Chapter 14 Godric

3711 Words
She is running, but where I don’t know. She isn’t even sure where she is heading either. All she knows is that she has to get out of here and get some where she can think, and even though she knows that running isn’t the solution, she doesn’t want to say anything that might jeopardise us being somewhere safe from the Elders.   She feels that her mother could have helped, but right now she wants to be as far away from her mother as she can. I’m not sure if she could have helped because I don’t know if she could have known about her father’s death. Selaria is running, down corridors but she doesn’t know where she is heading, and I am trying to keep track of where she is going to so I can find her later.   Her mother gets up and makes her way to the door, but I know that Selaria doesn’t want to talk to her let alone see her at the moment, so I go to the door and stand in front of it.   “You may want to give her some time.” I say as soon as she is in front of me.   “I’m her mother, I know she’s upset and I need to explain why I couldn’t help and why I left her.” She says trying to go around me.   “I don’t think you should talk to her right now.” I say blocking the door way.   I can’t let her pass and go after Selaria, I know that right now probably isn’t the right time.   She clicks her fingers and says. “If you don’t move I’ll have you moved.”   I notice that a few of the guards start walking towards us. I know that they can move me if they want to and if I fight them I am sure that the Queen won’t allow us to stay here.   “Look just listen to him, he knows what she wants.” I hear Derek say from the table, he hadn’t moved from the table since we sat down before the meeting.   She turns to him shocked. “Excuse me?” She asks looking from Derek to me and then back to Derek. I look at him and he looks like he is a little tired, I know that the fight exhausted him and neither of us really got any sleep last night when we got to the warehouse, but I’m not sure how much it really took out of him, until now. I am hoping he won’t say anything because I don’t think it is the time or place to tell her that Selaria and I have a link, I don’t even think that we should be the ones telling her that, Selaria should tell her.   Before I can say anything or try to give him the hint of not to say anything about it he comes out and says. “He knows her pretty well and he has been there for her when she needed him and they tell each other everything.”   I don’t know what to say or let alone think, but it isn’t me that we need to convince to leave Selaria alone it is her mother. So it shocked me when she turns around and walks back to her seat and sits down with a huff. She isn’t happy about it, but at least she doesn’t push it.   “Well if you know so much about her and think it would be best for her to have some time alone then she will get some time alone, but she doesn’t know her way around here and she could get lost.” She says as soon as she sat down.   “I’ll go to her soon, but I want to know if you could have saved him if you wanted to?” I ask returning to my seat, wondering if she could have saved Selaria’s father if she wanted to.   “If I knew that he was in danger I would have tried to save him.” She says looking straight at me unhappy that I asked the question. “But I didn’t know and so I couldn’t save him.” She continues with emotion in her voice which doesn’t match her face.   It isn’t just me that I have to think about, it is everyone in the rebellion as well. I know that Selaria doesn’t really want us to stay here, but it might be the only safest place for us at the moment.   “I need to know something else.” I say to her hoping not to over step my boundaries. “Did you mean what you said before, about us staying here?” I ask looking straight at her, hoping she will say yes.   She looks at me and then at Derek surprised by what I said. “Yes I did mean what I said.” She says looking back at me. “I don’t say anything I don’t mean.” She continues with a slight smile.   Well I’m glad we are welcome but did she mean only Derek and myself, or did she also mean the rebellion as well?   “We aren’t the only ones that need protection.” I say to her, wondering how she will react with this information.   “There are others?” She asks sounding a little surprised and raises an eyebrow.   “Yes there are a lot of others, there is a group of us, we call ourselves the Rebellion.” I tell her, hoping that she will also allow everyone to stay here, and there is room for everyone to stay here.   She takes a moment to think about all of this, at first I think she is going to say no, and I am hoping she won’t because we don’t have anywhere like this place to go to.   “I would need to meet with the leaders of the Rebellion and talk to my people before I make such a decision.” She says smiling at me, but I can tell that it is a fake smile.   She keeps looking at the door, I’m not sure what she is hoping to see, but she isn’t happy about what she either is or isn’t seeing.   “I’ll contact my Uncle who is the leader and I’ll get him to make an arrangement for himself and the other leaders to be here at a time that suits you.” I say giving her the same smile and bringing her attention back to me.   I notice that Derek doesn’t say anything, but he is fidgeting which means that he wants to say something, but doesn’t want to interrupt the Queen or myself. I am about to ask him what he wants to say when the Queen spoke.   “Very well.” She says and then looks at the guard on her right hand and says to him. “Get the council together for an emergency meeting, I want to see them before dusk.”   The guard bows and then walks out the door without saying a word. I’m guessing that she is used to people doing what she says, a bit like the Elders. I look over at Derek and notice that he isn’t looking too pleased at what just transpired.   I look back at the Queen when I catch a slight glimpse of Selaria, she seems to have made it into some sort of garden and a silver animal is walking toward her, but neither of us know if she is in danger because the animal doesn’t look as if it is going to attack, but I want to make sure.   “These silver creatures that you seem to have around the place, are they dangerous?” I ask hoping that they aren’t because if they are I’m hoping to be able to teleport straight to her.   “No they aren’t, they are the guardians of Sparkonia, they will fight to protect us but they won’t harm anyone here that means us no harm.” She says giving me a questioning look. “Why do you want to know if they are dangerous?”   I pass on the information to Selaria who seems to have relaxed a little more. When I look over to Derek I notice that he is looking at me a little worried (I know it is for Selaria) so I give a small smile to show him that all is well.   “I just wanted to know what they were for.” I say but then I notice that she has caught onto the look Derek had given me and the look that I gave him.   “Is everything ok?” She asks looking at both of us with a confused look on her face.   She looks like she is getting frustrated when neither of us answer and motion to one of the guards. He walks over to her and she whispers something to him.   I can feel that she may be trying to figure out what is going on and that we aren’t truly honest with her.   “Yeah everything is fine.” I say to her hoping to distract her and stop whatever she is about to get the guard to do.   The animal walks up to Selaria, but she keeps trying to stay away from the animal, but for some reason it isn’t leaving her alone and she is getting scared and I don’t like that I’m not close enough to help her. I stand up and notice that the Queen does the same thing.   “Is there something wrong?” She asks this time with a little more force and frustration in her voice.   I don’t know whether I should tell her that Selaria was getting scared of the animal that isn’t leaving her alone. How would I explain it anyway? “Oh I’m sorry you’re Majesty but your daughter is being stalked by a silver animal and she is getting scared.” Oh yes that’s exactly what she would like to hear.   “I think we should go, I’m going to go and get Selaria.” I say.   I know that she is in trouble, but I know that she doesn’t want her mother knowing about us and our bond.   She glances between Derek and myself, and I know that she doesn’t believe what I told her. “If there is something you aren’t telling me, I will find out.” She says with the authority of a Queen, which sounds a lot like Elder Zarconian which I’m not liking but I don’t have time to argue with her, and with the men that she has around her I know it is an argument that I can’t win, and if I want the Rebellion here I have to tread carefully.   Derek glances at me and I shake my head. “I have told you everything that I can tell you, if you want to know more, ask your daughter.” I say as I turn and walk out the door.   I notice that the guards are standing on each side of the door as I exit, I’m not sure if they will stop me or not, but I don’t care Selaria needs me.   “I’ll have my guards find her so you don’t get lost.” I hear the Queen call after me.   I can hear her following and I hear Derek rise from the table. I haven’t gone far, but I’m not going to stop. I know which direction she went in and I know the path she took.   “Godric!” Derek calls after me.   