Accalia POV
“Oh my goodness!” I exclaimed, I never thought that could be the brother we were waiting for.
Although he seemed muscular, his actions made me think he was just a thief.
Felicia tried to help me stand up. I offered a hand but he pushed me away causing me to fall to the ground.
I knew I had made a very big mistake at this point and there was nothing I could do to make him forgive him.
“I thought you were a thief.” I tried to explain myself but Felicia shot me a death glare and I shut up immediately.
“Davis, I'm so sorry I left her alone in the house without proper orientation.” Felicia pleaded to her brother.
“I'm so sorry.” I tried again but both of them ignored me.
“You're just a bloody busybody,” Davis shouted at me.
“You don't even know anyone here and you're already trying to figure out who is there and who isn't!” He shouted in annoyance.
“Isn't that why I am apologizing?” I wondered.
“Next time you're in a new place, you sit your ass down and stop meddling in people's business.” He added.
“I wonder who brought you into this house anyway.” He concluded.
Felicia kept trying to beg him but he totally ignored her. She shot me a disappointed look.
“I'm really sorry Davi…” I tried to say but was interrupted by him.
“Don't you dare say my name?” He snapped.
I quickly cautioned myself and rephrased my sentence.
“Please, I'm sorry.” I apologized.
“Sorry for yourself! Just get out of my sight!” He shouted, his voice filled with anger.
I shivered at his voice and didn't know when I started to shed tears, he was the one that was supposed to be my help but he already hated me from the first time he saw me.
“You were rushing in and out of the house. It seemed suspicious.” I tried to defend myself.
“I should be the one hitting you because I don't even know you from Adam and you're in my f*****g house!” He responded in annoyance.
“What if you were indeed a thief? Would you have just expected me to sit down and watch?!” I shouted back in frustration.
I had already pleaded multiple times and he still wasn't having it.
‘Aren't they supposed to look at the bright side?’ I wondered.
“I'm sorry Davis, it's all my fault.” Felicia pleaded with him.
“Who is she and what is she doing in this house?” Davis questioned her.
“Dad captured her during his hunt last night…” She started.
“And you're letting a captive roam freely around the house?” The brother interrupted, confusion written all over his face.
“No, Davis. It turned out that she was just homeless.” She tried to explain.
“Does this place look like an asylum for homeless people?” He asked Felicia.
My heart felt hurt by his words but I kept praying inwardly that he accepts me into the house.
“No, but I was hoping she could assist us with one or two things while we provide her a place to stay,” Felicia responded.
He paused to look at me from head to toe. Disgust is written all over him.
“And whose permission do you have to bring in this good for nothing looking person?” He asked her.
“I already have Mum and Dad's permission.” She stated.
“Look at the farm, we cleaned it up together. The cows and the weeds, they are all cleared.” She added, pointing towards the farm.
“I don't care about any stupid farm. She is not staying here!” He snapped and stormed out of the compound.
Felicia started to run towards him and beckoned for me to join her.
“I promise she won't do this again. I believe she was only trying to help.” Felicia pleaded with him.
“She wasn't!” He snapped.
“I'm sure she was sent here to kill me! She must be a spy!” He added.
My mouth dropped open and I immediately fell on my knees.
“I swear by Luna, I am not a spy. I am just someone who runs away from home seeking a better life.” I said on my knees.
“To hell with you and your lies!” He snapped.
Her parents saw us and parked their cars to meet us.
“What's going on here?” The father asked.
“I should be asking you Dad because why did you allow a killer to be timing freely around the house,” Davis answered arrogantly.
I wondered how it was considered normal to speak to one's parents like this. I couldn't wait to discover what gave him the confidence.
“A killer?” The father asked, looking confused.
“Yes, Dad. She almost killed me when I arrived at the house.” He answered.
“I knew I wasn't comfortable having her around.” The mother muttered.
“She seems like a spy.” She added.
“It's the same thing I said Mum and she is.” Davis told her.
“I promise it was just a mistake.” O tried to plead with them.
“Mum and Dad it was only a mistake.” Felicia joined in.
“Of course, if she had killed me, I'm sure you wouldn't be joining her to say this.” He shouted at Felicia.
“What exactly is the problem? What happened?” The father asked.
“Speak for yourself! Spy!” Davia shouted at me.
I was filled with fear but also grateful I was given a chance to speak and justify myself.
“Sir, ma'am, I was looking around the house…” I started.
“Can you hear her? She was looking around the house! A spy!” Davis interrupted.
“No, I didn't mean it like that.” I objected.
“Let the lady speak.” The father cautioned Davis.
“Fine,” He said, lifting his hands up in surrender.
“Then I saw him rush in and rush out. I thought he had come to steal something so I tried to protect your property by accosting him.” I told them.
“Tell them what you did to me!” Davis shouted, startling me.
“I hit him with a pole,” I stated.
They both looked at me in amusement before bursting out with laughter.
“What's so funny?” Davis asked, staring at his parents in annoyance.
“She only hit you with a pole and you're already calling her a killer?” The father stated.
“I even thought she pierced you with a poisonous knife.” The mother hissed, looking at him disappointed.
“So we should accommodate her until she has the time to plan our murder?” Davis asked them.
“Davis, you're just overthinking it. Nobody is planning your murder. Trust me, we have examined her.” His father assured him.
He didn't look satisfied with their responses.
“The same way you examined the last spy,” Davis said, rolling his eyes.
“I've learned my mistake and Accalia here isn't a spy.” He responded.
“Oh, you even know her name. Nice. Everybody in this family now makes decisions without my input.” He started angrily.
“She will be working while staying with us, indirectly paying for the accomodation we give to her. Please give her a chance.” Felicia begged him.
“That makes sense, the farm has been looking so terrible lately.” The father stated.
“We've cleaned it up Dad, see.” She stated, pointing through the gate to the direction of the farm.
“Now that's impressive. I don't know about you Davis but I support her stay.” The father said.
“Same here.” The mother joined in.
“I too,” Felicia added while pouring to her brother.
“Whatever, just know I wouldn't help when she brings danger,” Davis said and walked out.
“He's just angry, he'll calm down.” The gathering said, partying on my shoulder before walking back to his car, his wife following behind.
Felicia turned to face me.
“Now why did you leave the room?” She asked me, looking displeased.
“I was bored. I just wanted to take a tour around the compound.” I tried to explain.
“Don't you ever go against my orders again.” She said sternly.
“Understood?” She added, drawing her ears.
“Understood,” I answered with a curt nod to show her that I comprehend what she was asking me to do.
“You can't go walking up and down without me. What if he had fought back or killed you before you had the chance to explain yourself.” She asked me.
“Guess I'd have died,” I answered.
She rolled her eyes at me before continuing.
“Just hope you get on his good side, you already made a terrible first impression.” She stated.
“And like I said, he is the only one that can make your stay here guaranteed.” She added.
“Understood,” I responded.
“I will try my best to make him like me at least,” I added.
“if you know what is good for you? Do just that. Davis doesn't joke around and he doesn't tolerate unnecessary excuses and mistakes.” She told me.
“You have to be on your best character throughout your stay here.” She continued.
“And most importantly, do as I say.” She concluded.
“Can I ask a question?” I pleaded with her.
“Is it a silly one?” She asked.
“Kind of…” I trailed off.
“Then don't.” She stated and walked back into the compound.
