Accalia POV
I took the cue to mind my business and joined her in the house.
“I'm sure you must have seen the other farms we have behind the house?” She asked me once I was in the room.
“Yeah,” I answered.
“We have to clean them before bedtime.” She stated.
“Alright,” I answered, like a puppy taking orders from its master.
“What will we be doing till then?” I asked her.
“We wait. Very soon we will start cooking.” She stated and started pressing her phone.
“Do you have one of these?” She asked me, pointing at her phone.
“No, we never really used many electronic devices back in our pack. The alpha was very strict when it came to radiation.” I answered.
“Too bad.” She said and continued punching on the device.
I was beginning to get bored but couldn't do anything about it. I just sat down there like a lost puppy.
Hopefully, one day she will teach me how to ride a horse and I will be using it to pass the time.
“What do you do for fun?” She asked, pulling me out of my daydream.
“There's nothing like fun in my life,” I responded sadly.
“Now that's horrible.” She stated nonchalantly.
I decided to use the opportunity to ask about the horses. I might be lucky or I might not.
I crossed my fingers instinctively before reaching out to her.
“Hmm Felicia, I would like to learn how to ride a horse,” I said, going straight to the point.
“You don't know how to ride one?” She asked me, looking very surprised.
I shook my head.
“Let's go look at them. It is quite easy.” She stated.
I was elated, I followed her joyfully to the stables and watched how she petted a horse.
“You need to make them feel loved before jumping on their back.” She stated, signaling to me to touch the horses.
The horse resisted and neighed vigorously.
“She doesn't know you. That's why.” She explained to me.
“With time, she will accept you.” She added.
Davis showed up from nowhere looking angry.
“I knew it was you that freaked out that horse.” He stated.
“She isn't used to her, that's why,” Felicia explained to him.
“I’m so disappointed in you for letting people into our life and business so easily,” Davis said to her.
“She told me she wanted to learn to ride a horse.” Felicia defended herself.
“And you don't see anything wrong with that? What if she steals the horses?” He asked her.
“I'm not a thief.” I shot back at him.
I was tired of having to deal with his immature behavior.
“Oh wow, so you now talk back to me?” He asked.
“I wouldn't stand here and watch you insult me,” I said angrily.
“I promise you won't last long here. I will make sure you leave this house and even leave the pack altogether.” He said and walked out.
Felicia shot me a disapproving look.
“I'm so tired of saving your ass.” She hissed and started to walk away.
“Felicia, I'm so sorry.” I apologized while following her.
We got back into the living room to see the parents wondering what was going on and why everybody was looking angry.
“Y'all can go ahead and get angry for the rest of the day but right now Felicia, you need to start making lunch.” Felicia’s mother said to her.
“Hey, Accalia, let's go to the kitchen to cook,” Felicia said almost immediately.
“I don't know how to,” I muttered.
I had never learned how to cook, most cooking came from our mum at home and the maids when I was with Alpha Ulfred.
“I knew she was good for nothing.” Davis hissed.
“Come, I'll teach you.” Felicia said softly.
I joined her in the kitchen and watched how she prepped the vegetables and meat.
“It's not hard. Cooking is like an experiment. You try out a lot of ingredients and pray it works.” She said with a little laughter which lightened the mood.
“Are you mad at me?” I asked her calmly.
She looked at me for a while before responding.
“Yes, I am. But then I remember that you're just a victim of circumstances and we are not brought up the same way. You still have a lot to learn about us here so I'll let you take your time.” She answered.
Now I understood why at some point she seemed angry and at some point she just let things slide.
“Thank you for always giving me a second chance.” I told her. I was indeed sincerely grateful for her help.
“You're welcome but just so you know, if you turn out guilty for any of the allegations my brother raised. I'll make sure I kill you myself.” She said, revealing her claws.
Her threat got me scared but then I realized I didn't have anything to fear since I was neither a spy or a thief.
We finished cooking the meal and went to serve it on the dining table. It was my first time ever serving a meal and it was nice to do.
I sat down beside Felicia on the dining table, we did a little prayer to Luna before digging into our meals.
“Pheasant meat, just how I like it.” Felicia's father complimented the savory-looking meal.
“Oh, Accalia made that.” She said, nudging me under the table to play along. It was obvious she was trying to make them love me but I would rather just show myself for who I really am.
“Oh h-m-m-m” I stammered.
“Drop the act, Felicia, this lady doesn't know how to cook. There's no way she made this.” Davis said, rolling his eyes.
I shot him a death glare.
“My step mother restricted me from cooking. She was more focused on me tending to animals because the man she wanted to sell me off to had a large animal farm.” I explained to them.
“Too much information,” Davis muttered.
“We're so sorry about that. Everything will be fine in no time.” Felicia's mother said to me, moved by the lies I had cooked up for them for my inadequacies in the kitchen.
We spent the rest of the day talking. Davis did more interrogation rather than getting to know me.
He still wasn't convinced with my cooked-up story and still didn't like me. I didn't get bothered much about him.
“Y'all are not seeing the loopholes in this story?” Davis asked them as I talked about my escape.
Luckily no one seemed to care about his concerns.
“You ran away because you don't want to be sold out to a strange person yet you're in a strange house with strange people?” He asked.
“Aren't you supposed to elope with the person you're in love with or something? Don't you have a council of elders to plead your case over there too?” He asked.
I was scared he was about to blow my cover but I figured more ways to defend myself.
“The person I took to be my lover was in love with my step sister.” I started causing everyone else to feel bad for me.
“Davis, she has been through a lot. Stop being difficult on her.” His dad told him.
“I can't believe you guys are buying this s**t!” He shouted in anger.
“I understand you're being protective of us bro, but you also do not have to be insensitive,” Felicia spoke up.
Davis growled in anger and for a minute, I was shocked. He seemed like a very powerful werewolf but didn't show too much since he wasn't in the face of danger.
“Whatever lies she had fed you all with, I hope you don't regret it later.” He concluded and concentrated on his phone.
Soon it was bedtime and everybody was preparing to sleep.
“I wanted you to stay with me, then I realized how much I love to sing at night. You will be so uncomfortable.” Felicia started.
My heart dropped, if she didn't let me sleep in her room with her, I would have nowhere to sleep except on the living room couch since their house wasn't so big.
“Oh, that's not a problem. I'm sure Davis would love to give out his room for a few days.” Felicia's mum teased.
“There's no way I will leave my room for this.” He said, pointing derogatory at me.
“We honor our visitors, remember?” His mum reminded him.
“She's not my visitor. I don't even have a say in this any longer.” Davis grudged annoyingly.
“Same way you do not have a say in where you'll sleep tonight. Enjoy the couch.” His father said and the duo walked to their matrimonial bedroom.
“Come, let me show you to his room,” Felicia said.
I turned a last look at Davis to see him fuming with anger.
“You'll regret this.” He mouthed to me before walking out of the living room in anger.