I don’t turn around I just keep walking. I can hear them behind me and know that it isn’t just the guards following me, Derek and the Queen are as well. I can hear murmurings and know that Derek and the Queen are talking, about what or whom I don’t know or care at this point. What I do care about is the fact that Selaria is getting scared of a creature that isn’t normal and won’t leave her alone.   After the second corner I feel something or someone trying to get into Selaria’s mind, I don’t know why or who and neither does she, together we put up a wall to stop them from entering her mind. She is still scared and I can’t take it anymore, I have to get to her and protect her. I’m not sure if I am able to teleport straight to her or if I will end up somewhere else, so I run to her.   “Godric! What’s wrong?” I hear Derek yelling behind me.   After a few seconds I hear more running and know that I’m not the only one running, and judging by the noises that I hear behind me, it’s not just Derek, but also the guards and the Queen.   I’m not going to tell Derek because I know that it will be questioned by the Queen and I know that Selaria doesn’t want her to know that we have a link yet.   I finally reach the door that she went through and push it open, and that’s when I see it, the silver creature that has been stalking her. The moment I walk into the room, Selaria figures out what is trying to get into her head. It is the silver creature that is standing before her.   “No!” I yell, hoping she isn’t going to let the creature into her mind.   I don’t know if letting the creature in will break the bond that we have. I start trying to go to her when I feel hands grabbing my arms and shoulders and hold me back.   The creature looks at me and so does Selaria. I can’t believe that the guards are holding me back, and out of the corner of my eye I can see that they are also holding Derek back. The creature could hurt her, maybe kill her and they aren’t going to do anything to stop it. I have to do something, I try to use my powers to get out but they are using theirs to block mine somehow.   Selaria can see the rage and feel my fear, and then the creature touches her. It takes what feels like hours but is only a few seconds for her to fall to the ground. I’m not sure what the creature has done to her, but she isn’t moving and I can’t see her breathing either. I use my powers and succeed in getting out of the guards hold and run to her.   I try to throw the creature away from her, but it doesn’t move and it doesn’t attack me either, it just moves out of my way so I can get to her. I can’t see into her mind, it is as if there is a block there, but I can still feel her and she is no longer scared, she feels safe.   “What did the creature do to her?” I growl at the Queen.   How could she allow this to happen to her own daughter? I know she left her daughter when her daughter was young, but allowing a creature to do this, that’s just heartless and I don’t get the sense that she is.   “The guardian has bound her.” The Queen says just as coldly. “It is a great honour to become bound to a guardian, especially that one, she is one of the strongest guardians and she already has a mate.” She continues with a smile that I don’t like.   “What does that mean?” I ask hoping it doesn’t mean that she will never be allowed to leave this place.   I know that Selaria will find a way to get out, but I need confirmation and what did she mean about the guardian having a mate?   “It means that she will be stronger and she will be able to use the strength and power of the guardian.” The Queen answers looking down at her daughter. “She will wake soon.” She says looking at me and then smiling down at Selaria.   “When will she wake up?” I ask wondering if we don’t get back soon The Elders might find out that she is missing and we will all be in trouble.   I need to talk to my Uncle and Selaria, I’m not sure if staying here is a good option anymore, but it seems to be our only option for the moment and I want to know what Selaria thinks about us staying here.   “Soon, it depends on what the guardian wishes to show her.” She says turning and walking to the guards and then whispers something to them. One of them leaves, but another moves towards Selaria and myself.   I stand up and put myself between the guard and Selaria, I’m not going to let anyone near her and I’m not going to let her out of my sight either. I have already failed her by allowing the creature near her and not fighting hard enough against the guards.   “Please move so he can move her to somewhere more comfortable.” The Queen says glaring at me when I don’t move. I notice that she is getting frustrated again, but I don’t move, I’m not going to move. “No, she isn’t going anywhere.” I tell her firmly and when I do Derek walks over to me and stands beside me helping me shield Selaria from the guard.   “Yeah what he said.” He agrees.   