Chapter 14 When our waiter arrives, I’m still undecided. But Derek sits with his menu folded as if he already knows what he wants to eat. Thinking I’ll have a little bit of fun with him, I smile at the waiter and ask, “Do famous celebrities get free meals?” “Jamie,” Derek warns. The waiter frowns at him, then at me. “Which one of you is famous?” he wants to know. Derek shakes his head. “Don’t worry about it.” But I lean on the table like I’m going to let the waiter in on a little secret, and he leans down as if he expects me to whisper it.
