Chapter 6 Selaria

3915 Words
After Godric and Derek last night, I started thinking about where I could look to find a place we could all talk and I had an idea on how we could get Derek out of the Academy, but I wasn’t sure if Derek would be willing to allow me to do it.   I turn over and notice that a breakfast tray is on my desk with a note folded on the plate. I look at the clock and see that it’s ten in the morning, whoever put it there had done so before I woke up, but I didn’t hear anyone come into my room.   I am hoping that it wasn’t from Elder Zarconian or Varsity, something from either him or Varsity isn’t something I want, but if it is from either of them I should have heard the alarm go off indicating that someone was either trying to get into my room or was at my door and knocking, but I didn’t hear a thing all night.   I get up and find out who had left the breakfast tray and note on my desk.   Dear Selaria, I used telekinesis to get your breakfast into your room. Dad sent me a letter and told me that there is trouble coming, and to be careful with whom you trust, or end up being friends with. Enjoy your breakfast we should talk later though. Hannah   “Well that’s interesting.” I say to myself as I start on the breakfast in front of me and feel glad that Hannah brought me breakfast.   I have to find a place where Godric and the others can talk after class. I look over the map again to see if there is anywhere on there that we can use so that they can explain more to me without us getting caught, and get his friend Derek to get out of here.   I can’t believe they are part of the Rebellion, and one of their people has been captured and my father was killed as a result. Buy why? Not even Godric could answer that question last night.   “Guess I’ll just have to have a look arounds the grounds.” I say out loud to myself after I finish my breakfast.   I get up from the table and walk over to my wardrobe, to find something to wear. I wish my dad was here, he’d know what to do and who to trust.  He did tell me to trust Godric, maybe he knew more than he let on.   Changing from my pyjamas and into my favourite pair of blue with faded white torn jeans, emerald green short sleeved top, the memory of the last time I wore these popped into my head. Dad was in the kitchen making breakfast the first weekend of school, we were both really happy, because I found out that a college was interested in me, but now, I’ll have to be what he didn’t want me to become, working for the Elders.   I put on my hiking boots and put up my hair in a ponytail, just in case it’s windy outside, I don’t want my hair blowing in my face. I walk out of my room and down the flight of stairs to the girl’s dormitory, and find that it is quiet. I hadn’t really looked at the dorm before. It is really big, with lounge chairs along two of the walls and four in the centre of the room around a table, some desks and chairs lined another wall and a really big fire place which is lit with bluey green fire, is on the other wall, I have never seen a fire like that before, but I had other things to worry about other than the fire and trying to find out why it is a weird colour.   I go over to the main door and walk out. I notice that the hall is also quiet and remember that everyone is in class.   I don’t head out the door that I came through when I arrived here. I decided to take one of the side doors and see what is out there. After getting outside I notice that we are surrounded by a lot of woodland.   I find three paths when I exit. The path that lead to the right leads to a garden, the path that leads to the left lead to an oval and the sports grounds, but the path that is in front of me leads to a stable that is big enough to hold at least a hundred horses in it. But behind that there seems to be a forest (it seems that the forest is a fence, it went from the edge of the garden and around to the sports grounds).   I walk around outside and can’t find a place for us to have a meeting. I need to know what is going on and who is involved, but mainly how I can help.   I hear the bell for lunch and head back inside to give the guys the news that I haven’t found anywhere yet. I walk through the archway to the entrance of the school. I am nearly to the door when I hear a voice calling my name, but whoever it was isn’t close to where I am it is as if they are screaming out my name. I turn around and can’t see anyone. I walk back to where the path split off to the different directions.   I look down the path to where the gardens are and don’t see anyone, then I look down the path where the sports grounds are and I still can’t see anyone. I look down the path where the stables are and I don’t see anyone there either, but I can still hear my name being called. I head back to the archway to go inside since I can’t see anyone and head to lunch.   When I reach the Dining Hall I look along the line to see if I can see any of the other girls or Hannah, but none of them were there, so I decide to just stay where I am.   