When I woke up I open the Book of Prophecies, and go to where the maps are and after looking at a few of them I realise that I recognise some of the landmarks on one of the pages that show the entrance of Sparkonia. I know that I have about twenty minutes before anyone will notice me missing.
I teleport to the location that is outside the kingdom, but I can’t see it, all I see is a forest on one side and fields on the other. I notice that I am standing on a highway, but there is nothing else, no grand entrance of Sparkonia.
I start walking the direction that I think the kingdom might be, when I realise that I am still in Scotland and that I am heading out of Gruids and heading into Lairg, when I sense magic. I sense that there is a shield and an illusion a few meters in front of me, it is as if there is a place in between these two towns, but nobody can see it, they just pass through it like it isn’t even there. I reach inside my bag and retrieve the book and look for the kingdom in the book, and remember that the shield and illusion was put on the kingdom to protect the crystals from being stolen or corrupted, if anything evil tried to get in, it would be destroyed.
I hear a beeping sound and realise that my twenty minutes is nearly up and that I need to get back to the Academy before anyone notices that I’m not in my room.
Knowing where it is now, means that I can come back after I check my room, and it won’t take me as long to find it. I can’t let anyone know about this yet, I have to figure this out on my own, but I don’t know how long I can keep this from Godric or if I should. No-one knows that I can teleport yet, and Marcus doesn’t know how strong I am, he still thinks I am the weakest at the school.
After teleporting back to my room I notice that no-one has turned up or left me any surprise notes, but still I don’t want anyone to know that I am stronger than I am. I don’t know why I’m keeping it from Godric, so I decide to tell him later today. I seem to be keeping a lot from him lately and I don’t know why. He has always been there for me and when he needed my help I was there for him. He already knows about Queen Alina and that I am stronger than I am letting on, so why am I keeping stuff from him.
After resealing my room so I know when someone is going to knock on the door, and an alarm will go off and I can get back here. I teleport back to the place where the veil is but a little way off into the forest that is beside it and look around just to be sure that no-one has seen me or followed me.
I understand now why this place looks so familiar, my father and I had come here a few years ago because he believed that my mother was somewhere near here. I wonder why hadn’t I seen the veil then. Maybe it was because I wasn’t really looking, I had stopped looking for my mother about five years ago, I was sick of going place to place whenever my father got a vibe from her and we found nothing.
I slowly make my way to the veil and tested it, to see if I can even go through it. Why here? Why did Queen Alina come to me now and ask me to come here and to save the children and what children?
I push my hand through and I am able to see it shimmer on the other side of the veil and I go through the veil and find a dirt road. There is nothing but trees along the road, and the only way to figure out where it leads, is to go down the road. I don’t know what I was expecting, I know that Queen Alina told me that there is a castle, but all I can see right now is a road, there are trees on both sides of the road which carpeted the road with red, orange and brown leaves to show signs of that the seasons also affect here as well.
I have been walking for what seems like ages and find nothing (in the back of my mind I wonder if anyone will notice that I am missing), when all of a sudden I see an opening up ahead and I hear people singing and dancing from the opening. I am a little shocked because I’m not sure that there would be anyone here since Queen Alina told me I have to bring the children back here, but if they are already here then why would she come to me and ask me to bring them here, was it some sort of joke?
When I get near the opening I creep over to where there are some bushes, and hide there, I peer through the bush into the opening, and that’s when I see that the people are dressed in clothing from another time (like they are still from the middle ages) and there are some solders there as well, they are all walking around. It looks like some sort of market place, and I also see that there is a huge fountain in the middle. They are playing musical instruments that I have only seen in movies and are dancing the way they did in movies about the middle ages.
After taking another look around I notice that there are two roads other than the one that I am on. Coming out from the bushes I try to move around the edge of the opening without anyone spotting me, to get to one of the other roads or at least one of the buildings to grab some clothes, so I look like I belong here.
I only make it half way to the closest road on my left when an arm grabs me from behind. I turn and see someone who looks like a medieval guard, and he has my arm in his hand, his expression all but told me that I am not welcome here and that I am in big trouble.
“Hi.” I say smiling, I know how profound.
I try to put on a non-shocked face, hoping I won’t get into too much trouble, or asked too many questions about my presence. But seeing as my outfit is different I know that I don’t even fit in here.
“You are not from here!” He says in a deep gruff voice, pulling me roughly toward a horse and cart that is near the edge of the clearing.