One look and I know that he isn’t happy about what has happened either, and he is ready to help fight the guards. We are both prepared for whatever they throw at us, but I don’t expect to win, but I’m not going to go down without a fight.   “Fine, but she would be more comfortable on a bed.” The Queens says, but doesn’t push the matter.   “Well she won’t have needed to be more comfortable if this hadn’t happened.” I say to her angrily, but not enough that the guards try anything.   “Becoming bound to a guardian is a great honour and is sort after by all of us.” She says as if I have just insulted her.   “Oh really, well I don’t care, all I care about is keeping her safe.” I say looking down at Selaria. “And it seems the only thing you care about is what a great honour it is in being bound to this creature and not your daughter.”   “It isn’t a creature they are guardians!” She yells at me angrily by what I called them.   I can tell that she is losing her patience with me and I’m not sure what will happen when she loses her patience. I don’t care how angry I am making her, her daughter was scared and she doesn’t seem to care. Is that what happened when she left, she didn’t care about her daughter.   “Ok, well does this mean that Selaria can’t leave Sparkonia?” Derek asks quietly, sounding as worried as I feel.   We both turn to him, I know that I want to know the same thing, but I am too mad to think clearly and I am also worried about Selaria. I look at her and I can see and feel her worry.   “If she wishes to leave she is free to do so.” She calmly says to Derek. “Being bound to a guardian doesn’t mean that she can’t leave, it just makes her stronger and the guardian knows where she is at all times and what she is feeling and thinking.” She finishes, only looking at Derek.   I kneel down beside Selaria and see the creature staring at me, I push it out of my mind the only thing that I am worried about and that matters to me is Selaria.   “How did you know where she was?” The Queen asks changing the subject, trying not to sound angry, but she knows that I know that she is still angry.   Guessing since I am the one that went straight to Selaria, her question is directed to me, but I’m not going to answer and I look up at Derek and shake my head at him and he nods his understanding to me.   “Well?” She asks again, sounding frustrated when she doesn’t get an answer.   “That doesn’t concern you.” I tell her. Glancing up at her I ask. “Will we still be able to stay here if I don’t tell you?” I am hoping that we will still be able to, but I’m not holding my breath.   She takes a deep breath and turns toward the guard, who I didn’t notice return to the garden.   She turns and says “Yes you may stay here even if you don’t tell me how you knew where my daughter was.”   I know that staying here might cause some problems, but I have to think about the others and if it means holding my tongue then I am willing to do it. I just hope that Selaria is going to be ok with it.   When the Queen gets to the door where the guard is standing Selaria starts to stir, and the Queen walks over and stands beside Derek as I grab Selaria and hold her in my arms.   “Godric?” She asks a little groggy looking up at me and then closing her eyes as if it is difficult to keep them open.   “I’m right here.” I say holding her closer and blocking her from the view of the others.   “Take me back to the Academy and bring the creature as well.” She says opening her eyes again and then tries to grab the creature, but when she is unable to, the creature comes to her.   “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” The Queen says moving closer to us trying to get in Selaria’s view.   “I don’t care what you think, you stopped Godric from coming to me.” Selaria says and puts her head against my chest.   “Derek we are leaving, let’s go.” I tell him and pick Selaria up.   I turn toward the creature, not sure how I am going to get it to come as well, but I didn’t need to worry about that, because it jumps up and grows smaller and smaller, so it is about the size of my hand and lands on Selaria’s chest.   “Ok, are we going to the Academy first or to your Uncle?” Derek asks staring shocked at the creature that landed on Selaria.   I am equally shocked, but I have to stay strong for Selaria. “Academy, that’s where Selaria wants to go, then we go to my Uncle’s and talk to him regarding staying here.” I say and walk back toward the door.   “When you have the answer from your uncle about staying here bring Selaria with you so you can all enter.” The Queen says, not stopping us from leaving. “Also bring everyone, not just the leaders of the Rebellion.”   I turn to her and I see the hurt on her face of what transpired between her and Selaria. “I will, and thank you again for allowing us to come here.” And with that I turn back and leave.