While moving along the line I don’t notice anyone walking up to me, when Hannah stood beside me, she gave me a slight fright. I create a shield, one weak enough that it won’t show how strong I really am, but strong enough that I can prepare myself for anything that is thrown at me.   “Whoa, I was just coming to tell you that we have lunch for you.” She says backing off a little and has a confused look on her face.   “Oh sorry, I’m not used to people just walking up to me.” I say dropping the shield down.   “Selaria, that was really good, it seems that you can shield yourself, it’s weak but a lot stronger than the other stuff you’ve been doing.” He looks over at Hannah and says. “Well it seems that she just needed a little fright to get her powers to function to a somewhat acceptable rate.”   Hannah looks at me and then at Marcus. “Oh ok, I’ll remember that for next time.” She looks at me and asks. “Are you coming?”   “Well, Miss Minx I would like to see you bright and early tomorrow morning please, we will practice that shield of yours.” He says and starts to turn and leave.   “But I thought I was going to be given a few days off, because of what happened to my dad?” I ask a little surprised by what he had just said.   He turns around, and looks a little upset about what I said, “Yes, but Elder Zarconian feels that you should at least keep up your Personal Training, but you will not be attending classes.” He looks at me as if to see if I will challenge him, but I don’t. “Well then I will see you bright and early tomorrow morning.” He repeats and walks away.   I walk over to where Hannah is sitting. “So what did you get up to this morning?” She asks looking down at her tray, playing with her food.   “Nothing much, but the day is still young.” I reply with a sad smile.   I hear a huff from one of the girls, Naomi I think her name is. I have never been great with names, but I’m sure that I’m right. I notice that the others all look at their food when she huffed, I am shocked, did I say something wrong?   “What?” I ask, looking at each of them, but only Naomi is the one to say something.   “I think it’s unfair that you get to miss classes.” She says sounding upset and close to angry.   “My father was killed.” I say to her, shocked with what she said.   “My mother was killed last year and I still had to go to classes.” She says with the hint of tears in her eyes and her voice. “I think it’s unfair that you get all this special treatment and you have your own security, not even Varsity gets treated like you do, it’s like you’re the queen or something.” She continues, sounding both upset and frustrated.   This didn’t make sense, why would I be treated even better than how Varsity is treated, she’s Elder Zarconian’s daughter.   “What?” I ask, not knowing what to say, not even realising why this is happening.   “You didn’t know?” Hannah asks with a confused look on her face.   I look at each of them and see the same look that Hannah has. “No I didn’t, I thought it was normal that I would have some time off.” I say looking directly at Hannah.   This is even more confusing, how did they know that I have security, I only found out last night by Godric that I had security. I guess he isn’t the only one that’s been watching me. Even when I went for my stroll I hadn’t seen them. I start eating my lunch, hoping that I will be able to come up with some conclusion as to why I was being given special treatment, when Hannah spoke up.   “It could be the fact that she isn’t like us, only one of her parents has powers.” Hannah says thoughtfully.   “I suppose.” Naomi says, still looking upset.   You can tell that she was trying not to allow her tears to fall, but I can still see them. It was sad that she had lost her mother, I know how it feels, even though I know my mother is still alive, sometimes I think it would be better if she was dead.   We finish our lunch in silence, neither of us wanting to talk. Which gave me time to think about the voice I had heard, I can’t really talk to them about it, they would think that I’m crazy or something.   The bell rings to tell us that lunch is over, and everyone starts getting up with their trays. I join the girls and empty our trays and place them on top of the bin in the tray compartment and head out the door.   “What are you going to do now?” Hannah asks as we all walk together out of the cafeteria.   “I’m going to go back outside, it always helped me think and relax.” I tell her with a small smile.   “Is that wise?” Maya asks looking a little shocked.   “What do you mean is it wise?” I ask a little confused.   “Well with the attack on your dad and the fact that we have all been told that we can’t leave the Academy.” Maya says sounding a little worried and has a confused look on her face.   “She has her own security.” Naomi says and walks faster so she isn’t walking with us anymore.   “Don’t worry about her, she’s just going through a tough time.” Hannah says watching Naomi walk away.   “Well I better get going, I’ll talk to you all at dinner time?” I ask, hoping that we will.   They all nod and I head back to where I heard the voice calling my name. I wanted to see if whoever it was is still there and to find out who it was and what they want.   I am nearly outside when I feel Godric, I can feel that he is catching up with me, so I slow down and turn to see that he isn’t that far away from me.   “What?” I ask confused about why he was following me.   “Are you ok?” He asks when he reaches me. Before I can say anything he continues, as if what he asked needed an explanation. “I felt that you were upset and distracted at lunch.”   “I just found out that you aren’t the only one that has noticed that I have security and that I’m being given special treatment.” I tell him, feeling a little upset about it all again.   “Well we figure it out.” He says walking over to one of the windows.   “I know, but why, what makes me so special?” I ask more myself than him.   As if answering my own question, Godric whispers. “Well maybe Elder Zarconian knows that you are stronger than you are letting on and that’s why he had your father killed.”   We both believe that Elder Zarconian had my father killed but we just don’t have proof, but we both know that it must be because of me. The bell rings again bringing me out of my thoughts.    “You better get going, or you will be in trouble.” I tell him and start walking away. “I love you.” I hear him say, I look over my shoulder and smile but I keep walking, not saying anything back.   I walk over to the stables and listen to see if I can hear my name being called, but I hear nothing. I follow the path that leads around the stables and find a small dirt path that leads away from the stables and towards the forest. I follow the path until all I can see is trees.   “Selaria.” I hear but I can’t figure out where it is coming from.   I look around, and suddenly I see her, the woman from my dreams, and she is wearing the same clothes that I saw her in when I dreamt about her, a long green gown, and emerald green cloak, her hair was jet black and (she let it hang loose with only the front parts held back with some sort of clip) her hair was very long, her eyes are a very soft brown and her lips were a deep scarlet colour, but what is very shocking about her, is the fact that she looks just like me, we could have been twins.   “Hello!” I say to her, but she doesn’t answer me, I start walking towards her, but all she does is walk away.   I start walking after her, trying to see if I can find out who she is and why she is here, and how she knows my name.   “Hello, are you lost?” I ask.   But the closer I get to her, I realise that I can see straight through her as if she is a ghost.   I start running to try and catch up to her. But it doesn’t matter how fast I run, I’m not getting any closer to her.   She suddenly stops in the middle of a field that is in the forest, it looks to be at least twenty meters wide, and the trees have made what looks like a circle around the field. There is nothing but wild flowers, and a few logs that look like would have been where people would have sat and talked.   “You followed me.” She says sounding impressed.   “Isn’t that what you wanted me to do?” I ask wondering if I should walk closer to her.   “Yes it was, but I wasn’t certain that you would.” She says taking a step toward me.   “Who are you, and why do we look so much alike and why did I have a dream about you?” I ask, hoping she isn’t evil (since I have heard that many of ghosts are) but not a hundred precent sure.   “My name is Queen Alina, and you my dear are from my bloodline.” She says taking another step toward me, as if she is scared that she might startle me.   “Well it’s a pleasure to meet you your majesty.” I say taking a step toward her. “But how do you know that I’m of your bloodline?” I ask taking another step which makes her smile.   “Because of the magic that is inside you, because we look alike and because I also had a dream about you.” She says walking up to me and holding her hand out to me, as if wanting me to touch her (which is impossible since she is a ghost).   I place my hand on hers, not knowing if it is the right thing to do or if it is even possible. I expect my hand to go straight through, but it doesn’t, it’s as if her hand is really there.   “Why are you here?” I ask.   “I am here to show you where you belong and how to save our people.”   We suddenly disappear and I am no longer in the field, we are in a room that looks like the one from my dreams with her in it.   At a closer look I notice that the walls look like they are made from white marble, the floor looks like it is made from a polished stone there is a scarlet rug in the middle of the floor. There are a few chairs and a table at the other end of the room. A window looking out into a foyer, the window has scarlet curtains which are held apart with a gold cord.   I turn to Queen Alina who is standing beside a battle table and ask. “Where are we?”   “We are at the Castle of Sparkonia, this is where my father and I lived and ruled before the war.”   “I can’t be here you have to take me back.” I say walking over to her worried that someone will notice that I’m missing.   “We haven’t left the forest I am just showing you what my home looked like before the war.” She says, opening the door and walking outside.   “Why are you doing this?” I ask following her.   Remembering the dream that I had, seeing her saying goodbye to her father, who was going to go and keep those that would wish to use the crystals that they had, for evil.   “This is what it looked like before the war, before my father was taken away from this place.” She says, looking sad. She turns to me, “I need you to find this place, and I need you to free my people and save them before all is lost.”   I look at her, trying to figure out what is going on. “I can’t, I don’t know how to save them or even where this place is.” I say to her.   “I know it has been many years, but the people that are in charge are destroying the children of the Fae, and it needs to stop.” She says grabbing my arms.   “Are you talking about the Elders?” I ask her, worried about what she might do.   “Yes, and we don’t have long.” She starts pulling me toward another room. “We must hurry, as I am not strong enough to hold this in place, I must find the Book of the Prophecies, so you can find it when I let this illusion go.”   We walk into the room, and I find out that it’s a library, a very large library. “There is a book of Prophecies?” I ask trying to figure out where you would put such a book, and why it would be in here.   “Yes, ah here it is.” She says walking over to me with a large book in her hands. “This is the book and this is what it looks like. Do you think you can find it?” She asks, handing the book over to me so I can have a better look at it.   “I can try and find it.” I say handing it back to her, but when I do, I notice that everything has gone back to the way it was before.   “Good, I’m sorry I couldn’t hold it any longer.” She says and starts to fade away. “I will return, if you need me my child just call my name and I will appear if it is safe.” And then she disappears.   I start to head back and wonder how I’m going to find the Book of Prophecies and then I realise that I still haven’t found a place to hold a meeting.   I walk back inside and notice on my way in, a room that doesn’t seem to be locked or in use. I walk in and take a look around for a few minutes and realise that it’s perfect, no-one will see us in there and if anyone does come inside, we can look like they are helping me keep up with my classes.   I go back to my room and I see a note on my door. I grab it and head into my room.   Selaria, I don’t know where you are or what you are doing, but I don’t think it is wise to be seen with Godric or any of the other guys. Hannah   I don’t know what Hannah means, but I guess she saw me talking with Godric before she went to class. I wonder why she doesn’t want me to be near them, does she know something that I don’t.   I head over to my bed and hear a slight knock, I realise that it’s not on my door, but as if someone is knocking on my shields door.   “Yes.” I say, not knowing what to do.   One of the guys teleports in as if it’s normal to do so. “Hey sorry to just pop in but I wanted to know how things are going?” He asks standing in the middle of the room. “I found a place where we can meet.” I say walking over to my desk. “It isn’t anything fancy just one of the rooms that I thought we could use.”   “Cool, I’ll let Godric know.” He says watching me.   “How did you get in?” I ask looking at him.   “The same way Derek got in, but I thought I’d knock first to make sure you were in here, Godric said he didn’t know where you were.” He answers looking away from me, as if he was embarrassed in what he had just revealed.   “Oh ok.” I say and then remember the note that I received from Hannah. “I found this on my door, it’s from Hannah.” I tell him holding out the note.   “Well I don’t know why she sent this to you, but you can trust Godric and you can trust us.” He says and then hands the note back and walks over to the door saying, “If you don’t believe me just ask Godric, he’ll agree with me.”   I walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder. “I do believe you, but next time, just send a note, not yourself please.”   “Yes ma’am.” He says going a little red and stiff. “Shall I go get the others and then go to the place you think will be good to hold this meeting?” He asks moving away.   I can feel Godric it feels weird that I didn’t feel him when I was talking to Queen Alina, and as soon as she disappeared I felt him again. I am glad, but then I feel scared knowing that if anything had happened, anything bad he wouldn’t have known, and he wouldn’t have been able to help me and I wouldn’t have been able to help him. I know I haven’t known him long but he is all I have left, I don’t have any family left.