I look around to see if I am able to find a way to escape, but I can’t find one. He shoves me hard into the cart and ties my hands up on one of the wooden slats on the side of the cart.
“You couldn’t loosen these could you?” I ask, more hopeful than anything else.
He doesn’t respond, he gets into the front of the cart and urges the horses forward. The people from the village just stare at me and whisper, I consider asking if they will help me, but to them I’m a stranger that shouldn’t be here, so I’m sure they won’t help.
After a few minutes I notice another clearing, which looks to be another market place and just beyond the market place there is a castle, and when we enter the market place everyone stops doing whatever they were doing and all stare at me, some are whispering, while others are just staring and pointing.
After a few minutes I recognise the castle, it is the one that Queen Alina showed me in her vision.
“Is this how you give a guided tour?” I ask trying to sound cheerful, but I think it comes out scared. “I should have come here ages ago.” I continue sarcastically.
Another guard walks over to us when we arrive. “The Queen has requested an audience with the young lady, and she told me that we are to treat her like we would treat the Queen.” He says bowing slightly at me while the guard hops down off the front of the cart and walks around to the back where I am tied up.
I smile at the guard who tied me up because he seems to be having some trouble with the order that he was given.
“What, but she is a trespasser.” He growls at the guard that is still bowing.
“Queen’s orders and you will respect her orders.” He says looking at him sternly but still bowed.
When the guard doesn’t make a move to loosen me the other guard stands up and looks at him.
“If you have a problem with the order given, talk to the Queen about it.” And with that he unties the ropes, and helps me down off the cart and guides me toward the castle, while the other guard follows close behind us.
When we get to the castle’s really big doors there are four guards there two on each side. The guards open the doors and the two guards that are with me wait for me to go in first. Then they lead me down a corridor and into another room where I see four thrones, two large in the center and two small ones on the outside of the bigger thrones at the end of the room, there are extremely long navy blue curtains that go from the ceiling to the floor on one side of the room covering the windows. There are two doors on the other side of the room and a door near the thrones.
After about five minutes a door that is near the thrones opens and I don’t know whether I am dreaming or if someone is going to come out and state that it is some sort of prank. I look around and see more guards (that I hadn’t noticed earlier) kneel as she walks in and stands in front of the thrones.
“Hello Selaria.” She says, as if it is completely normal to see me just standing in the middle of the room.
“You know her your majesty?” The guard that had grabbed me near the bushes asks sounding shocked.
She turns to him and says with a slight smile. “Yes I do, and thank you for bringing her to me.”
“Excuse me?” I ask, “He did not bring me to you.” I continue, I am still trying to get over the shock of seeing my mother and the way everyone is talking to her.
She turns to me shocked by the way I have spoken to her, and her guards move a little restlessly but don’t move toward me.
“Can everyone please leave the room?” She asks turning to the guards.
The only ones that leave the room are the two guards that entered the room with me, the other guards stayed where they are and then I notice an animal that sat beside her throne (is silver all over, it doesn’t look normal).
As the guards are leaving the room, my mother walks over to one of the larger thrones and sits down. She looks like she belongs up there with all the elegance and grace of a queen, now I can understand why my father couldn’t find her. I had trouble getting into this place and he might not have been able to see the shield and illusion veil that is there.
“How did you find me?” She asks smiling at me from the throne.
I got over the fact that I am looking at my mother and remember all that she has done and I look at her on the throne with disgust.
“I wasn’t looking for you.” I say bitterly. “I came here because Queen Alina told me to.”
Four of her guards start walking towards me (I guess they don’t like the way I am talking to their Queen, but I am still thinking of all the things that she did to me and my father), but they stopped when my mother raised her hand.
“Oh, and may I ask what she said to you?” She asks sounding a little hurt but not surprised to hear that name.
I can tell by her facial expression that she is upset by the way I am talking to her, but I don’t care. Dad is dead and she wasn’t there to do anything, when she had all these people here to do her bidding.
“No.” I say glaring at her.
“Ok.” She says, looking at me not saying anything else.
“May I go?” I ask glaring at her.
I don’t know how much time I had left before the Elders notice that I’m not in my room, and I know my mother won’t help me since she didn’t help my dad.
“Yes you may.” She says, tears slowly sliding down her face. “But first let me explain why I couldn’t tell you or your father about where I was.”
“Thanks, well I don’t need to be shown out.” I say turning around and walk toward the doors.
“Selaria wait, please.” She calls after me.
