When we finally got back to the school I am fully conscious. I don’t know what I am going to tell Godric, but I know I have to tell him something. This creature is amazing and the things it has seen and is able to do are incredible.
“How are you feeling?” Godric asks sounding worried as he put me on my bed.
The creature moves to the side of my bed and sits there looking at me. I don’t know if I am ever going to be able to have the link with Godric ever again, but I am glad that I am still able to feel his emotions.
“I’m fine, it’s just a little weird right now.” I say looking up at him, confused at what happened.
He isn’t happy with the answer that I give him, but he doesn’t push it. “Derek and I need to go and speak to my Uncle about staying at Sparkonia.” Godric says kissing my forehead.
“Do you think I will ever be able to ever know what you are thinking again?” I ask worried that I won’t be able to hear him.
He turns and looks at me. “I hope so.” He says with frustration in his voice. He walks over to Derek and grabs his arm and they both disappear.
“Does being bound to you mean that I’m no longer bound to Godric?” I ask the creature, not knowing if it can talk back to me, or how it communicates to me.
“No it doesn’t affect the connection that you have with him.” It says though the new link in my head. “And can you please call me Irinduma, instead of creature?” It asks a little upset.
“Oh sorry Irinduma, I didn’t realise it was upsetting you.” I can’t believe this is happening. Irinduma’s voice is musical and beautiful.
“Thank you.” Irinduma says hearing my thoughts.
“Are we linked the same way Godric and I are linked?” I ask, hoping to get a better understanding of what is happening.
“Yes, but I’ll be able to give you more power, shield and cloak you, and no matter how far away we get from each other, I can always either teleport myself to you or teleport you to me.” She says moving closer to me.
“Why can’t I see or hear what Godric is seeing or hearing?” I ask moving into a sitting position on my bed.
Irinduma starts shimmering, the way she did when I first saw her shift. After a few minutes she looks like a cat, a silver cat, but she has a reptilian tail. When she finishes changing she sits on my lap, like a normal cat would.
“It will take a bit of time.” She says finding a comfortable position and lying down. “You and I have just bound and it’s not the same with you and Godric, you and Godric were born to be bound, I chose to be bound to you.”
“But I thought you said that we are the same.” I say, getting confused by what she just said to me.
I start to pat her like I would any cat that jumped into my lap. Her fur is softer than any other animal’s fur I have ever touched and with every touch I feel stronger.
“The way we are bound is the same, but how we bonded isn’t.” She says, turning her head slightly so I am able to scratch behind her ear.
Godric and I were born to be bound? How is that even possible? It seemed that with every question that I ask the answer gives me more questions and I don’t know which question I want or need to ask next.
“Isn’t that the way of life.” Irinduma says startling me.
“What?” I ask not sure what she means.
“Questions.” She says looking up at me.
“Oh right.” Remembering what I had been thinking about.
“Try meditating.” Irinduma says startling me again. “It might help with being able to see and hear him again.” She continues knowing I hadn’t understood what she is talking about.
“It’s worth a try.” I say and close my eyes and start to meditate.
I don’t know how long I had been meditating for when I finally see a table with Derek opposite me and hearing what Godric is thinking. I can’t see anyone else and a few seconds later I realise that I shocked Godric when he felt the connection.
“Selaria?” I hear him ask, when he settled down a bit, I can tell by the fact that Derek didn’t move that he didn’t say it out loud.
“Yep, Irinduma and I decided to try and get reconnected with you.” I say, feeling just as happy and excited as Godric that we are connected again.
“Yes!!” Godric yells out, I know because Derek startles and then gives him a strange look. “Wait who is Irinduma?” He asks.
“The one you called Creature.” Irinduma says through the bond.
“She’s the guardian I am bound to, but she prefers to be called by her name.” I explain to him.
“So now I have two females in my head, lovely.” He says laughing to himself. “Uncle Charlie is getting the leaders here so we can talk about your mother’s proposal and my Uncle doesn’t really want to take everyone.” He says in a more serious voice.
“Do you know when?” Irinduma asks. “It isn’t wise to keep the Queen waiting or not doing what she has asked either.”
“No, but it will be soon.” He says. He looks over at Derek and asks. “I have Selaria and Irinduma in my head, do you know how much longer until everyone gets here?”
“They are here and it’s good to know you have the connection back.” I hear Charlie says from somewhere in the room. “But who is Irinduma?” He asks. Godric moves so we can see him.
“Irinduma is the silver creature that is bound to Selaria.” Godric says following Charlie around until he takes his seat at the usual place at the head of the table.
“Wow, so now you have two in your head.” Charlie says grinning.
“Yes now I have two females in my head.” Godric says which made all them laugh.
~
Uncle Charlie might be happy that we have the connection back, but Selaria and I are ecstatic. We both felt lost when we couldn’t communicate with each other, when the link that we have didn’t seem to have been working.
“Now that everyone is here we need to discuss another location to hide in.” Uncle Charlie says after everyone takes their seats around his large oak table that he has in the warehouse.
