I am glad that they told me about the Rebellion and what they are trying to do. What I don’t understand is that there is another group that is also trying to destroy the Elders, and why don’t they just do it together instead of being two different groups. Godric tried to explain it to me, but it was still a bit to take in.
I listened in on his conversation with his mum, uncle and Derek and then later on with Elder Zarconian. He won’t have to ask me to find out what happened to his friend, I was going to do it, before he can ask me. I just have to do it in a way that would seem like I want to know who killed my dad and if I can see him.
But I have to find a couple of books, the Book of Prophecies and one on teleporting, sending someone or something to another location is one thing, but I have been never able to send myself. My dad was going to teach me, but Elder Zarconian turned up and the plan changed. I also have to find this place my Ancestor was talking about and to do that I need to figure out how to teleport, but I have to make sure that it doesn’t bring too much attention to me and I have to answer questions that I can’t really answer.
I hear the alarm for breakfast and get up. I know after breakfast I have to go to Marcus and continue the power training, and now that he knows that I can produce a shield (which I’m sure he’s already told Elder Zarconian) I’m going to have to pretend that I’m getting stronger.
Training was the same as the first day, except Marcus also had me bringing up a shield. For the first ten minutes I made it seem like it was impossible to bring it up, but after a while I made an even weaker shield than the one I did in the dining room when Hannah scared me.
After a while Marcus believed that using my powers was starting to draining my energy and walked me back to my room, in fear that I might collapse on the way.
When we got back to my room he told me that I had to lay down and rest, and that he will see me tomorrow morning. I knew by the tone of his voice that he was worried, but didn’t say much more and left.
While I am lying on my bed doing very little I decide that it was time that I tried to find the city that Queen Alina had asked me to search for. I didn’t even realise I had fallen asleep until I look over at my clock it was two forty-five in the afternoon.
I get up and head to the library to see if I can find a book on teleporting for when I finally find the city that Queen Alina was talking about, I didn’t think that the Book of Prophecies could be at the Academy.
While walking to the library I notice that I am hungry, probably because I skipped lunch and head to the cafeteria on my way to the library to grab something to eat.
When I get there I end up getting a tray and grab a burger, fries, some salad and a coke. I know that I’m not going to be able to take it into the library so I sit down and since there isn’t anyone at the cafeteria I am able to sit anywhere.
I sit down near the window, I am glad that I am able to skip classes for a while, no-one would bother or stare at me, which happened yesterday, but at least at breakfast today it wasn’t as bad.
I can feel Godric which is starting to feel normal, he is in class, I can’t tell which one, because he isn’t really listening. I realise that I can somehow see what he is seeing, hear what he is thinking and feel what he is feeling. He is thinking about his mother, Derek, his Uncle and Ezera. It is as if I am in his mind with him, thinking about it all.
“You are.” I hear him say, like he was sitting beside me and I hear him say it out loud.
I hope that I’m not going crazy, and then I remember what he said when I found out that my father had been killed, he heard me calling me.
“Exactly, and no we aren’t going crazy, but I think the connection will come in very handy.” I hear him say, and I smile which might look a little strange to anyone who might notice, but I don’t care.
I am glad that I am sitting at the table near the windows. So I have a nice view and I can think about things without being watched or it looking suspicious.
The moment I finish my lunch I go to the library in search for the book. I hadn't been to the library yet, so I am a little shocked when I see how big it is. I thought it would be like any normal school library, but I should have remembered, this isn’t like any of the normal schools I’ve been to.
When I walk into the library there is a desk on the right with three librarians sitting in behind it, I guess it is about eight metres long. When I look up it looks like there are about nine floors, the first floor had twelve isles of books, and the shelves were from the floor to the ceiling. There are tables and chairs for people to sit at. Not even a public library is this big.
I see a set of stairs leading up to the next floor and I walk over to them and start walking up the stairs to see what it is like up on the other floors.
When I get to the top of the stairs I see that there are even more isles, I’m not even going to try and count them. There were desks up against the windows with chairs behind them. There are tables in the middle with four chairs at each table. I start walking through one of the isles not really looking at any of the books, just mainly in awe of all the books that are there.
I notice that there are more stairs and I keep going from floor to floor to see what is on each floor. They all seem to look similar, there are always isles and isles of books, some of the floors just had computers and desks, and others just had isles of books and desks. I am shocked by all of it.
I have never seen so many books in my life, and I wonder what they were all about and how they were categorised, but I know I don’t have time to worry about that, I have to look for a book on teleporting or something similar.
When I get to the eighth floor I look at the end of the room and see another set of stairs. I decide to start with the ninth floor, if I have access. Since there are nine floors I thought that one of them would be a restricted section.
I get to the top of the stairs and find that it is not restricted at all. I find scrolls, not books, and this time I see one of the guys there reading a book. I wonder if I should ask for his help in finding the Book of Prophecies, but decide against it, instead I am just going to say hello.
