I was dreading this meeting. As easy as it was to deal with Malina, Oglo on the other hand was a bigger mystery than me. She looked like she could see right through your soul. As much as I hated her, I aspired to have her level of confidence, and mysticism one day.
"Well, well, well, look who has finally decided to grace us with their presence, our very own young, new, energetic and cunning leader" The last part, the cunning part, I heard it in my head. She didn't say it in front of everybody else. She whispered it in my head. A powerful spell, to get in the head of another powerful witch.
We were in the same dining hall as before, it was time for dinner. But this time, I have showered and actually made an effort to look good. With combed hair, fresh makeup and my best cloak, I looked like the Leader I was.
Witches and wizards slowly started making their appearance too, everybody curiously staring at Oglo and me, trying to decipher what we were talking about and why she was here. Edward was nowhere in sight. I wanted him to be here though, he could give me the strenght I need to deal with his mother.
"I'm not sure if you are even considered a part of a coven now Oglo, since you only decide to make appearances after decades" I retorted back. She knew I hated her. And she knew that we both won't hold back on insulting each other.
"Lovely Aurora, I won't say your words hurt me, becuase they don't. But why kick me out of the coven, or the council. You know you can't do that. Or should I say, won't do that."
She was right, I couldn't kick her out. She was a powerful asset and helped the coven many times, in the past. I can not forget that. And I know she will be an asset in the future too. Witches have many mythical abilities and one of them is intuition. Powerful witches like me have intuitions that turn out true many times. We cannot ignore them even if we try. But I had to give an appropriate reply to Oglo too, so I ended up bringing my next best argument.
"But you can always act civil and actually show up for the annual council meeting once in a while, you have a responsibility!" I seethed out. I didn't like people who didn't fulfil their responsibilities.
"My, my, so much hostility from somone as small as you, little witch" She smirked at me, I wasn't little. 5'8 as a witch was a respectable height. It wasn't my fault that she was build like a giant. She stood at a whopping 6'2 with big doe eyes, a fat nose, full lips, short curly hair and a body which was covered with muscle. She didn't look like a witch at all. Witches are normally short heighted and not with a lot of muscle, because we don't train ourselves physically like othwr creatures do. Our training is mainly mentally.
Nevertheless, her insulting me, made my blood boil.
"And why would you even want poor old me to show face at every annual council meeting. It's not like I wanted to see former leader Malvick's face. Good thing, you got rid of him. Anyways, I didn't had much to report, so I didn't show up."
My eyes widened at her statement. She knew that I had something to do with Malvick's disappearance. Ofcourse she did. I wouldn't be shocked if she knew the whole truth. Or even saw everything with her own eyes with the golden globe. The globe that shows you whatever it wants to show you. The past, present or the future.
But what really caught my attention was her last statement. This means, that now she has something to report. And I was more than curious to know what she wanted to tell me. Because the last time she made an appearance like this, 12 years back, she reported things that I did not like one bit. And with the way her eyes twinkled with mischievousness and a smirk formed around her lips, I had an idea that I will not like it this time too. And I was proven right, when she slipped close to me, bending down to my height and whispered in my ear.
"Lovely Aurora, you have way less time than I predicted. Doom is so close." And then she vanished right before my eyes.