He told me that the table has been in our family for generations. My many greats grandfather built it and was passed down from father to son, I never understood why Uncle Charlie never got married, I asked my mum once but she said to leave it alone.
“Do you know of another place?” Hank asks looking at me.
“Isn’t the more important question how did they find us?” Jaxson asks starring straight at Uncle Charlie.
Looking around, I notice that a few others are nodding their agreement to what Jaxson said.
“We have a Traitor in our midst.” I say to them knowing that it isn’t Uncle Charlie’s fault.
“How do we know it’s not your girlfriend?” Jaxson accused turning on me.
“Enough!” We all turn to Uncle Charlie who is now standing. “We don’t know who the traitor is, but I do know who it isn’t.” He continues and waits a few minutes before continuing. “It’s not Selaria but we think it might be Stella.”
I don’t know if it is because he raised his voice or not, but he got everyone’s attention. I’m glad that Uncle Charlie told them, because I don’t want to start an argument, we have more important matters to discuss with them.
After Uncle Charlie sits back down, he continues. “We have two options, we can look for another home base like the one that we had before that Godric and Derek were living in, but instead of them living in there we all live there.” He pauses for a few seconds, only long enough for it to sink in. “Or we can all pack up and we all move to a more secure location, where no-one, not even the best Trackers will be able to find us.”
“Yeah not even my dad could find it.” Selaria says. I am glad I have her back in my head, she helps keep me calm.
“How do you know that the best Trackers wouldn’t be able to find us?” Rebecca asks.
“Well we all know how great Tobius Minx was right.” I say looking around the table at everyone and see them all nodding in silence. “Well not even he could find it and he was standing right in front of it when his wife went missing, and he couldn’t even find her or sense that she was in there. All he knew was that she was in the vicinity.”
“When do we leave and how do we get there?” Hank asks looking at Uncle Charlie.
“We need to vote before we can do anything.” Uncle Charlie says looking around the table.
“So what, we have to pack up again?” Jaxson asks sounding a little agitated.
“Yes, because whoever the traitor is they know this location.” Uncle Charlie says glancing around the table and then back at Jaxson.
“It won’t be forever, just long enough to find the traitor and deal with them and possibly the Elders.” Derek says quietly, he said it so quietly that everyone just stares at him as if only realising that he is in the room.
“Ok let’s vote, everyone that wants to just find another place here and shield raise your hand.” Uncle Charlie says glancing around the table.
The only person that raised their hand was Jaxson, but he put it down when he sees that no-one else has raised theirs.
“Right, so we will all move to the location that Selaria found, if everyone can be ready to go by tomorrow evening.” Uncle Charlie says.
I glance at him and realise that we will first have to speak to the Queen and confirm that we can stay there, but when I am about to mention it he shakes his head as if realising what I am about to say.
Realising that nothing else is going to be said, everyone starts disappearing and going back to their areas. I am hoping that the Queen will do what she agreed to do and allow us to stay there now we have voted on it.
After everyone left Uncle Charlie turns to me. “We are going to have to go to the location with everyone and hope that the Queen will allow us to stay, do you think you can get Selaria to come with us?”
“I was going to come anyway since I have to and I still don’t have to go to classes, as long as I get all the work done and keep up with my training.” Selaria says.
“She has to come anyway.” I tell Uncle Charlie.
“Good, because I don’t think she will let us stay unless Selaria is there.” Derek says resting his head onto the table. “But I hate going through that veil, it’s freaky.”
“Yeah well at least we will know that we will be safe there.” I say pushing back the chair so I can get up and grab a drink.
I agree with Derek the veil is freaky, not being able to see until you get in there isn’t something I like, but we have Selaria and I know she won’t allow anything to happen to us.
“No I wouldn’t.” I hear her say calmly through the bond.
“I’m glad that we have this connection, I was afraid that we had lost it.” I tell her while pouring myself a glass of water. “I don’t know what I would have done if we had lost it.”
“I know, I’m glad as well. It didn’t even feel right without you there.” She says and I can feel the smile that I know is on her face right now.
“Do you think she will be able to get out without anyone knowing that she is even missing?” Uncle Charlie asks bringing me back to the room.
“Yeah, it will be easy.” Selaria says through the bond.
“She said that she has it sorted.” I tell Uncle Charlie and sit back down.
I notice that Derek has a glass of water in front of him as well, but I hadn’t noticed that he had gotten up.
“I didn’t see you get up.” I say to Derek.
I know that I wasn’t really focused on anything that was happening in the room, but I am positive that I should have noticed that he was around.
“He didn’t get up and you weren’t in danger.” Irinduma says.
“Oh ok, how do you know?” I ask her, not knowing how she would have known.
“Because you are bound to Selaria, I would have known if you were in danger and would have gotten you out of there.” She tells me.
“I used my powers to grab it, because I didn’t want to interrupt whatever you were saying to Selaria.” He says taking a drink. “I guessed it was either personal or it was too important to interrupt.”
“So what was it, important or personal?” Uncle Charlie asks.
“A little of both.” I say and take a drink, which I hope makes him drop the questions.