“Hey Jordan.” I say walking up to him and sit down looking at the book that he is reading.
He seems to be on a page describing how to track someone with magical abilities who doesn't know they have magic. It looks like a very interesting book.
He looks up at me and smiles. “Hey what are you up to?” He asks giving me a questioning look.
“I’m looking for a couple of books.” I say to him. “What no classes?” I ask confused.
The library is empty apart from the librarians and myself. I hadn’t seen anyone else in the library and I didn’t expect to.
“I have a free period, also known as study period.” He says smiling, for a minute I can’t tell if he was laughing at me or not. “What didn’t you have those at your last school?” He asks and this time I know that he is making fun of me.
“Ha ha very funny.” I say to him smiling back at him and am glad I am able to talk to him with ease.
“Have you spoken to Godric today?” He asks more seriously.
“Sort of, why?” I ask and can feel Godric’s interest peak.
He gets up and motions for me to follow, when we get far enough away from where we were sitting and in the centre of an isle he asks. “I was wondering how Godric’s mother is doing?”
I look at him shocked, I can feel that Godric is also shocked by what he said. “Godric's mum?” I ask, hoping he would be willing to share more.
“Yeah my mum said that Godric's mum and Ezera had a thing.” He says grabbing a book off the shelf. “She also said that Stella also has feelings for him as well, but Ezera doesn’t feel the same way.” He finishes and gives a scroll to me.
“Thanks.” I say taking the scroll, I can feel Godric through the bond and I know he is shocked that Daphanie knew something he and Derek just found out about by his mother.
“So I'm guessing you and Godric are talking about this.” He says and starts walking back to the chair he was sitting in. “Did he know about his mum and Ezera?” He asks when I join him.
I just stand there not knowing what I should say. He didn't know about his mum and Ezera until she told him last night when Godric called to make sure Derek made it to his uncle’s ok. Godric wasn't being helpful at all, he was still in shock.
“Can I ask you a question?” I ask him.
“Sure.” He says going back to his book.
“What do you make of Hannah?” I ask not knowing what he’d say and sort of hoping that I can still hang out with her, not that he has much say about it.
“No he doesn’t have much say about it, so you can still hang out with her, just don’t tell her all our secrets, if you want you can hang out with the girls from the rebellion as well.” I hear Godric say.
He sits and thinks about that for a moment. “Well I don't know, we don't know her that well. We didn't even know your father, but somehow he knew about us.” He looks away from me to the books in front of us. “I think we are just waiting for her to do something that might make us believe that she is on our side, other than help you out a great deal.” He continues and then picks up the book that he set down.
I notice that the scroll he gave me was for beginner magic thinking it is the end of the topic and start to read it and find it quite interesting.
“My mother is having her family watched closely to find out if they are on our side or the Elders side.” He says glancing at me for a few minutes then going back to his book.
“Oh ok,” the only thing I can think of to say, I know how profound.
I start rolling the scroll back up when Jordan stops me, I look at him and see that he is pointing at a section and notice it’s reference to other books.
“Jordan I need a book on teleporting.” I whisper, hoping that he will help me.
He nods and gets up motioning for me to follow him, and we go down two floors and then to one of the isles. What I don’t expect is him stopping abruptly. He grabs a book and flicks through the pages and hands it to me, pointing to the page and heads over to some chairs by the windows and I join him holding the book open to that page.
How to Teleport safely for the first time. Ahhh yes the book I am looking for. I smile at him when I look up and see him looking at me.
“So how are you doing with pretending you have very little magic?” I hear Jordan ask after a few minutes. I notice that he is putting his book in his bag.
“Ok, why did you hear something?” I ask him, knowing the only reason I am acting to be weak is because my father asked me not to show them how powerful I am.
“It’s going around the Academy, if you don’t pick up soon, they may have you training longer and not going to all the classes.” He says looking up at me with a worried look on his face. “I hear it can be painful.”
I nod at him and start to wonder if I should start to pretend that I am getting stronger now instead of later.
“Thanks for letting me know.” I say to him.
I get up and close the book, which he takes from me and starts walking away.
“Hey I wasn’t finished reading that book.” I call out quietly.
“I know, but if you are seen getting this book out, there will be more question that you do not want to answer, there is another book down that isle called How to strengthen your powers, get that book out.” He tells me and then heads down the stairs. “I’ll give this book to you later.”
I realise how grateful I am that he was here, when I notice that Godric has been watching the whole ordeal.
“How strong are you? And what are you capable of doing?” He asks sounding curious.
“I’ll tell you all about it later, my dad said not to show anyone how strong I am. He said to do things as if I have very little power and look like I am gaining more strength and learning new things here, even though most of it I already know.” I tell him heading to the isle to get the book that Jordan mentioned.
When I get to the isle I feel a pull, I don’t know how else to describe it, it is like there is an invisible rope around me pulling to something. As I walk along the isle I sense that I am getting closer because it’s getting stronger.
