Chapter 16 Story Time

Jayce's POV

We follow my mother into the pack house as I just see my mate's eyes light up at the sight before her.. This makes me happy to give her something new when she had shown me so many new things already.. You can tell by her genuine reaction, that she has never been in a home or at least stayed in homes.. but always staying outside in the wild.

It's different on our territory.. Our houses have a very homey feel to them, they are not huge by any means, but we have had to keep building on our property because we keep getting more and more wolves that need and want sanctuary because they don't have a pack anymore for one reason or another.. Our pack is known for helping out anyone in need, that's how we became the biggest and strongest pack. Not trying to brag just wanting to clarify how we became this way.

We continue to follow my mother to the kitchen area. The guys are running around doing who knows what.. just entertaining themselves as much as they can. My little sister is smiling at us from afar but man my older sister is glaring daggers at my mate.. If looks could kill then I wouldn't have a mate anymore by the looks she is sending out.

"Don't worry about her sweetheart.." My mother nicely says to Persephone causing a small smile to appear on her face. "Thanks.. but I knew not everyone would like me.. I'm just suprised most of you like me.. being honest." She says to her as her mouth drops open.

"Of course we like you.. I don't know how I couldn't.. You are so sweet and respectful.. You make my son smile and that means so much to me because he is frowny way too much of the time.. and Jay says you saved him and that means more to me than you will ever know.. because he is my baby boy and always will be no matter what he thinks!" She says about me as I groan and pinch the bridge of my nose at that comment.. but it really doesn't bother me at all, she is so sweet and I have always been a mama's boy for sure. This moment is just embaressing for me as a man.

"Theo did tell me how you saved him a couple times in a small amount of time! Theo is like another son as well, so thank you for that.. But may I ask how you helped my son? What happened when you were searching for her Jay?" She asks Persephone then looks to me. Percy looks nervous as she bites her lip and looking at me so I let out a deep breath and grin to start this.

"Well actually I followed her scent across the lands and was able to follow it straight to her.. I was too scared to say anything to her so I followed her for a little bit.. without her knowing I was there." I explain to my mom as I now feel Persephone's eyes on me. I glance over at her and she is smirking at me I think waiting for the rest of my side of things, since she never knew any of this.

"So I kept following her around watching her do what she does naturally.. until she wanted to go for a swim... she was washing.. everything.. when I walked up to try to talk with her.." I state as Theo exclaims, "Of course that's when you decided to talk to her, when she was washing herself!"

I can feel my face heating up at that comment as I hear the guys laughing louder at his explaination.. So I just continue with my story trying to pretend like they didn't say that. "But.. before I could even get her attention, her leg was wrapped up by a huge tentacle trying to pull her into the water. So instinctively I grabbed hold of her arm to help her.. and that's how I got her attention instead of the way I planned.. but I wasn't of much help, because the both of us were dragged through the water.. But I held on tight to her, then extended my claws to scratch the tentacle to get it off of her leg.. luckily it let us go and we were able to get back to the campsite.. But I was still too scared to talk about her being my mate.. so I just asked her if I could stay with her over night and she willingly obliged with a threat or two involved in that gesture.. for her safety of course." I explain as I hear my mother laugh at the last bit of my comment.

"Well yeah if you're stalking her like a creepy wolf I would be threatening you too.. I bet the only reason she said it was ok, was just because you saved her." My mother states as if it was obvious causing the girls to giggle at her statement.

"Well it was mostly because he saved me, but also because he was being so nice to me and I honestly felt very comfortable around him.. no matter how strange he was acting." She says smiling over at me causing me to smile back.

"Yeah... and luckily for me, I had the best sleep of my life.. but now thinking about it I don't know if it was because I was sleeping by my mate or because of the siren." I state to no one in particular as my brother exclaims. "A siren?!"

"Yea actually he woke me up because he just stood up out of no where and just started walking into the water.. but I kept telling him to not do that because it wasn't safe, but he wouldn't acknowledge me at all.. That's when I saw the siren singing to him from the top of a boulder trying to get him to drown himself for her to eat. I tried pulling his arms to get him away, slapping to wake him, I even jumped on him and chanted into his ears to try to bring him back.. But all he did was just stop in place.. he didn't keep walking, so the siren got mad and came at us. I jumped down from him and started fighting her.. But being a light fae I'm not the best at hurting anyone.. So I tried to fight her, but honestly it wasn't working.. So she started drowning me and that's the last I remember." She explains to everyone because my whole family and friends have gathered at this point, listening to our story so of course so I have to continue.