“Anything that we should know about?” Uncle Charlie asks, not taking the hint that I don’t want to talk about it.
“No, it was more personal than important.” I say and take another drink and then ask. “Shouldn’t we start packing?”
“I should, but I wish we had grabbed a few more things from the apartment.” Uncle Charlie says getting up.
“What did he want, if it’s still there I can grab it, or I can grab all of it.” Irinduma says.
“I don’t know if it would be safe even for you.” Selaria says sounding a little scared.
“They won’t even know that I’m there or that I was there, we can turn ourselves invisible and undetectable.” Irinduma says.
“Ok only if you promise to stay safe.” Selaria says. I can tell that she is still a little worried that something might happen.
“Uncle Charlie did you want everything from the apartment and house or just a few things?” I ask him as he gets to the door.
“What?” He yells, I can tell by his face that he isn’t happy with what I just asked.
“Irinduma said that she can get in and out of there without anyone realising that she is even there.” I say and notice that Derek has stopped breathing and is also shocked by what I said. “So she asked if you want everything or just a few things.”
“Oh and for a minute I thought you were offering to go back there and get the stuff.” Uncle Charlie says taking a seat at the other end of the table. He is clearly shocked by what I said to him. “If she can get everything, then that would be great, otherwise just whatever she can grab will be fine.”
I can feel that Irinduma isn’t happy with his answer and says. “What does he think I’m not capable or strong enough, how stupid and rude of him.”
“Ahhh you’ve just insulted her and she is going to grab everything.” I tell him, realising that it’s very easy to insult Irinduma.
He looks up at me confused and shocked. “I didn’t mean to insult her, I just don’t want her getting caught or hurt.”
“Tell him that he is forgiven and if he ever thinks I’m unable to do something again I’ll make him regret it.” Irinduma says and then blocks me from her thoughts. I can feel Selaria laughing, which is a good sign.
“She said don’t underestimate her ever again and that your forgiven.” I tell him and ask. “What would you like Derek and I to do since we don’t have anything to do?”
“Just make sure we have everything and help anyone else that needs help.” He says.
My Uncle stands up and leaves, leaving Derek and myself in the room. I expected the meeting to have gone better than how it had gone and I hadn’t expected Jaxson to have argued.
“You right man?” I hear Derek ask. I didn’t notice that he moved to next to me.
“Yeah I’m fine, just thinking about everything that has just happened in the meeting.” I tell him staring at my glass.
It felt like yesterday that I went to the Academy and my uncle told me that I had to keep an eye out on the others and keep an eye out for any students or Instructors that might want to change sides and join the Rebellion.
“You know that I know that look right.” Derek says fiddling with his own glass of water.
“Yeah I know, but I’m fine.” I tell him and pick the glass up and take a sip. “Everything has just changed and I’m worried about the others.” I continue and then drink the rest of the water.
I get up and put the glass on the makeshift bench, Derek is still at the table, just sitting there with his glass of water. I’m not sure what is going through his head right now. His dad has been captured by the Elders and now my mother and now the possibility of Stella being the traitor.
“Hey do you think we will be able to rescue my dad and your mum, or is that just wishful thinking?” Derek asks looking over at me.
“I don’t know man, I want to believe that we will be able to get them out, but we don’t know how they are being treated right now.” I tell him and walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder.
Derek has always been like a brother to me, I’m not sure if it’s because either Ezera was always bringing him over or my mum was always taking me over to their place. But I know that no matter what, we will always have each other’s back.
Derek pushed my hand away and got up. “We will try though right?” He asks.
“Of course we will.” I say confused as why he would even ask. “Why would you think that we wouldn’t?” I decide to ask.
“I was just making sure.” He says seeming a little happier.
“Even Irinduma and I will help.” Selaria says through the link.
“You even have Selaria and Irinduma trying to figure out how to get them out.” I tell him, which really lift his spirits.
“Hey Godric, can you ask Selaria if we can talk to her mother tomorrow please?” My uncle asks popping his head into the room
“Yeah I’m on it.” I tell him, wondering if he heard the conversation that Derek and I were having.
“Yeah tomorrow will be fine.” Selaria says through the link.
“Yep tomorrow is great.” I tell my uncle just before he walks away. He gives me a thumbs up and leaves.
“This is going to be interesting.” Derek says smiling. “It seems like Selaria doesn’t really like her mum and we didn’t tell your uncle about it.” He continues with a little laugh.
“Yep it is and I’m starting to think that maybe we should have told him about it.” I say wondering how tomorrow is going to turn out.
“It will be fine, I’ll try not to get too angry with her, oh and Irinduma just told me that they will be expecting us, and by us, I mean everyone in the Rebellion, not just the leaders.” Selaria says through the link, I can feel some of her frustration, but it is quickly replaced by happiness.
“They are expecting us tomorrow, I’ll go tell my uncle.” I tell Derek and walk out the room to find him following me.
“I’m going to pack all my stuff up and get ready.” He says and takes off down the other section of the hall toward the main area of the warehouse.
