Aurora Malstov
She stood out like a sore thumb and my mood instantly dampened. I should have known that if Edward was in the castle after so long, so was his mother too. She is always attached to his hip. I gave a sour look to Edward and he looked apologetic while I passed the oddly shaped woman and sat on the headchair in the dining hall. Many wizards and witches looked astonished and stopped talking, eating and even moving. Everyone was shocked, while Oglo looked smug as hell, as if she knew why I sat there. As if she knew every damn secret of the universe!
"What is the meaning of this disrespect, Aurora! We all appreciate you as a very dear comrade of leader Malvick, but what you cannot do, is take his place in his absence." I laughed as General b***h, as I liked to call him, stood up and shouted from his chair, 2 seats down on the left from where I was sitting. Murmurs started going around the hall as people gathered around us. Good, I needed everyone in one place too.
"General Mitch, please don't lose composure in front of our young royals over something as little of a problem as this. What would they take from this? That the general of a coven doesn't know how to check his e-mails and do his work?" He looked confused for a second and then his eyes widened in realization. He knows he missed something, was caught slacking at his work and got insulted in front of everybody. Angry fumes started appearing out of his ears and the ground started shaking from the immense anger he was feeling. He was channeling his anger across the energy of the room unknowingly. Pathetic, can't even control his powers.
With a flick of my thumb, the ground stopped moving and the chaos subsided in the room that was spread by the lack of professionality exhibited by General b***h. He was an incompetent man. Always indulging in self-pleasure, blocking the work of coven from his mind. When it gets into my hands, he will be the first one off of this council. He looked more furious now, but this time his power couldn't shake the ground. I had bottled it up.
"Everyone! Please calm down! I know you all are wondering why I took our dear leader Malvick's place. The council already knows, except General Mitch, of course," I gave him the side eye and smiled when I spotted Edward in the crowd, waiting for me to complete my explanation.
"Leader Malvick is sick. We all know that. We all know that he has served this coven for eons. He was here before all of us and I know we all wish that he had been here even after us. But despite that, we can not forget about his health and how he needs more time to gain energy due to his old age. He needed someone young to take his place-" Everyone gasped at my statement, of course he didn't want that. I added it, so people can start having the ideas I want to plot in their heads. So they start thinking that he is incapable of leading the coven.
"Of course, the most capable person of what his broad vision could see, was me. No offence to any of the other council members. The crux of what I am saying is that I have been appointed as the leader of this magnificent coven of witches and wizards, whose power excels that of every other species!" I roared, adding the last statement to take the general public on my side. Every witch loves to hear compliments. My trick worked as the group of thousands in the dining hall started cheering, accepting me as their new leader. I could feel the mixed energies in the room, most of which were welcoming. I flicked my fingers and a large contract appeared, suspended in the air with the dark red-stained stamp of leader Malvick, finally confirming my position as the leader while he laid in his bed, hopefully enjoying his last days.
As everyone looked at the contract, the power in the room shifted, coming towards me, their acceptance, submission and bonds making me feel more powerful than ever. I looked at everyone smugly. The council didn't appreciate what was happening, but they remained silent. General b***h looked like he was about to faint, but he remained silent. Edward looked concerned but he remained silent. Oglo looked as smug as ever, she also remained silent. It's not like you can talk against your leader.
I finished the last of my speech by adding, "For the first time in a century, I would like to specify my role in this coven, my role in the council. And that is being your leader. Let the feast continue!" Everyone roared for the last time and started minding their own business. Good energy fills the room. People were happy. Even though they couldn't say anything, the opinion of the public was to get a new leader appointed too. A leader powerful enough to handle all the powerful wives and wizards our coven has been creating in the last few centuries. I shared their opinion too. Nothing against former leader Malvick, but it was time that he gave reigns to someone more powerful than him. Me. I was glad that I could finally lead this coven from the front, not from the back, as I've been doing for sometime now. My intelligence, decisions and advice, marked as the work of the former leader.
I don't mind that now though, whatever that keeps the coven prosperous. But now me being the official leader, it gave me the power that I craved. Not entirely, but it will surely help me achieve my best. The best. This power is still not enough. The whole energy combined with millions of witches and wizards is still not enough to make me full. I crave something else. Something that is present in that chest.
