Fighting For My Mate: Blood Moon

Chapter 8

Christa POV

     I’ve never really been good at sneaking around, and I’m an even worse liar. So when Amya came up with the idea of sneaking out to practice in our wolf form, I wasn't sure it was a good idea. I was primarily worried about being caught in the act by Eli or if he even suspected me speaking out and asked me about it; I knew I wouldn't be able to lie to him. 

“Are you sure we should be doing this?” I questioned Amya.

“Yes! We need to practice, and this is the only way!” 

“I’m blaming you if this falls apart. You know that, right?” Amya laughs.

“You and I are one. So you can’t blame me without also blaming yourself!” 

“Okay, miss smarty pants.” 

“Hey, you wear the pants in this relationship!” I couldn't help but giggle at that. She has a point!

“Okay, we’re almost at the garage,” I say as I come up closer to the door and quietly peek out of the door. 

“It looks like the coast is clear!” 

     I inch my way out, keeping my back against the wall as I look to my left then my right. Luckily there is a side door from the garage that leads to the outside. I begin heading towards the door when I hear voices getting closer. 

“Oh no! Someone’s coming!” I say to Amya. I quickly look for somewhere to hide. 

“Quick! Under the vehicle!” Amya tells me. 

“Are you crazy? What if they leave?” 

“Just do it!” Amya yells. 

     I jump into action and roll myself underneath the vehicle stopping on my stomach, and I prop myself up as I cover my mouth so as not to make any sound. Just as I make it under the SUV, the two voices get closer, and I can see their feet come into view. I do my best to slow my breathing down and not to make any sounds! 

“Amya, if we get out of this, I’m gonna kill you!”

“Oh, don’t be so dramatic, Christa! We’re going to be fine!” She says, rolling her eyes. Just as she says that the men begin walking away and head back into the packhouse! I can't help but let out a sigh of relief. 

“See! I told you we would be fine!” 

“Uh-huh, we’re still not out of trouble yet! I won’t be happy until we’re back home in Eli’s arms!”

“We’ll be back before he even knows we're gone! Now, let's go; we’re clear!” Amya says. I took off into the trees before anyone had a chance to spot me! 

“We need to get out of Eli’s territory if we don't want to be caught?” 

“On it!” 

     My feet carry me as far as I can go until it's time to change into wolf form. Once we are far enough away that we are comfortable enough that Eli’s warriors won’t catch us; I begin to pull my close off, hiding them behind a tree. 

     For the second time in my life, I began my change into my wolf form. The second time around isn’t as bad. It still burns and itches, and I have some pain in my muscles and bones as they begin to shift, but it's much more tolerable. 

“Okay, I can do this! This isn’t so bad!” I say to myself. I close my eyes and let the shift happen, and when I open my eyes, I’m looking down at my paws. I begin to explore my wolf form and start to dig, jump around, acting like a giant puppy; I scratch my side against the trees and roll around the dirt, taking in nature around me! After exploring for a bit, I see a small pond and walk over to it to get a drink of water. When I look down, I see my reflection in my wolf form for the first time ever! 

“Woah… We’re beautiful.” I whispered.

     I didn't realize it before, but my fur is like no wolf I’ve ever seen before! No wonder the others couldn't help but stare! If others saw me in my wolf form, they would know I am different, and being different is dangerous in my world! No wonder Eli didn't want to let me out of his sight after I shifted. 

     I continue to look at myself and shake my fur loose. As I do, I can see how my fur shines, and in the sun, it looks like it's glimmering. The gold and silver are competing with each other. It looks like fire and ice. While the fire looks as if it’s glowing, the ice looks like it's sparkling. It looks so majestic! My coat is also long, so the fire and ice mix in with each other giving it a magical appearance. In real life, fire and ice could never mix, but my fur shows just how beautiful it could be if it did! 

     After practicing our movements in wolf form and strengthening ourselves, we decide it's time to start heading back. As I head back to the tree where I left my clothes, I get a weird creepy feeling that sends shivers down my spine. I look around me, but I don't see or smell anyone close by. So I shrug it off and continue heading towards my clothes. When I get to my clothes, I can’t help but feel like I’m being watched. I feel like there are a pair of eyes burning a hole through me, so I look around again but still, I can't see or smell any humans or werewolves close by. I change back into my human form and start to get dressed when I hear a stick snap. I startle thinking I’ve been caught, so I hurry to finish dressing and take off as fast as possible into Eli’s territory. When I reach the trees that sit at the edge of the packhouse, I slow down and look around my surroundings to make sure no one is around before I book it to the side of the garage where the side door is. I slowly open it and carefully look around to make sure the coast is clear before finding the secret door that leads straight to Eli’s apartment. 

     Once I get to the door, I look around to make sure no one is looking and head straight for the bedroom! I quietly close the door behind me and let out a deep sigh of relief.

“We did it! We actually did it!” 

“See! I told you I had everything under control!” 

**Lex**

     I decided to go hunting to let off some steam. Now that there were humans hunting for me, I needed to stay away from my previous hunting ground. At least until things calmed down. When I killed my first human, I realized that I could feed off their power. It wasn’t as much as killing a powerful Alpha, but it was better than nothing. Right now, I can't kill any new humans. I can’t afford to bring attention so close to where I live. So I decided to let my wolf roam and hunt for animals. That is until I saw her. 

     She was the most beautiful she-wolf I have ever seen! I couldn’t help but be enthralled with her as her long coat shimmered and glowed in the beams of sunlight. As I watched her admire her coat in the reflection of the water, I hid myself so that I would go unnoticed. I made sure she wouldn’t be able to see nor smell me close by as I observed her! Who is this she-wolf? I knew when I watched her that she was powerful. I wonder if this is the wolf my men were telling me about. Even though they couldn't see her, they could feel her power, just like I can feel her power! She turned away from the water and began practicing in her wolf form, and I got to see just how powerful she really is with my own eyes! 

     As I sat watching her, entranced by her power and beauty, I was suddenly hit with a flash of memory. It wasn't the life I am in now; no, this is another life that I have lived. I’m looking at a beautiful girl who I plan to make my mate! She turns into a beautiful she-wolf, wait… that’s the same she-wolf I see now! The vision quickly changes to the beautiful girl in the arms of another man. It makes me angry; I want to kill the man who dares to lay his hands on what belongs to me! Just as I think that the vision changes once again, to the man laying on board with his arms and legs tied up. I watch as I give the order to kill him with this torture machine, and I watch and relish him dying at my hands as my mate watches him die. She screams helplessly as I hold her back in my arms. I can’t help but feel smug as I watch this vision, but my happiness was short-lived as my mate began to draw in power I didn't realize she had. I watched helplessly as she killed all my men in one fell swoop and turned her attention to me. I watched as she watched me slowly die and promised me that if I ever came back, she would kill me for good. 

     After the vision ended, I realized she was no longer around. I quickly followed her track and found her walking toward a tree. I watched as she turned back into her human form. As she slowly turned around as if she sensed something nearby, I nearly gasped as I saw her face. I stumbled backward in disbelief and stepped on a twig causing it to make a loud snap. By the time I looked up to see her, she was gone! I stayed in place as I realized just how big this revelation is! History repeats itself; he may have her now, but I will take back what belongs to me and make her mine, and this time I will win! I know what I’m dealing with, and I’m much more powerful than I was back then! Killing powerful Alpha’s all these years to gain power was no coincidence. Little did I know I was preparing for a war of a lifetime!