I keep walking but also looking for the book that Jordan had told me to get. I find it half way down the aisle, but when I stop it’s like whatever wants my attention isn’t happy and tries to pull harder. I quickly grab the book and then keep walking, I realise then that Godric can’t feel what I am feeling and part of me is glad and I hide it from him, but I’ll tell him about it later, I didn’t want to worry him at the moment, he has too much to worry about already.
I get to the end of the aisle and see it, it’s hidden under a lot of different books but it’s there, the Book of Prophecies. I walk over and pick it up. It doesn’t have anything written on it to prove that it is, but I have seen it before when I was with Queen Alina and it seems to have been the thing that was pulling me to it and after grabbing it I head for the stairs as quickly as I can.
I keep the book that Jordan told me to grab covering the Book of Prophesies so that no-one knows that I have it or so I don’t get questioned about it. I finally get to the stairs on the second floor when I see Varsity.
“What are you doing here?” She asks me when she reaches me.
I know there is no way of getting out of this. So I show her the book that Jordan told me to grab. “Trying to get stronger, and see what else I might be able to do.” I say to her. “What are you doing here?”
“How to Strengthen Your Powers and Find Out What You Can Do, huh?” She asks glancing up from the book, not even answering my question.
I know, the titles of some of these books are just stupid and whoever comes up with them needs more imagination.
“Yeah it seems that I am falling behind and since I am trying to keep busy because of what happened to my father, I thought I might and try and get stronger and see what else I might be capable of doing.” I say to her reaching for the book.
She hands it back to me. “If you need a partner I can always help you.” She says and walks off in the direction that I had just come from.
I am glad that she did and didn’t ask about the other book, but I notice that when I bring up my dad she tries to change the subject. Not that I mind though, because then I don’t have to talk about it, since it is still a sore subject.
I walk down the stairs to the first floor and head to the counter to get the books, I look around and see that there are a few more students there, so I guess that’s it’s study time or they have a free period.
I get to the counter and put both books on the counter. The librarian scans the book that Jordan told me to get and just passes the other one to me I was going to tell her that she hadn’t scanned it, but she hands me the other book and says “Next.” In a very deep throaty voice.
I walk away wondering if I should tell her about it, but decide against it. If she isn’t going to scan it and if they don’t know about it then there is nothing anyone can do.
I leave the library and head toward my room so I can start reading the book. As I round the corner Jordan falls into step with me and startles me.
“Here is the book.” He says passing it to me. “Just make sure that you give it back to me in about two weeks so I can give it back.” He continues and walks away.
I stare after him holding the book and wonder how long he had been standing there waiting for me. As shocked as I am I know I can’t just stand there staring after a guy with a book that I’m not meant to have in my hands. I start half walking half running back to my room hoping no-one notices me.
I finally get back to my room with the books. I quickly flip open the book that will show me how to teleport and find the easiest way to do so.
After going through the book I see that there are a few different ways of teleporting and it always depends on the gift that you have. I guess that I should be able to do what Godric did and teleport with fire or any other element, since I know I can do whatever nature does.
I try to go from my bed to my bathroom, but it seems that there is something else that I need to do, because it doesn’t seem to work. I try a few more times without success, and then I hear the bell for dinner ring. I know that I don’t have any more time to keep trying. So I go and get ready for dinner.
When I arrive at the cafeteria for dinner, I notice the girls already at the table and there is a tray full of food in an empty spot. Hannah sees me and waves me over and points to the food at the empty chair. So I guess that the food is for me.
I walk over and we spend most of the time with small talk, mostly them telling me what I am missing in some of the classes. They give me different ideas on how to get stronger and different things I can try to see what powers I might have.
But other than that dinner was just the girls talking about who they thought was cute, Varsity and what she was doing in class, who was acting weird and the fact that Derek has disappeared and the Instructors are asking everyone if they know anything to come forward.
After dinner the girls said that they would help me in the morning before my personal training. I don’t know how they were going to help me, but I am going to find out tomorrow morning. I am grateful that I am going to be able to go back to my room alone and read the Book of Prophesies, which I should have started when I first got to my room, instead of reading the other book.
It isn’t a book that I have ever seen before, it is different. It has an index that shows that there is a section on the history of Sparkonia, spells that were used for particular things, the different types of magical people, way to make clothes with magic more than materials and a section that had maps and land markings around Sparkonia.
I flick through the book to get a gist of what the book is about, but even though the symbols aren’t familiar I somehow know what they mean and can understand them. I read as much of the book I can.
I look at the clock and realise that I have been reading the book for three hours, which means that I have to go to bed, so I am able to wake up early in the morning for Hannah and the girls to help me.
I go over to my desk and empty the draw that is directly under the table and place the book on the very bottom and have all my papers and other books on top of it, in case anyone comes in and starts searching my room.
I head to the bathroom and get ready for bed knowing that Godric will be coming into my dreams asking me questions on what I was doing.
