It's autumn part-2

420 Words
I ran behind her and eventually caught up to her. She stopped walking and turned towards me. It was an autumn- night. The air is windy and it's chilly. I thought that it is the perfect time to talk to her. "Can I talk to you?" I said. "Yes, Mr Watterson. Is it something about your work?" She said without even looking at me. "It's not about work. We went to the same high school, do you remember me?" I asked hopefully. "Of course I do", she stopped after a while, she said, "how do you think I would forget about someone who played with my emotions and my feelings?" She snarled at me with tears in her eyes. "I am…… so sorry El" I barely managed to say those words. Do you think your sorry makes what you did undone? And one more thing I don't think you are that close to me to call me like that. I would prefer Ms Eleanor and please don't talk to me unless it is about work." Her words stabbed my heart. Even though what she said was harsh, I might have deserved it. I watched her back while she walked away. I didn't know my eyes were filled with tears until then. The night is especially cold just like the day I have seen her for the very first time. ****** 7 years back, when I was in my first year of graduation, I saw her. My 19-year-old self was a very good player both in sports and relationships. Being handsome made it, even more, easier to skip those relations. I have never taken any of them seriously. It was just like any other day but what made it even more beautiful was her acquaintance. The day I first saw her. An ordinary pair of glasses, a school uniform, a scarf and a sweater covering her thin body from the autumn chills and a high ponytail. She was looking simple yet beautiful. I forgot that I was staring at her until my best friend Lucas dragged me into this world. I was always surrounded by friends with me back then. He was the only one with whom I can share anything with. He then started talking about this girl whom I was caught starting at. She was a study bug, never looked at anything other than books, countless guys tried to get close but none succeeded. Then happened the thing that I regret the rest of my life. The bet.