But I’m not going to stop, I don’t want to hear whatever explanation or lie that she is going to give me. My dad is dead and she didn’t even try to help him, what sort of wife would do that, what sort of mother would allow her daughter who had been trying to figure out where she was and why she let her father be killed, the one parent that never left her side.
No I’m not going to listen to anything she has to say, because anything she says won’t bring him back and won’t be a good enough excuse to not have helped him live. All she is going to do is make it harder for me to get over what happened to my dad.
I run down the steps of the castle and see a horse tied up near the horse and cart under some trees. After untying it I jump on and make it gallop as fast as possible back to the veil. I don’t realise how far I have ridden until I am at the edge of the veil. I pull the horse to a stop just before the veil, just in case the horse isn’t able to go through. I don’t want to hurt it, but I also realise that I have no idea whose horse it is or how it is going to get back. But right now I just want to leave and get to Godric.
I know I have to go back to my room, but I can’t, I need him, I have to see him and tell him everything. I am going to go straight to Godric. I hadn’t felt him when I went through the veil, and I missed his presence in my head. He seemed to have sensed it.
I am worried that he might have been mad at me doing something without him, but he isn’t mad, he is worried. I realise that when I came through the veil, and I can feel him again. He feels everything I am going through.
I use all my concentration and teleport to him. When I open my eyes I see him and he grabs me and he holds me so tight, I nearly feel like I am going to explode, but it feels amazing, I feel safe.
~
I couldn’t feel her and I had no idea what was going on, she hadn’t told me anything and I was starting to get worried because I had no idea where she was.
I suddenly feel her again and I can feel that she is upset and that she is coming straight for me. I see that she isn’t at the Academy but somewhere I don’t recognise, I sense her coming and I am not certain how she is going to get to me until she teleports straight to me and when she does she is in tears.
I see what had happened and she seems to be showing me everything, all that she has been keeping from me. I see that there is a woman that guided her to the place that she went to. Queen Alina, someone that is connected to her in some way, and then I feel that she is waiting for me to get mad for keeping all this to herself and not sharing this with me, but I know that this was something that she needed to do for herself and I’m glad that she is not hurt.
But then I start to see the flashes of her past as she is remembering them. When she saw her mother, she was confused and she doesn’t know what to think or what to do. She is shocked to see her, then happy but then sad because her mother hadn’t told her where she was or what she is doing and she was mad because with all the people that are protecting her, she could have used a couple of them to save her father. Her mother didn’t even protect her father which made her more upset.
She kept saying “Why, why, why?” I led her to my bed so she can sit down and I grab a chair and sit beside her.
She pulls her knees up to her chest and her face hiding behind them. I give my room a quick glance making sure that it is clean and happy it is, I put my hand on her knee so she knows that I am here for her.
She gives me a small smile and says. “She’s a Q-Queen.” Her face is streaked with tears and her eyes are red from crying.
I know what she means, but I don’t to say anything, she is upset by the fact that her mother hadn’t told her anything. I don’t know what to say or what will help, so I send an image to her so she knows that I saw it all and then I allowed her to feel what I always feel when she is close.
“What do I do?” She asks putting her legs down and looking straight at me.
“I don’t know.” Because I have no idea.
I am shocked myself, because I just found out that I am in love with a princess and I don’t even have a title.
“Hmmm, that makes two of us.” She half laughs-half sobs.
She moves over to the other side of the bed and pats the spot that she moved from, I know what she wants it isn’t just on her face but I also see it in her mind.
I get up from the chair and sat beside her. I pull her to me and hug her tightly. She grabs my face with both hands and kisses me harder, so I pull her onto me (which doesn’t take much effort since she is already trying to get on my lap anyway).
She shows me an image of her pulling my shirt off, so I push myself up so she can pull it off. It continues for about half an hour, her showing me images of what she wants and me allowing it. It keeps going until an alarm so loud sounded like an air horn being blown right beside us.
“Oh no!” Selaria yells, and I realise that it is coming from her.
“What is it?” I ask and then I see through the bond that it is her alarm that someone wants or is trying to get into her room.
“I’ve got to go.” She says grabbing her shirt and shoes, and putting them on as fast as she can, she is about to open the door when she realises where she is.
“Just teleport from where you’re standing.” I say grateful that she didn’t open the door, because if anyone had been walking past it would have been difficult to explain why there was a girl in my room.
She disappears and through the bond I know she is safe in her room and with a quick assessment of the room and the knocking sound that is coming from her door she knows that no-one has entered her room yet.
