part one
The Presidential Office - 2010
The American President entered the meeting hall with hurried steps, his weary face reflecting deep concern, followed by all the ministers who exchanged tense glances. The room was filled with a heavy silence, and no one dared to speak until the President began.
President: (in a trembling voice) What's happening? Give me a brief report quickly.
The Deputy raised his eyes slowly, as if trying to comprehend the gravity of the situation, then took a deep breath and said:
Deputy: (in a disturbed voice) The organization "Gods" has ordered some of its dormant cells within the American air force to rebel and carry out individual and suicidal operations. The response was due to the American government's arrest of Leonardo Borgia, the only one holding the rank of "God".
The President's heart raced and signs of shock appeared on his face. That organization, which was once a tool in their hands during the Cold War against the Soviet Union, has now become a dangerous enemy beyond control.
President: (in astonishment) The "Gods" organization... How did it expand like this?
The President quickly recalled the history of the organization: how it was created to confront the Russian mafia, which was aiding the Soviet Union, and how after the collapse of the Soviet Union it began to expand unchecked, exploiting American ambitions and the personal influence of some deputies.
President: (with fear and determination in his voice) Do you have any idea about the size of the dormant cells, the overall damage, and the size of the imminent threat?
Deputy: (trying to maintain composure) We cannot calculate or enumerate the dormant cells due to the organization's interference in society. All Americans, even the presidential guard, are under suspicion. The influence and rules of the "Gods" organization exist worldwide. I believe this rebellion is just a warning. As for the damage, several military bases were hit and missiles and vehicles were destroyed. The material damage is being assessed, and there have been no human casualties so far.
The President felt the weight of the words, as if he bore the fate of the entire nation on his shoulders.
President: (desperately) What about Leonardo? Who is he and what is his importance to the organization?
The Deputy slowly extended his hand and gave the President a thin file containing only three pages. The President quickly skimmed through the papers, his eyes filled with anger.
President: (angrily) What is this? This file doesn't contain any important or detailed information.
Deputy: (calmly) This is what was collected by the FBI and CIA in cooperation with Interpol. The lack of information is due to the difficulty of finding someone who dealt with him or was his enemy, as the dormant cells intervened to obstruct and halt the investigation.
The President felt the pressure mounting on him, but he gathered his strength and said:
President: We are a nation of law and we do not surrender to any threat from terrorists or criminal organizations. All ministers should start a wide-ranging military operation...
The ministers exchanged hesitant glances, but everyone realized that the moment was critical and the decision had been made. Rapid movements began, and the room was filled with orders and discussions, while the President remained standing, contemplating the uncertain future awaiting his country.
