CRASH

CHAPTER 7

We were in the house. Adam looking through his books and Violet arranging her weapons.

We have been here two days and nothing happened.

Violet was distant after sharing her story with me. We still had not found out why ODE was after me and nothing related to the spaceship either.

Violet looked calm and I decided it would be a great time to talk to her and ask questions. She had been in communication with her bosses so maybe there was some kind of news or information that she could have gotten.

I stood up and was walking to meet her when a shot was fired and the bullet went past my ear barely grazing it.

"Everybody down" Violet screamed. I went down quickly. Covering my head. Sounds of glass shattering and gunshots were heard.

I was dragged by my foot, my head hitting the legs of the table. I struggled to get my leg free until my attached was shot.

Another grabbed my collar and lifted me up. He threw me across the room and I banged my head against the wall. He c****d his gun as he approached me.

He was shot down before he got to me. I looked up to see Adam. He was the one who saved me. He threw a gun at me.

I fumbled with the gun. Holding it tightly and pointing it at the air. I did not know how to operate a f*****g gun.

Give me a phone or computer or laptop and I will do perfect but not a f*****g gun.

I was knocked down from the back with a blow to my head. The guard advanced and I held the gun, pointing it at him. He paused for a moment then continued coming towards me.

I pressed the click on the gun with my eyes closed not wanting to see who I shot. Nothing came out. There was no f*****g bullet.

Screw this. I threw the gun away and stood up. Running towards the guard, I jumped, pushing him to the ground with me on top. I threw blind punches on his face. Not stopping until his helmet was ruined.

"I think he gets the message now" Violet said emotionlessly. Adam snickered.

I looked back at the guard and stood up quickly. I looked at my fist and the damaged helmet. I had done that? God I felt like puking.

Adam hauled the guard up and tied him to a chair. Violet pulled the ruined helmet from his face and I gasped.

It was not..... It was not human.

"That is a robot" I said dumbly. Obviously they had all seen it.

We had been fighting robots this whole time? Well not we. Them. But you get what I mean.

I looked closer to inspect the face when the eyes suddenly opened. Glowing a bright red.

The robot began to struggle violently against the chair.

"Find man. Kill him. Retrieve the pyramid" what is he saying?

"Find man. Kill him. Retrieve the pyramid" He continued in his robotic voice.

"Find man. Kill him. Retrieve the pyramid" he continued struggling violently.

"Find man. Kill him. Retri......." Bang. I looked at Violet who fired the shot.

"Why did you kill it" Adam asked.

"He was going to break free and attack"

"He was giving us information"

"Something he has said three times. Find man. Kill him. Retrieve the pyramid. I didn't think you were that slow" she insulted him.

Adam stood up and moved towards her.

"Guys now is not the time" she turned to me angrily.

"You bastard" she glared at me.

"What did I do?"

"I asked you what you took from them and you denied not knowing"

"I did not take anything from them and I don't know why they are after me"

"Those robots were sent to retrieve a pyramid. Ring any bell?"

Pyramid? Pyramid? Pyramid?

Shit how could I forget.

"You sick f**k" she said angrily.

"You took something. I have been risking my life thinking you knew nothing. Meanwhile you have something that belongs to them"

"I did not know it belonged to them"

"That does not matter. Bring it out. Let us find out what it is and why they want it" she said.

"I do not have it anymore"

"What the f**k is that supposed to mean"

"I found it at the back of my mothers garden. While I was inspecting it, it cut me. My blood spilled on it and it glowed red. Lightening struck and then the black out. Then there was intense pain throughout my body especially at my chest. Then it all stopped. The lights came back and I passed out. When I woke up the next morning, I was different. My body has changed overnight. I had abs and muscles and then this red thingy in my chest that won't go away." I showed them the red thing stuck in my chest.

"The pyramid was nowhere to be found and I did not have time to inspect before they attacked me and you showed up" I finished breathlessly.

"How you forgot to mention this whole thing shakes me to my bones" Adam said.

"I did not think it was related to why they wanted to kill me"

"Ahhh...." Adam hummed. He kept looking at me then at his book.

"Did the pyramid look like this?" I nodded.

"That's it. Remember when I told you the spaceship didn't run on fuel. They made me design this at the front of the ship. And the rock they talked about? The one that could power earth? I think that's the pyramid you found. They need to retrieve the pyramid to power their ship....."

"And destroy earth" I said. Everything had clicked.

"Yes. Wait what? Destroy earth?"

I looked at Violet who had been silent all this while before I continued.

"Violet's patents were asked to build a kind of spaceship. They refused because her father thought it could destroy earth. And now you've built it and they need this pyramid to power it"

Now everything was clear. They were going to keep coming until they got what they wanted.
