Eli POV
I was relieved once Eliza had finally passed out. Once we got back to the packhouse, I threw her over my shoulder and carried her inside. I knew most of the pack would be in at this time of night, so I didn't have to worry about being caught. I quickly got to my house and opened the door.
“Finally, I thought she had gotten you to change your mind about me!” Christa said sarcastically.
“No one could ever get me to change my mind about you!” I say, chuckling. “It took forever to get her drunk enough to pass out. I had to sit there and act like I was enjoying her company. Now, where do you want her?”
“Over there is fine.” Christa points out to me.
There is a chair in the middle of the living room with silver chains and handcuffs ready. I drop Eliza into the chair as she mumbles and moans in her passed-out state. Once I get her in the chair, Amanda begins to secure her in her seat. When I’m sure Amanda has her taken care of, I lead Christa to the bedroom and take her into my arms.
“I missed you!”
“I missed you too,” I say as I kiss the top of her head.
Christa begins to sniff me and pulls back with a frown.
“What’s wrong?”
“You smell like her.” I can’t help but sigh.
“I’m sorry, love. It was difficult keeping her hands off of me once she got drunk. Let me go take a shower.”
**Christa**
Eli had been taking forever! I couldn't help but pace back and forth in the living room where Amanda had helped me set up for Eliza.
“Do you think I made a mistake? What if this whole thing doesn't work?”
“Christa, it will work. It was a brilliant idea!”
“But what if she's able to seduce him somehow and he changes his mind?”
“She won’t. Once my brother has his mindset on something or someone, nothing can change his mind.”
“Well, what if she catches on to him and something happens?” Amanda walks over to me, grabs my shoulders, facing me, and forces me to stop pacing.
“Everything is going to work out fine. I promise. There is no reason to worry yourself to death. Now, do what I do. Take a deep breath in, ” she breathes in, and I follow her lead, “and out, in and out. Again. In and out. See, now that wasn’t so bad, was it?”
Right after I begin to calm down, we hear the door open, and I see Eli coming in with a passed-out Eliza in his arms.
“Finally, I thought she had gotten you to change your mind about me!” I say half-truth and half-joking.
“No one could ever get me to change my mind about you!” He says, chuckling. “It took forever to get her drunk enough to pass out. I had to sit there and act like I was enjoying her company. Now, where do you want her?”
“Over there is fine,” I say as I point at the chair, ready for Eliza to be tied down.
Once Eli drops her into the chair, he walks over to me, taking my hand, and leads me into the bedroom. He closes the door behind him and lets out a long tired sigh. Then he walks over to me and takes me in his arms.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too.”
As I stand there with him holding me, I take in a deep breath to help calm me, but it does the opposite. I can smell her all over him. I pull back and look into his eyes. I can feel Amya wanting to come to the surface.
“What’s wrong?”
“You smell like her.”
“I’m sorry, love. It was difficult keeping her hands off of me once she got drunk. Let me go take a shower.”
Just the thought of her having her hands all over him made my heart pump faster, and my hands get clammy. I could feel Amya trying to get to the surface.
“She put her hands all over our mate! I’m going to kill her! I’m going to rip out her eyes, and after that, her hands, and then last but not least, after she’s suffered, I will rip out her heart! I will make her regret she even set eyes on our mate!”
“Amya, you need to control yourself! We still need her alive.” I say, standing in the bedroom shaking uncontrollably, trying to hold Amya back.
“Eli!” I yell out. Before I know it, Eli is in front of me, still soaked with soap and water. He grabs a hold of me, bringing me in close to his body, not caring that he’s getting me soaked as well.
“I. Can’t. Control. Her.” I say, shaking, my eyes switching back and forth.
“Sshhh, Amya, listen to me. You need to calm down.” Eli says, looking into my eyes. “I’m here, Amya. You don’t have to worry. I’m here!”
Slowly, Amya begins to calm down, with Eli holding me tight, and Eliza’s scent washed off of Eli. Amya is able to get a hold of herself.
“I’m sorry, Christa.” Amya apologizes. “I didn't mean to scare you.”
“It’s ok, but I need you to control yourself better. I’m still not strong enough to fight the change when you're enraged. I need you to work with me here!”
“I’ll do my best,” Amya says.
“Are you ok now?” Eli asks.
“Yes, we’re good now,” I say as I nod.
“You scared me for a moment.” I can't help but chuckle.
“You? I scared myself!” Eli laughs and kisses my forehead before he leaves to finish with his shower.
Once Eli is out of the shower, he climbs into bed next to me and pulls me into himself to cuddle. He takes in a deep breath inhaling my scent to no doubt calm his own wolf. It feels like we haven't been able to just lay like this in forever.
“Mmmm, this is nice.” Eli moans.
“Shouldn’t we be out in the living room with Amanda?”
“We have plenty of time before she wakes up, but for now, let me just lay here with you in my arms and close my eyes,” Eli says, exhausted. As I lie next to him, my eyes start to get heavy, and I end up falling asleep as well.

A few hours later, Amanda knocks on the door.
“She’s awake, sleepy heads!” Amanda calls out.
“Ugh, why does she have to ruin even my sleep?” I whine, covering my head with my pillow. Eli chuckles at me, taking my pillow away from me.
“Hey! I was using that!” I say, trying to reach for my pillow, but it's too far away, so all I can do is stare daggers at Eli, but it makes him laugh even more.
“I was just getting the best sleep I’ve had in days! I can’t sleep when you're not here!”
“I’m sorry, sweetheart. Hopefully, I’ll be able to spend more time at home after all of this is over with.”