"I woke up because of her calling my name and this creature was holding her body under the water. I extended my claws and scratched her neck as she swam away from us. I pulled her out of the water and blew air into her lungs until she finally spit out all of the water in her system luckily... After that scary moment, I found myself enticed and I almost kissed her, but sadly scared her away.. So she flew away from me in that moment." I say a little sadly as Drew states. "Of course! If you tried to kiss me I would run too!" They start laughing and sending out high fives to each other but causing Persephone to involve herself once more like she has done this a million times with my family.

"No it wasn't that.. I didn't know he was my mate and I didn't understand why I was feeling the way I was, so I ran.. it's not known for mates to be of different species, so I just thought I was being crazy with my feelings.. I didn't want to hurt him or him hurt me.. So I flew away from the situation all together.. But I hid in the trees and found out by a rumbling growl that I accidentally led him into the Dragon's den.. and woke up a dragon.. But he didn't know it was me who woke him up, he thought it was Jayce since he was in his line of view looking for me. I saw the dragon's fire heating up and all I knew is that I didn't want him to get hurt, so I jumped down in from of him and wrapping myself around him as I chanted the only protection spell I could think of, that would hopefully be this strong but I had never tried it before.. So I was just hoping I got it right.. and luckily I did.. The fire just burned everything around us but not us at all." She says to them as the nod at her completely enticed about our story.

"After that moment and us being so close, she got nervous again and went to leave but I couldn't let her. So that's when I finally got the guts to tell her that she was my mate.. but that's not where things stopped being crazy.. I was able to convince her to be with me and when she agreed we started making our way over here but got caught in the strangest storm I have every seen! It was a cyclone that connected the ground to the sky and brought so much wind and rain with it.. It destroyed everything in it's path and when it was coming for us.. instead of taking cover like I thought we would... She actually ran out towards the storm, to save some baby Pegasus and a satyr caught in the storm. Then we helped some magical creatures that got hurt in the process and she even taught me how to dance because that's the only way to show them that we meant no harm." I exclaim with so much excitement in my voice.

It doesn't go unnoticed by me that she is intently staring at me telling our beginning chapters of this hopefully long story to come.

"Then we talked and got to know each other more as we made our way over here.. I got her to stop so we could have a seat and enjoy the sunset but that's when the Cyclops attacked us and she put him to sleep instantly with her sleeping powder." I finish up as they all look completely mesmerized.

"Wow that's exciting.. I'm so happy you both had each other because both of you could have died if not.. but I guess that shows that everything happens for a reason.." Roxie states to us as I smile and nod before my mother asks. "So are you planning on staying with us? Because you are welcome to be apart of our pack if you would like." She states as I watch the smile grow so big across my mate's beautiful face.

"I would love that.. I haven't had a family in a very long time, so that would mean more to me than you would know... but.. Leanne is right.. I will bring unwanted attention and I don't ever want to hurt anyone.. but just know I would do everything I could to defend the pack and help them with my healing and potions." She exclaims to them as everyone nods at her except for my sister Leanne.

"She couldn't even fight something off to save our brother.. She only was able to out of luck most the time and she will bring unwanted attention, she even admitted that.. So I still vote no for having her here." She states to everyone around.

"Well all of us have brought unwanted attention one way or another to the pack Lee. So you shouldn't be judging that at all.. We shouldn't ever shame anyone for whom the moon goddess has provided us... Because she has brought this light creature into Jay's life for a reason.. She can help us as much as we can help her and most importantly, she will make Jay happy and that means more to me than anything else about this situation.. Does it really matter what kind of magical creature she is, when she puts that big dumb smile on your brother's face." My father states playfully to me as I smile bigger at that defense.

"Fine but don't say I didn't warn you when the time comes.. because we all know it will." She states storming out of the room and to her own room. "It's fine with me as long as it's fine with everyone else." My father says to all of us waiting for an answer.

I look around the room and everyone nods at that comment, making me smile bigger and dumber than before.

"Ok Persephone, welcome to our pack." My father states causing my mom and sister Roxie to bounce on their toes and clap at that comment.

"Thank you so much, you don't know what this means to me." Persephone states as she smiles bigger than I have ever seen, looking just as beautiful as ever.