I go and sit down on my bed, so I can focus on what is going on with Selaria, I don’t want her to be alone right now.
When Selaria opens the door, Varsity is standing there (with her mocking smile in place). Varsity pushes her way in and stands in the middle of Selaria’s room.
“Can I help you?” Selaria asks, closing the door and turns to face Varsity (who is now looking around the room).
“There is going to be a party tomorrow night and I want to invite you to come along.” Varsity says looking at Selaria.
I hope she can’t sense me, but since I’m not in the room but seeing everything through Selaria’s eyes, she shouldn’t know that I’m watching what is going on.
Selaria is a little uncomfortable with Varsity there. “I would but I have a lot of school work to catch up on.” She says putting her hand on the door knob (to open it). “But thanks for the invite.” She continues and turns the knob of the door and is about to open it.
“Well, let me help you, so you can come to the party.” She says walking over to the desk and sits down.
Selaria is feeling even more nervous and wants Varsity out of there. This will mean that I am going to have to assist her in some way. I leave her and came back to myself so to speak and get off my bed. I am going to have to get the others to help me with getting Varsity away from Selaria.
I don’t need to go far, I find Ian sitting by the fire reading a book in the dormitory’s common room.
“Hey Ian, can you help me with an activity we did in first period?” I ask hoping he’d understand that I need his help with something else.
“Sure.” He says getting up and walking toward me. “Do I need to bring anything or do you just need me to explain something?” He asks when he gets to me.
“If you could get your book it would be a great help, but don’t worry I won’t be cheating, I just want to make sure that I understand it all.” I say and head back to my room and watch Ian head to his.
When Ian gets to my room he doesn’t bother knocking he just walks in. He has his book in his hand and is ready to write in it.
“What’s up?” He asks sitting at Derek’s desk.
“I need you to get the girls to Selaria’s room asap, Varsity is annoying her.” I tell him, I knew that she can handle herself but I don’t want her to blow the fact that she is more powerful than she’s letting on because of Varsity.
“I’m on it.” He says writing in the book. He looks up and smiles. “Done, Elarna is on her way there now.”
Going back to Selaria I notice that it isn’t just Elarna there, but Amira and Lucy are there as well and they are telling Selaria that they are sorry they are late.
“Thanks for that.” I say to him and then remember that he wasn’t at lunch today. “How was it with Elder Zarconian?” I ask, I feel responsible for him, well for all of them.
“It was ok, I just explained that I didn’t meet you until about a week after we arrived and that I didn’t always spend a lot of time with you.” He says and shrugs his shoulders as if it was nothing.
“He wasn’t too hard on you?” I ask, hoping that Elder Zarconian wasn’t.
“Nah, I just think he was hard on you because Derek was staying in this room, if he had been staying in one of the other’s rooms then it might have been a different story.” He says and then looks at the door. “Was there anything else you needed?” He asks looking back at me.
“Nah, thanks for everything mate.” I say nodding at him.
“Glad to help, oh and be careful, I know for a fact that Elder Zarconian is out for blood.” Ian says and then walks out the door.
I didn’t realise that it is that bad, but I should have known seeing as how I’m now being followed. I go back and see that Varsity is gone, but Selaria is a little worried and seems to have been waiting for Ian to leave.
“I just found out from Varsity that you are going to be taken by Elder Zarconian’s men tonight while everyone is sleeping.” I hear her say.
“Do you know why?” I ask, not understanding why he will be doing it, but guess that he found out that I’m part of the Rebellion.
“Not sure, she didn’t say.” I hear her say and I can feel the fear coming from her, but it isn’t fear for her, but fear for me.
“I’ll be fine.” I tell her not really believing it, but what else am I going to say.
I start packing everything important up and placing it on my bed, I am going to have to teleport out of here and I am going to have to do it as soon as possible. I can’t get anyone else involved or they will also get into trouble and we need them to stay here.
“Just grab as much as possible and so they don’t know where you are going I’ll send you to where ever you want to go so they can’t follow you.” I hear Selaria say.
I am relieved, I didn’t even think about getting her to send me like she had with Derek. All I was thinking about is getting out and getting out fast, I am glad that at least one of us is using our brains.
I just started getting my clothes stuffing in a bag when my door opened, I threw up a shield and I can feel that Selaria is ready to send me to where ever I was wanting to go, but then I notice that it is the guys and not Elder Zarconian’s men.
“You can’t be here, if they find out that you were here all of you will be in danger.” I tell them and hope that they leave.
