Information and realization

A year later people started going missing and the year after that and the year after that. always the same 5 witches, 5 day vamps, and 5 humans. One day some of the people came back they came to Farlon and wept and said, “We weep for the weeping woman of sorrow, the forbidden course selected us as a reminder to never forget.” after that they would search for a body that was never found like sad mimes’ mute and alone after ten days they'd give up. When people would ask them what the forbidden course was they would say ‘a tournament like no other created to force awareness and torture in order to understand how it truly feels to be frightened into sorrow.’” “I too, heard the same thing,” Fabian interrupts. “but I also heard her real name was Lila Vail, and that Chase was the name she took from her husband. You see she married young at the age of seventeen and when she died she was nineteen.” A girl about average height, strawberry blonde hair, and green eyes; chimes in, “I heard she had a baby and that when she passed her husband so overwhelmed with grief he took the child and left Farlon for good.” I must have been staring at her because she started to look uncomfortable. Quickly I say, “Sorry, I'm just trying to process everything. I didn't mean to stare. What’s your name? My names Kara.” A soft slightly accented voice replied, “it’s okay, my name is Neala and before you ask I'm 17 and a Day Vamp like Fabian. I was wondering could you maybe tell Eyislee I said happy Birthday. I would but I don't wish to frighten her.” Gears in my brain are working overtime and on the verge of burning out, so I'm all too pleased to say, “Sure, I'll go tell her right now.” It isn't until I pick up my pace to catch up to Eyislee that I realize although it's a little tough to walk in the sand I haven't exerted myself and I'm not sweating from the heat of the mid-morning sun. Maybe desert heat has been exaggerated or something, but it's kind of nice and this trainning suit is light and airy. Eyislee just a few feet ahead hand in hand with Juju. “Juju!” I call. Hearing me she stops and turns to let me catch up. As I approach I say “hey Eyislee do you see the girl with the strawberry blonde hair behind me?” she nods yes and I continue, “her name is Neala and she's 17 like you but a day vamp like Juju’s friend Fabian. She asked me to tell you Happy Birthday.” After delivering the message I wander off to try and collect my thoughts. But something just isn’t sitting right with me. It should be about noon, but thr sun is still in the same position, it’s still not hot, and the sand is barely warm to the touch. This cant be the dessert. It may have a lot of sand, but it is definitely not the dessert. I jog a little bit further ahead to see if there any other pieces to the puzzle to help me figure this out. Sadly there is nothing but sand as far as I can see. I look up directly at the so called “sun” the glare hurts my eyes, but its bare able. Blinking in disbelieve I start to pace back and forth. A strong hand lands on my shoulder, I turn to see amber eyes looking down at me. Ash. “I understand the confusion and the fear of the known, but you look more out of it than the others.” Then with a smirk he adds, “Is there something wrong with you?” Slightly irritated, but also relieved that someone asked. I decide it would be easier to show him rather than say the words out loud. I grab his shoulders and shift his body with surprisingly no resistance from him towards the “sun”. Stepping in front of him I place my hand under his chin and guide it so he has to look directly into the light. Leaning in on the tips of my toes I whisper to him, “focus look through the light. What do you see?” Before I can help myself my hands creep up his neck and into his hair. Its soft and smells like a musky mint. Calliing on all my self restraint I start to draw away.
