GIVE LOVE A CHANCE EP1 Andre was sound asleep when he heard what seems to be the sound of his dad's voice calling out for him, he got up faster than the speed of light as he slipped on a pair of sweat pants he'd carelessly discarded the previous night because who needs pants when they sleep right? Andre didn't want his dad to know that he was still sleeping at that time of the day (past 9am). Reason being that, his dad was a kind of man that wants his children to be awake before or by 6:30am prompt each day to help out with morning chores. "EARLY TO BED, EARLY TO RISE MAKES YOU HEALTHY AND STRONG" are his dad's famous quote that he'd often use it on them whenever he feels his children's inability to carry out their morning chores is caused by lack of sleep. Andre's dad leaned forward to scrutinize his face as he appeared in front of him, and he noticed that his dad was trying to study his face in order to determine if he'd been sleeping or not. Andre quickly grabbed his dad's shoe polish and started cleaning his shoe to prevent him from saying what he actually thought the man had in mind. "DON'T LET THIS MAN NOTICE THAT YOU WERE STILL SLEEPING BY THIS TIME ANDRE." He whispered inwardly. He was still cleaning when his dad asked him for his account number, saying he was going to make some transfer of cash to his account so that he will be able to fill the gas before his mum wakes up. Andre smiled at that because he really loves receiving credit alerts even though he knew it wasn't his to spend(i mean...who doesn't love the sweet sound of credit alert on their phone?). Andre had just walked into the living room when he met his twin sister(Anita) who was already on his favorite spot on the couch making her usual silly t****k videos. "ALRIGHT ANDRE, DON'T GO LOOKING FOR YOUR SISTER'S TROUBLE NOW. YOU KNOW DAD IS AROUND AND HE WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT HIS LITTLE GIRL NO MATTER WHAT" He said to himself while stepping back from where his sister is sitting when his elder brother(Samson) came into the living room as they began comparing educational institutions. Samson(Andre's elder brother) claimed the current university he's attending (SALEM UNIVERSITY, LOKOJA) was way bigger than that of Anita (ABU Zaria). This got Anita so pissed to the point that she said her school (ABU Zaria) has the biggest and well equipped corridor in the whole of Africa. She also claimed she could prove that her school has the best teaching staff amongst other universities. Andre stopped on his tracks when his elder brother (Samson) started laughing, saying she was lying just to make herself feel better. Andre didn't want to laugh at his sister because he knew quite alright that when it comes to comparing universities, his own (FEDERAL UNIVERSITY LAFIA) couldn't be compared to ABU or Salem university, Lokoja. So he ignored them and was about to walk out when Anita called out to him saying. "HEY ANDRE! COME AND TALK TO MY ROOMMATE, YOU KNOW THE ONE YOU HAVE A HUGE CRUSH ON..." She sang the last part with a smirk and Andre rolled his eyes at his sister's childishness. Ever since he mistakenly voiced that his sister's roommate is cute, she wouldn't shut up about him having a crush on her. "SHE'LL ALSO CONFIRM THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT I'M SAYING, MY SCHOOL'S CORRIDOR IS REALLY THE BIGGEST IN THE WHOLE OF AFRICA."Andre knew he wouldn't get out of this unscathed so he quickly collected the phone and said. "HELLO?" The young lady replied saying "HEY ANDRE" his breath caught in his lungs, he was short of words to use because he has never heard such an amazing voice before, or has he ever heard his name sound so sweet from anyone's mouth. He quickly composed himself and asked her about the corridor's stuff just to appease his sister, she did confirmed what Anita said by saying. "OUR SCHOOL'S CORRIDOR IS BIG AND WELL EQUIPPED BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S THE BIGGEST IN THE WHOLE OF AFRICA." Andre smiled at the girl's honesty and was about to ask her what her name was when Anita dragged the phone saying "THAT'S ENOUGH ROMEO, I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANNA SAY NEXT BUT I PROMISE YOU IT WON'T HAPPEN, NOT ON MY WATCH" Andre laughed out loud as his sister scowled, that girl always knows what's in his mind. Andre found himself thinking about the voice he just heard with a goofy smile and he decided then and there that he was gonna make a move, he needed to hear that voice again. He got home on time just to be dragged into another argument with Anita, forcing her to call that same girl for him to confirm one of her ridiculous claims which she did but this time Andre didn't ask her if what Anita had said was true, instead he just went straight to one question that had been on his mind. "HELLO, WHAT'S YOUR NAME?" and she replied saying. "STACEY"he quickly stored the name in his memory and vowed never to forget her name. Only when Stacey laughed and hanged up did he realized he'd actually said it out loud. He quickly handed Anita her phone and headed out while blushing furiously, he couldn't believe he'd actually said something like that without thinking twice. "HOW CAN I GET THIS NUMBER FROM ANITA?" he said out loud while stroking his chin. He then came to the