Ira
What just happened? Did I fall asleep on the book? It was one of those, History of werewolf books, but I wasn't reading! I hadn't even seen the name of the volume. Which volume was it? I was too busy trying to tolerate that pain!
She closed her eyes and tried to direct her thoughts into the depths of her brain to tease the memory. She wanted to see if the pain engulfed her again. Nothing happened. So she tried to pull up the image of the cover of the book. The words floated into her brain forming an image...
YASS! The first volume! Travel methods! I had placed the bookmark on 'the legend of the great travel'! Was it so boring that I fell asleep? Or is this a new way for me to read books? Quite interesting!
She breathed out, still thinking. At least the pain is gone! I should wake up now. Need to get fre*king genealogy sorted. I don't want to be around that haughty b***h when she slips a ring on Liam's finger!
She glanced around the deck of the ancient looking ship, rocking on the gentle waves of the sea. The orange orb at the horizon looked far away, and the sky looked clear as the light from the sun made patterns of different shades of yellow and orange. She couldn't make out the time by looking at the sky, so she directed her attention back to the ship.
Thankfully, she was hidden behind a shaft, and the main deck was deserted. The ship looked huge but not as large as some vessels that she had been used to seeing. The modern huge cruisers and large vessels floating in the water were mammoth. This one looked like a toy in front of them.
She could see the beak of the ship. Although she knew little about ships, her dad had sometimes taken her out sailing and shared stories with her. So she had a slight idea of the type of ship she was on. It looked like one from a prehistoric era.
Had she seen this kind of ship in the movie Troy? Her mind wandered.
She heard a sailor's call and turned around. Someone was talking loudly on the quarterdeck near the wheel. Looked like the four hefty sailors were arguing. Their huge burly bodies towered over each other, but the man controlling the ship was clearly the boss.
He looked older, and she blushed, thinking about the similarities between that man and Liam.
His height looked the same, and so did his posture. Was she dreaming about Liam again?
She couldn’t hear their words clearly, so she cautiously moved forward, making sure that she made no noise. The ship appeared to have very few people on the deck, so thankfully, no one stopped her.
As she headed closer to the arguing group, the voices got clearer. The older man also sounded like Liam.
She sighed at her obsession with him. Clearly, she was dreaming about him.
Liam yelled, “I said ENOUGH! We already knew the perils of this journey! You go down the deck and stay with your packs. I want no more fights! Your brains are already dead because of this squabbling! GET LOST NOW! Before I rip your throats apart!” His gruff voice sounded serious and sinister in his threat.
Ira shuddered, wondering what kind of strangely realistic dream it was. The constant wobbling of the boat brought about a wave of nausea, reminding her she hadn’t had any food that day. She pinched her arm to wake herself up. It would be stupid to choke on your own vomit while grieving for your manipulative mate!
Liam’s thoughts clouded her mind as she re-lived the agony of finding out that he had agreed to the engagement.
It was going to happen! After their morning rendezvous, she has hoped that things might change.
But he was going to get married even when they had this smouldering chemistry between them.
“You may come out of your hiding now!” Liam's voice froze her, although her heart continued to hammer against her chest.
Is he speaking to me? How does he know?
“I know you are here already! I was expecting you. If you don’t want me to use my powers, come out in the open now!” His voice commanded.
She slapped her hand against her forehead.
Stupid me! He is a werewolf! He would have smelled me! Even in my dreams, Liam can sniff me out! She blushed, remembering the details of her morning release. Her core throbbed with the memory and Liam’s voice boomed again.
“Woman! stop your thoughts. I don’t want the unmated wolves to fight over you. They will be able to smell your arousal.”
That acted like cold water for Ira as she squared her shoulders, still hiding behind one of the masts. Liam was equally arrogant in her dreams! She slapped herself, trying in vain to wake up.
Suddenly, her feet lifted off the deck as she floated up in the air and her short summer dress billowed in the wind blowing from the sea. She brought her raised hands down to hold her dress in place. Even in her dreams, she did not want Liam to see her legs. Period.
She wondered if she had gone crazy because of the weird pain in her chest before she fell asleep. Could the betrayal of the mate bond affect someone this way?
She glided towards Liam and slowly landed on her feet. As if the wind thickened around her legs, only so that her landing would be safe.
She looked at Liam and gasped. That wasn't Liam. He was a different person. He definitely had similarities to Liam, but his nose was strange, as if it was broken in the past and its healing had left a deformity. His forehead was wider, giving him a unique, rough, and scary look.
He also had a slight overbite, but that did nothing to lessen his magnetism.
He bowed to her, even as she continued to stare at him rudely. She couldn’t fathom who the guy was and why was he in her dreams!
“Who are you?” He asked in the same sexy gruff voice that she had developed an unhealthy liking for.
She blinked, still trying to make sense of what was happening. Waiting to wake up anytime. But the wakefulness eluded her.
“Are you deaf or mute?” He pointed at his ears and lips as he raised his eyebrows and asked her the next question.
She shook her head.
“Then why the f**k are you not answering?” His voice rose as he gritted his teeth. A vein ticked at his temples and Ira instinctively stepped back, knowing that he was getting angry.
He ran a hand through his hair, which was slightly longer than Liam’s.
She knew this sign very well and before there could be any backlash, she responded, “I am Ira. Who are you?” feeling relieved at the way her voice sounded confident and stable. She was anything but confident at that time as her heart continued to race at an impossible pace.
He scoffed. “You look confused! I did not expect that. I am the werewolf king Remus. Aren't you the fair maiden of the new land?”