But instead of leaving they help with grabbing my stuff and putting it into either bags or boxes. Which means that I had the whole room packed up before the bell rang for lights out.
“Don’t worry we will watch Selaria and keep her safe.” John says and the others nod their agreement.
One by one they shake my hand and quickly walk out of the room, Jordan is the last to leave.
“Can you get Selaria to wipe this room clean so they don’t know that we were here, and make it seem like you did it on your own?” He asks, when I nod he walks out.
I am so proud to have them all as my friends and have an amazing girlfriend. When I looked around the room I have flashes of when I first arrived and I can’t believe that I lasted this long without them finding out that I am part of the Rebellion.
“Yeah I can wipe it down.” I hear her say. “Are you ready?”
I can feel that she is really happy and when I look deeper I find that it is because I thought of her as my girlfriend. But it is true that is how I feel about her.
“Yep I’m ready.” I say and it is as if I had teleported, because one second I am in my room and the next I am in my uncle’s living room.
I hear running and I knew that my uncle and whoever else was in the house coming as well. I put up my shield and hope that it is enough for them not to hurt me too bad, then I feel another shield on top of mine which feels a lot stronger than mine and realise that it’s Selaria’s shield.
My Uncle nearly throws a fire ball when he realises that it’s me, lucky the only other people that are with him are my mother and Derek.
“What is going on and where did you learn to do a shield like that?” He asks, looking both awestruck and confused by it.
“I didn’t create it, Selaria did.” I say to them and then I say out loud for everyone to hear. “Babe lower the shield.” And the shield disappears, but she is still ready to put it back up.
“Wow she is powerful.” Uncle Charlie says sounding amazed. He walks up to me and pulls me into a big hug and asks. “What are you doing here?”
“Elder Zarconian’s men were coming for me tonight, so I had to get out of there and I had to get out of there fast.” I tell him hugging him back.
I hear a gasp behind my Uncle and look to see my mother who looking worried. “This could be bad Charlie.” She says.
“Oh it’s going to be really bad, this is going to be the first place he looks.” Uncle Charlie says starting to pace, which he only did when he was trying to think of a solution to a problem or if something isn’t going as planned.
“Where do you want me to go?” I ask and can sense that Selaria is waiting to send me to another location. “I should be fine to teleport to wherever I need to go from here.” I tell her.
“And what happens when they arrive and know that you teleported from the house, they will be able to find you.” I hear her say.
“Godric are you listening to me.” My Uncle asks sounding upset that I’m not listening to him.
“The bond is strong, Charlie give him a break.” I hear my mother say, from across the room.
“What?” We both ask.
“It was the same with Godric’s father and I, we had a strong bond, but I’m guessing that Godric and Selaria’s is even stronger.” She says coming over to us and giving me a hug, and whispers. “You are lucky, use your bond well.”
“We will.” I hear Selaria say.
“There is an apartment about an hour’s drive from here, I’ll give you the location and how to get in.” Uncle Charlie says walking toward the shelves near the doorway where they all came running from. “You could teleport from here to the location, but you will have to walk into the apartment, otherwise you won’t be able to get in and you will need to take Derek.” He continues walking back over to me.
“I’ll get Selaria to send us there.” I tell them and then ask. “You can send us there right, even though I have no idea where we are going?”
“As long as you have an address for me I can look it up and send you there.” I hear her say.
“Are you ready Derek?” I ask, hoping that he is or that he is close to being ready.
“Give me a couple of minutes and I’ll be ready.” He says and walks through the doorway.
I notice at that point that my mother is no longer in the room with us and wonder where she has gone, but before I can say anything my Uncle hands me a piece of paper and says with a look that means he is serious and under no circumstances is he to be argued with.
“This piece of paper has the address on it.” And then hands me another piece of paper. “This is the one with the password on it, whatever you do don’t lose it or let anyone else see it.”
“I won’t.” I say and see Derek and my mother come out with Derek’s bags.
So that is where my mother went to, she went and helped Derek pack so we can leave quicker.
“I love you honey, be careful and stay safe.” She says and then looks at Derek and says. “You too, and watch each other’s backs.”
With that he smiles and nods, he is never one for a lot of words, especially when it has to do with emotional stuff. And it isn’t something she needs to say, we always watch each other’s backs.
“Ok we are ready.” I say out loud so that everyone knows that we are ready to go and they are prepared for us to go. One second I am watching my mum with tears in her eyes as she is waving to us and the next I am outside an apartment building.