conclusion that he was going to get her some snacks and after which he would casually ask her for the number, it should be that easy right? His first step of making her happy was bringing her ice cream from her favorite spot (DREAM LAND ICE CREAM). He then made up a funny story about someone in his school just to make her laugh, which actually worked somehow because she seems to be in a good mood. He was so confident that everything was going well to the point he said to himself "SHE DOESN'T GET THE JIG YET, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYTHING IS GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN. SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S UP." He then decided to strike (ask her for the number ) he was still trying to come up with the right words to ask when she gave him her phone to copy the number saying. "I GET THE JIG BRO, I KNEW YOU WAS TRYING TO GET STACEY'S NUMBER BY ACTING ALL AND STUFF" He looked at her shell shocked and she smiled while saying "I AM YOUR TWIN SISTER, I KNOW WHEN YOU NEED SOMETHING FROM ME AND I DEFINITELY KNOW WHEN YOU NEED A GIRL'S NUMBER FROM ME" he smiled genuinely. It is scary how well he and his twin know each other. He quickly copied the number as he made an attempt to hug his sister but she pushed him playfully, ordering me to get out of her room as they both laughed and he left. He instantly found himself in a state of dilemma because he didn't know what to do next after getting the number. So he said to himself "SHOULD I CALL, OR TEXT HER?" He didn't want to come up too strong, so he decided to message her instead and she replied instantly with a "HELLO" of her own. He decided to play it cool by introducing himself, and they began to chat as the conversation flowed naturally. He loved her vibe because she was getting him (like she understood everything he said to her without stress) and she found most of his jokes funny too which doesn't happen often. They'd chatted until 2am that day, also another new thing in his life. He woke up the next morning and the first thing he did was to go online and he was overjoyed when he saw messages from her and this made him the happiest boy ever. She sent a message saying "HEY SLEEPY HEAD, WAKE UP!" he replied instantly with a smirk saying. "CAPTAIN ANDRE REPORTING FOR DUTY MA'AM" and she sent a laughing emoji which made him to send some of his back and the conversation just kinda skyrocketed from there. He was then sent on an errand with the driver which he reluctantly agreed to go, so throughout the time he was away on his errand he kept on chatting with Stacey. He asked her about her birthday and she told him the date. He immediately said to himselfself "IF THIS VIBE CONTINUES, NIGGA I'M GONNA HAVE TO GET HER A GIFT FOR HER BIRTHDAY." He got home and didn't know his dad was sitting at the garden opposite the entrance of the house because he had his eyes glued to his phone, one can even say he was smiling like he had just won a lottery ticket. He was still caught up in his fantasy world when his dad said to him "ANDRE, WHAT IS MAKING YOU SMILE SO HARD THAT YOU'RE EVEN PASSING WITHOUT GREETING YOUR OWN FATHER? WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ON THAT PHONE OF YOURS THAT YOU DIDN'T SEE ME SON?..." He was still talking when Andre Interrupted him saying "NOTHING DAD, I'M JUST BROWSING ABOUT AN ASSIGNMENT THEY POSTED ON MY DEPARTMENT'S GROUP CHAT AND I AM SMILING BECAUSE I KNOW THE QUESTION VERY WELL..." His dad must have figured he was lying but he smiled and said to him "NOW, DON'T GET TOO CONFIDENT MY BOY, THAT BRING A MAN DOWN FASTER THAN ANYTHING." As he quickly smiled and excused himself. He was celebrating in his head as he did a quick victory dance praising himself for that lie he'd just came up with because he knew that was a narrow escape for anyone who knows his father. He knew quite alright that if he hadn't lied, his dad would have asked to see his phone or even worse collected it from him as would've probably gone through his phone to see what he was doing. In his head he could hear his own voice hailing him saying "YARON BABANSHI" which means (SON OF HIS FATHER) in hausa language. He instantly went back online after his father left and continued chatting with her, he said to himself "THIS IS SOMEONE YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN PHYSICALLY BEFORE BUT YET HER VIBE IS SO REAL. WAIT...HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? WHAT IS IT THAT YOU'RE FEELING ANDRE?" A moment later, Anita came to the living room where he was sitting while asking. "HOPE EVERYTHING IS FINE BETWEEN YOU AND STACEY? BECAUSE SHE'S BEEN ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT YOU. I'M TALKING LOTS OF QUESTIONS, LIKE PERSONAL DETAILS AND ALL." Andre did a complete three sixty that he was surprised he didn't get a whiplash as he got up with the enthusiasm of a six years old as he ran to his sister. "BURST MY HEAD!!! WHAT WAS SHE ASKING YOU ABOUT, DO YOU THINK SHE'S INTERESTED?"Andre's guard is suddenly up when Anita smirked at him. What is she up to now, he thought while looking at her. "THAT INFO IS GONNA COST YOU SOMETHING BRO..." Andre looked at her as she kept smirking like the villain she is and he braced himself for what's coming next. TO BE CONTINUED.
