They didn’t

Realization dawns on me as remember Fabian's determined walk, he wasn't walking at human speed on purpose. He had no choice and the witches haven't tried a single spell since we got here. Mia pops up next to me. “I guess we have plenty of time to talk now.” she says with a shrug. Everyone starts to move north, by the time we speak again. Forgetting everything the color of Amber teases my brain and I have to ask, “What’s his name?” she looks up at me “whose name? If you mean my team mate his name is Ash. If you don't mean him then I don't know, I haven't spoken to any other guys.” the curiosity in her voice makes me want to not continue this conversation. Intent on changing the subject I ask, “will you tell me the story you heard as a child?” searching my face as if she's looking for some sort of answer she takes a deep breath as she turns from me and begins, “Where I come from the story they tell has been told from generation to generation so naturally I assumed it was just an urban legend. Boy, was I wrong, it starts out like this. ‘A long time ago in the village of Farlon a young woman named Lila Chase, was known for her beauty and kind heart. The village loved her and all that she did, but with all good things comes jealousy. A group of teens grew jealous of all the attention she was receiving; They decided she needed to be taught a lesson, she need a darker view of the world, then she'd no longer be the kind-hearted girl everyone loved and they'd be the ones who got the attention for once. They teased and taunted her, but she didn't change she still smiled and made others smile like nothing ever happened. Until one night the group decided she needed to go. They tricked her into meeting them in an abandon house, where they then cast a spell that trapped her. She had nothing and no one. They took her shoes, her clothes and everything of meaning. They gave her a sheet for clothing and tiny candle that was enchanted to only burn at night. Lila tried to stay positive somehow someone would find her, ten days passed and her spirit died, she would weep until she slept and when she woke she would weep again. One night her sobs were so loud she could be heard across the village she was dying and they knew it. People searched but no one found her. With her final sob the sky turned black and people swear they saw her ghost black hair flying around her, her eyes blazing the color of an Amber flame and the most beautiful white dress swaying in the wind as one final tear slid down her cheek and in that moment, she was no longer Lila the kindest girl in Farlon she was the weeping woman of sorrow. That night the group also received attention, together they stood side by side one witch, one day vamp and one human. They watched as her tear fell and they wept.
