Rushing to my room after lunch isn’t something that I planned. Hannah and the girls wouldn’t stop talking about the classes and they had heard that we might be able to go into town this weekend, but only a few at a time and we have to be supervised.
I haven’t been to town yet and I can’t wait, but I have other things to do that are more important, like going to my mother and seeing if either the Rebellion can hide in Sparkonia for a while or if she knows of another place like Sparkonia.
When I arrive at my room I notice that neither Godric nor Derek are there, after a quick check I notice that they are being held up.
“We will be there soon.” I hear Godric say, when he notices that I am waiting for them.
“Ok.” I say and start reading one of the books that my father had given me for my birthday.
I get halfway through the third page when they show up. I can’t help myself when they arrive, I run straight to Godric and hold him for a few minutes. Derek reminds me why they are here by coughing.
“Sorry.” I say sheepishly and walk over to my desk and put my book away.
I can feel Godric smiling the whole time, he is loving that I am always excited to see him, no matter how long we are apart.
“Yeah, yeah well I love you, get over it.” I tell him through the link.
“I love you too.” He says out loud.
I turn and see him smile and Derek looks confused and embarrassed.
“Are we going?” Derek asks shaking his head at what he just witnessed.
“Grab my hands.” I say walking over to them holding out my hands.
They both grab my hands and I teleport all three of us to just outside the veil hiding Sparkonia.
I know that they will not be able to see the veil, and that I will have to guide them through it. I just hope they will be able to walk through, and my mother will know of another location or allow the Rebellion to stay here.
I don’t want to see my mother again, I still haven’t forgiven her. I don’t know how my mother will react with who I’m bringing with me. But what am I going to do, not try? I know that it is going to be a risk bring them here, but it is a risk I am willing to take.
I scare both of them when I go through the veil, but they scare me when they don’t follow. I go back through, I guess getting them in isn’t going to be easy, but I didn’t think it was going to be this difficult.
“Ok, so what are we going to do now?” Derek asks looking around nervously. He has been a little jumpy since they got to the Academy.
“I’m not sure.” I say raising my hand I can see my hand, but through the bond I can see that Godric can’t see it.
“I don’t like the look of this.” Godric says raising his hand reaching for mine, but all he is grabbing at is air even though his hand is really close to mine.
Godric raising his hand to touch mine gave me an idea. I pull my hand out of the veil and grab his hand, and slowly with his hand and mine they both go through the veil. When I hear Derek gasp I know that his hand went through and through the bond I can see that Godric can no longer see his hand.
“Well I guess this is how we are all going to get in.” I say and grab Derek’s hand.
“Um do we know what is going to happen to us when we go in there?” Derek asks nervously pulling his hand out of mine.
“You have two options buddy.” Godric says turning to Derek. “You can come with us or you can stay here by yourself.” And then nods to me.
Derek grabs my hand. I know he doesn’t want to stay here alone and going in through the veil is a risk he is willing to take.
“Ok let’s go.” I say and start walking slowly through the veil.
As I walk through the veil, I can feel Godric and Derek still holding my hands. A few more steps and I see that they have made it through the veil as well.
“Is there any electricity?” Derek asks curiously.
“As far as I can tell there isn’t.” I say and keep walking.
Derek drops my hand and we find out that they don’t need to hold my hand now that they are through the veil. But Godric doesn’t let go, he starts rubbing his thumb in circles in the palm of my hand.
We walk along the road until we reach the opening of the market, which seems to have taken longer than last time. The market isn’t far from the castle if I remember correctly.
“Well I see that you are back, and you aren’t alone.” The guard says (the one that had grabbed me the first time I was here).
I turn startled and see him to my right. “I need to speak to your Queen.” I tell him nervously, hoping that he won’t question the guys.
Godric holds my hand tighter which gives me more confidence. “I’m right here.” I hear him say through the link.
The guard glances at the guys and then nods at me and walks towards the horse and cart that he took me to the castle in when I first arrive. At least this time the villagers aren’t staring at me like I am some sort of freak. I follow him and get in the back, Godric and Derek join me, Godric sits beside me and Derek sits with his legs hanging off the back.
When we get to the castle the doors are already open, as if she is expecting me, which doesn’t surprise me. The guard waits for us to get off the cart and then leads us up the stairs and into the castle.
We walk inside and I see the four thrones, and four guards, with the silver looking creature lying on the arm rest of one of the larger thrones.
I walk toward the thrones and notice that none of the guards stop me, all they do is watch me. When I get to the throne where the creature is, I realise that it’s not made of stone or metal it’s a real live animal. Without thinking I reach out my hand and touch it, to see if it feels like the animal that it looks like. It has fur and is extremely soft when I touch it. It even starts to make a purring sound as if it’s a cat while I’m patting it.
I have been patting the creature for a few minutes when I hear my mother. “They are called ‘The Light Guardians’”
I turn towards her. “Sorry I didn’t mean to touch it, I was just curious.” And walk back to Godric and Derek who are just standing there with shocked looks on their faces.
“I understand.” She says watching me. “You have returned, and with friends.” She continues and then gazes briefly at Godric and Derek.