“I hope so!” I say, sighing my displeasure.
I slowly, lazily get out of bed while Eli is already dressed and ready to go.
“How do you do it?” I ask while Eli chuckles.
“After a while, you get used to it.”
“I don’t want to get used to it!” Eli laughs even harder, so I roll my eyes at him.
When we make it out to the living room, where Eliza is being held, she doesn't notice us as she is going crazy trying to get free of her chains.
“Let me go!” She screams out! Finally, once she's stopped fighting for a moment, her eyes come up, and the first thing she sees is Eli. She glares at him and starts yelling at him.
“You tricked me , you son of a…”
“Ah-ah-ah, let's not use that kind of language here,” I say, interrupting her sentence. As soon as she realizes I’m still alive, her eyes go wide with shock, and the color drains from her face.
“You… you… you're s-s-supposed to be dead!”
“Well, I’m not. I’m here in the flesh!” I say, smirking.
“Aaaaaaahhhhhhh, I hate you, you f…”
“What did I say about using that kind of language?” I say, cutting her off once again.
“Screw you!” She says, spitting at my face.” Calmly, I wipe my face clean and then slap her across her face. My eyes begin switching back and forth, Amya wanting to get free.
“Y-y-you changed!” Eliza stutters. “He ch-ch-changed you.” She says as if in denial, shaking her head. “That’s not possible! You… you're human!”
“Oh, it is very, very possible!” I say, getting back down to eye level with her, “And now, Eli knows your secret.”
“I-I-I don’t know what you're talking about?” Eliza shakes her head violently.
“Oh, so that wasn’t you who came into my room when Lex kidnaped me?”
“N-n-no, it wasn’t!” She screams out. She looks at Eli pleading, “she’s lying! You can’t trust her!”
“Oh really, and tell me why shouldn't I trust my own mate?” Eli asks.
“B-because… because… because she made you believe that she’s your mate by giving you a magic love potion! That's why!” She says, satisfied with her answer; she smirks.
“What are you talking about?” Eli asks.
“She’s tricked you and your wolf into thinking you're her mate by slipping a magic love potion into you somehow. It makes you believe and feel a real mate connection, but it's not true.”
“She’s lying, Eli!” I look at him, hoping he does not believe in the crap she's trying to feed him.
“Let’s just kill her and be done with her!” Amya says.
“No, we can’t. We need her.” I tell Amya.
“We can figure it out ourselves. She's just going to cause us more issues.” Amya responds.
“Amya, I said no!” I say, frustrated with everything going on. Amya doesn't say anything else. Instead, she lets out a huff.
“And how is it you know about this potion?” Eli asks.
“I-I-I just do,” Eliza says.
“That’s not a good enough answer,” Eli says, his voice getting deeper.
“I-I learned it from Monika, okay! Are you happy now?” Eliza yells out.
“Where did Monika learn about this potion?” I ask.
“Well, you're just going to have to ask her now, aren’t you?” She said as she smirked as she'd won. “Eli, you have to believe me. She's tricked you!”
“And pray tell, how I would have slipped this potion to Eli when I didn't even know who he was?”
“I-I-I, AAAHHHH, I don't know! You tell me!” Eliza yells out in frustration.
“That’s right. You don't know because it didn't happen. But you, on the other hand. That was YOUR plan. Wasn't it?... WASN’T IT?”
“I don't know what you're talking about?”
“How did you know it would work?” Eli asks.
“You think I’m going to just tell you? My mouth is sealed. I’m not telling you a damn thing!”
“Oh no? Well, we’ll just see about that.” Eli looks off and calls out, “Rebecca, you ready?” Rebecca waltzes into the room with a smile.
“I’ve always wanted to try this potion out!” Rebecca says excitedly.
“What… What… Wait… What is that?” Eliza says, panicking.
“Well, Eliza, you're going to tell us everything you know!” I say with a sadistic smile. As Rebecca begins walking towards Eliza, Eliza starts to shake her head back and forth.
“No, no, you can’t make me drink it!” Eliza yells, trying to fight.
“You wanna bet?” Rebecca says.
Eli walks behind the chair to hold her head still. As Rebecca puts the potion up to Eliza’s mouth, she closes her lips tight so that Rebecca can’t get the liquid in. So Rebecca pinches Eliza’s nose shut so she can’t breathe, and once Eliza gasps for air, Rebecca quickly pours the liquid down her throat, causing Eliza to choke and gag.
“There… that wasn’t so bad, was it?” Rebecca asks as she holds her chin shut so she can’t spit it out.
All Eliza can do is glare at her as she does her best to catch her breath.
“It should only take a couple of minutes to kick in.” Rebecca tells Eli.
To make sure it's working, I ask her again the question she didn't want to answer.
“How did you know about the potion?”
“Monika told me about it.”
“And how did she know it would work?” I ask. Eliza gulps loudly and begins sweating.
“I-I-I can’t…”
“Tell me. The more you fight it, the more painful it will get.”
“B-b-because it worked for Monika!” Eliza yells out.
Everyone stood dead silent.
“What do you mean it worked for Monika?” Eli asks.
“S-s-she used it on Pete!” Eliza says, sweat dripping down her face.
“What are you saying? Monika isn’t his true mate.” I ask, still in shock.
“Nnnnn YES!” She yells out. She tried to lie, but the potion won’t allow her to.
Everyone gasps, all in shock. I look at Eli, and he walks over to comfort me. All I can think about is how heartbroken Pete is going to be. I can’t help but be pissed off for him. I’m going to kill her when I get my hands on her!
