Chapter 1
Feliz.
“Feliz! How are you? and.. what are these?” My friend, Daliah, mentioned while taking a seat. I invited her to a cafe in a mall because I was so bored!
“I'm bored, you know! These are just a few things I bought inside.” I said as I sipped on my iced coffee. This cafe really has the best iced coffee!
“Few you say..” she started counting the paper bags that were beside me. “That's eleven paper bags. Do you have bodyguards nearby?” I sipped again as I pointed my fingers on the two bodyguards outside the cafe. She sighed and dramatically looked at me.
“Seriously, Feliz. You should spend less on shopping. Try saving up, will you?”
“Why would I? My parents are rich.” Besides, money is all they can give to me, and Daliah knows that so she can't really do anything about this behavior of mine.
I was 12 when I realized that my parents didn't really care about my existence at all. No show at any parent attendance activities at school. Not there when I had achievements in life. Not there when I needed them the most. All they can give to a child who needs their attention is the money that they are working hard for. Since they are always busy making that money and making this family rich, then I'll make use of that resources!
I am self-aware of my money-wasting behavior. After all, my parents are working hard ‘for my sake’ so I'll use them properly!
“By the way, next week will be ‘that’ family tradition again! I can't believe this. What am I supposed to do there?” I complained.
“Oh, that tradition! Nothing actually, you just have to be there.”
“Yeah, right,” I said as I rolled my eyes.
This is annoying!
Every year, we have this family tradition that we will go to our province and stay there for a week. A WEEK!
It is a tradition of the family on my father's side. Luckily, I am close to most of my cousins on dad's side, or else I'll die out of boredom!
“With that said, I'll buy more clothes!” I exclaimed.
“Don't you have a whole bunch of closet? You don't need more clothes, Feliz.”
“Shoes? I definitely need rubber shoes since I didn't have that many. Do you want me to wear heels at a farm place?” Daliah sighed.
“Please just buy one or two rubber shoes. That's all you need,” she said in defeat.
“and a few slippers, I guess,” I added.
Me and Daliah went another shopping after finishing our coffee. I am forever grateful that I have a friend like her! She's always there when I need her the most, and she understands me so well! That's why I always make sure that I am also there whenever she needs me.
“Speaking of that family tradition, do you remember what you told me five years ago?” Daliah mentioned. I look at her clueless.
“What did I tell you five years ago? I can't remember at all.”
“That guy you met at that place! The one you said was hot.” It was a trigger that made my cheeks suddenly blush like cherry. “Now, you remembered!” she said, laughing. I rolled my eyes on her.
That guy… I met him five years ago, and never again. Will I meet him again this time?