Neither Godric or I realise that the guard is still here, but Derek had, and he does what the guard does and bows to my mother.
“Your majesty as you requested if she returned we were to bring her to you, but I wasn’t expecting the other two.” He says still bowing.
I look over to him and when I notice that Derek is also bowing, and I see through the bond that Godric was trying to figure out whether he is supposed to do the same thing, until I put through the bond that he shouldn’t bother now, just stand beside me and I’ll make sure that he won’t get blamed for anything. I see out of the side of my eyes that he nods once. My mother glances at both of us with a questioning look but covers it up very quickly but she doesn’t say anything.
She turns back to the guard. “I am glad that you brought them to me, you may go now thank you.” She turns to me and adds. “I am glad you returned, I didn’t know if you were going to.”
“I wasn’t but my friends got into a little trouble and I was wondering if you are able to help them.” I say keeping all emotion from my face.
I can’t show my emotions, especially since I am a little confused by the way I am feeling about everything I recently found out, and I know that if I keep all emotions from my face and think of this as just a business deal, I might be able to get through this.
“Well I guess we should head to a better place to talk then.” She says and turns around and starts walking toward the door in which she came out of. “Please follow me.” She says when she gets to the door.
I go first, Godric and Derek follow slightly behind me but on either side of me (Godric on my right and Derek on my left). I hear the guards following a few steps behind all of us.
We go through the door and down a long hallway. Every now and then my mother would turn around and make sure that we are still following (not that she couldn’t hear us or anything). The hallway has portraits along the walls (I am guessing they are former Kings and Queens). There are also doors along the wall, whether they lead to rooms or more hallways I can’t be too sure but I’m sure if I asked she would have told me. I don’t want to know too much about this place because I don’t want to stay here for too long.
Godric walks up beside me and takes my hand and making circling movements with his thumb in my palm again, he can feel what I am feeling through the bond. He is always there when I need him, which is what I am grateful for.
“Here we are, please come in.” My mother says smiling politely walking inside the room.
We follow my mother into the room. There is a large table in the middle of the room, a large map that covers the whole wall on the right side of the room, there are twelve chairs on each side of the table and a large throne like chair at the end of the table, there is a window close to the size of the wall behind the throne like chair and on the left hand wall is another door. The floor is made of stone but there is a royal blue rug that covers most of the floor, the table and chairs are in the middle of the rug and it stretches out so that there is about a meter or two of the stone floor that makes it look like the border of the rug.
She walks to the other side of the room and sits down at the head of the table. “Please be seated.” She says after she sits down. “Selaria you sit beside me, in this chair.” She says waving her hand at the seat to the right of her.
I sit in the chair that is as far away from her as possible. She looks a little hurt by this but covers it up quickly.
“Do you have any electricity here?” Derek asks. I look over at him a little shocked. He had sat down in the chair opposite me.
“Derek!” I say appalled at what he said.
I feel Godric walk past me and sit down in the chair next to me. We aren’t here to ask stupid questions. I feel a giggle pass from Godric when Derek asked the question.
“Not in a way that you would have outside the veil.” My mother says looking at Derek as if it is a perfectly normal question. She turns to me and asks. “So what do you need my help with?” Seeming a little confused as to why I have brought them with me.
She took me by surprise with the way she spoke to Derek, and I wasn’t ready for that question. “Well I need to find a place that the Elders won’t find.” I say turning to her.
“And how do you think I can help?” She asks giving me a questioning look, but seeming to know what I am going to say.
“I want to know if you know of any other places that have the same sort of protection that surrounds Sparkonia?” I ask taking a deep breath ready for the negative answer that I feel I will receive.
“No this is the only place.” She says sounding frustrated as if I should have already known the answer to that question.
“Well I’m sorry to have interrupted your day.” I say standing up. “We will be leaving now, thanks for your help.”
The guys stand up with a look of confusion on their faces the moment they see me stand up, and I walk toward the door to leave. I get to the door when I hear her rise from her chair.
“Maybe they can stay here.” She says.
I turn around and push both Derek and Godric out of my way so I can say what I want to say to her to her face.
“I would rather be tortured to death than have them stay here.” And I know that I have just crossed a line that I’m sure I don’t really want to cross. “My father died and you did nothing how do I know you won’t kill them.”
I can feel Godric trying to calm me down but I don’t want to be calmed down, I want her to know how much I hate her for not saving my father when I know she has the resources to do so.
“I’m sorry about what happened to your father but there was nothing I could do.” She says looking hurt by what I was saying to her.
“Don’t you dare lie to me, I know you could have saved him and for that I hope you rot in hell.” I yell at her and run out of the room, but instead of heading the way we came I headed in the opposite direction without even thinking about it.
I am really mad at her right now for not protecting him, and for thinking there was nothing that she could have done, when I know she could have, she has so many people and creatures here that can use magic, which means she could have done something if she wanted to.
I don’t know where I am heading, but I know that I need to get out of here and fast. I’m not sure if I am able to teleport, and even if I can I’m not sure how Godric and Derek will get out of here, or even if my mother would let them go if I just left.
