit of concerned. "what is it kate?".

"O.K." Kate breathed and finally spilt. They heard everything with great concern.

after she finished her tale Sophia's eyes grew wider. "oh god. are you Chole's daughter? I can't believe".

"you knew her father?" Ella cried.

"Well, he was one of the brightest students in our academy. And top in my grade. But I was second, so I remember myself competing with him but he was way better. It was decades ago." Sophia smiled as she remembered the old memory. "But dear, you mustn't go there I hardly escaped. But your determination tells me that you are the chosen one".

"Chosen One?" Ella repeated the word.

"What does that mean?" Kate asked curiously.

"It was then when krypton conquered Shinex, the world was met with a universal message...a prophecy that a saviour without skills will balance the good and evil". Sophia said.

"You really think it is me?" Kate felt couldn't believe what she heard. The day before she was a normal girl and today she was the chosen one. It sounded crazy to her. All emotions flourished her mind. Should she shed a tear of joy or smile or be afraid?