I find a door at the end of a hallway that I just run down and open it. I run through and slam the door shut as fast and as hard as I can, hoping that no one followed me and if someone has, they will give me some space for a while.
I see that it is a garden that I have run into and it is beautiful. There are flowers that I have never seen before. I take a seat near a bush with flowers on it that look something between a lily and a rose, it has a marble colour effect of blue, red and green, the stem was a deep green colour with teal leaves.
While looking at the flowers I don’t notice another silver creature that has the head and front of the body of a cat and back body of a horse, but it is only as high as my knee, that is staring at me until I turn to the path toward a fountain after having a ‘someone is staring at you’ feeling. I don’t know if it is tame or if it is going to hurt me since I know nothing of the creatures. I stand and walk backwards watching it like I would if it was any animal that I don’t know and walk towards the door that I had come out of.
I can feel that Godric is on his way, he is asking my mother about the creatures. I’m not going to trust her judgement. I look quickly behind me and find that I’m not going towards the door but near the wall of the garden. When I look back I notice the creature is slowly walking towards me as if it is stalking me.
“Nice silver creature.” I say hoping it will stop coming toward me but it doesn’t, it just keeps walking toward me.
As I back into the wall the creature stops coming toward me, which I hope is a good sign, instead of it knowing that it has me where it wants me and is going to kill me. I hope that Godric, Derek and my mother get here soon and that my mother can control the creature before it gets any closer
The creature starts to shimmer and as it does it starts to change. Its nose is no longer a nose of a cat but was growing and its ears are doing the same, they are growing larger and larger. I stand there shocked and frightened by what I am seeing. After a few minutes the head no longer looks like the head of a cat but is looking like a head of an elephant, but it is still the same size as it was before no taller than just above my knee.
I can only just stand there, I can feel Godric urging me to run to the door as it was changing and can hear him ask my mother about the creatures and her telling him that they won’t hurt anyone unless they are going to harm the people here in Sparkonia, but I can’t believe her while I am staring at this creature that is changing form right in front of me, shimmering and as if a light is shining down on it.
The body of the creature starts changing now that the head seems to have finished changing. The fur is turning into scales and the paws are turning into claws. I want so badly to turn and run, but I am frozen with fear by what I am seeing in front of me.
It finally stops shimmering and I see an elephant looking reptile creature staring at me, I see something flick to the side and notice that it has a tail and it looks like a scorpion’s tail with the stinger on the end. My mother was wrong, this creature isn’t gentle it looks ferocious and scary. I look back at its face and see that its mouth looks like it is about to growl, which doesn’t seem right, but none of this is, its teeth are pointed and look razor sharp.
I can feel Godric close and I can sense him running as fast as he can. Neither of us know if he can teleport to me and he knows that I am scared. I start to feel as if someone or something is trying to get into my head. With Godric’s help I close my eyes and push them out and put up a wall so they or it won’t be able to get in.
I realise that closing my eyes might have been a big mistake, but the creature hasn’t moved, instead it is just sitting there staring at me. It doesn’t even look like it is comfortable sitting there, but it looks at me as if to say ‘I’m waiting’. I don’t know what to do and I know that Godric isn’t far and I’m hoping he will get here fast, because I feel paralysed.
I can see through the link and feel that Godric is nearly at the door that led to me and I can still feel someone or something feeling around the wall that both Godric and I put up, as if looking for a c***k or a weakness that they can get through.
The weird looking un-natural creature just keeps staring at me and not moving from where it sits. It stalked me like I was its prey from the bench near the weird looking flowers to this wall, but why would it stop and why isn’t it attacking like both myself and Godric thought it might have? Godric is glad that it hasn’t because it means that he has more time to get to me and we can handle this together.
Through the link I sense that it isn’t just Godric coming, but also Derek, my mother and some of the guards. Knowing that makes me feel a little braver, so brave that I let a c***k form in my wall, so that whoever or whatever is trying to get in can and then I can figure out who is trying to get in and I can either fight them with Godric’s help or stop them.
When I feel them in my head I knew that it isn’t a someone it is a something, and that something is the creature sitting in front of me, which doesn’t really make much sense. How it is able to push into my head, my mother didn’t really tell me exactly what they are, only that they are ‘The Light Guardians’.
“No!” I hear Godric yell from somewhere near my left, near the door that I had been trying to get to and that led me here into this garden.
The creature turns and looks toward him and I follow it’s gaze and see them all come in. My mother’s guards grab Godric and pulls him back, I am about to jump up and stop them when I feel something touch my leg. Godric looks angry and scared at the same time, I knew it is the creature and am too scared to move away not knowing what it is going to do.
I look at it and the moment I look into its eyes I see everything, its life from the moment it was born to now, its thoughts, everything that it saw and has ever seen. It isn’t dangerous and it isn’t going to hurt me, it wants to be a part of me and protect me like it is helping the others like it to protect Sparkonia. The images that I am seeing cloud my vision so I am no longer able to see out of my eyes and it is as though I’m not even in my own body but the body of the creature that touched me, the silver guardians.
