ALEXA’S POV.

four years later.

It felt like the room was compressing me. I stood still in the toilet, and I froze in time as I saw the result in my hand: I was pregnant, and all I could do was allow tears to roll down my face. I cannot believe I got pregnant with a monster. I should have known there was more to Lex when he made me sign the contract without reading it.

Lex is a devil in human form; he only got married to me so he could access his inheritance. His mother hated me and treated me like trash because I was a nobody; she was involved in Lex’s plan all along and I was just a pawn in their game.

I couldn't control the tears that flowed from my eyes. Lex always warned me to take contraceptives after we'd had s*x; he hated to use protection, but I couldn't continue taking contraceptives every day. The doctor said it was dangerous to my health but Lex was less concerned. He never wanted me to get pregnant and have his child; he didn't want to have kids with me because our marriage was purely transactional.

“I am dead; Lex is going to kill me.

I rested my head on the toilet wall, and tears rolled down my face freely. I quivered with fear at the mention of Lex’s name because he became abusive the night after we got married. He didn't even allow me to see my mother’s body; they buried her without my permission. I didn't even have the strength to cry anymore because my body was sore. Lex beat me up last night because I refused to arrange the room for the arrival of his girlfriend, Tina. Tina was a model and Lex’s girlfriend. He was supposed to get married to her so he could access his inheritance, but she wasn't ready because of her career, so they agreed to pay someone to do it.

Four years of marriage with Lex felt like an eternity because I was in hell. The five years felt like forever. I wanted to run away, but there was no place for me to go. Lex was monitoring my accounts, and my phone was wired. He assigned three guards from Russia to go everywhere with me, and my freedom was seized.

I was lost in my thoughts, thinking of ways to hide my pregnancy from Lex because he would skin me alive if he found out that I was pregnant.

“Alexa!! Do you want to spend the whole day there? Come out before I drag you out by your hair.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I heard Lex’s voice. I quickly flushed the test strip I was holding before he saw it. I cleaned my eyes and washed my face, and before he could say another word, I was out of the bathroom. I tried to move past him, but he pulled me back and held me by the neck. I was shaking with fear. I didn't know what my offense was this time, but then again, Lex could beat me for no reason, and I hoped he wasn't going to do that now because I was carrying his child.

“I thought I asked you to pack your things out of this room. Tina is around, and I do not want her to see your things in my room. You know how hot-tempered she can be.

“I’m sorry; I will move them now.

“You better hurry, for your safety.

Lex’s grip on my neck was becoming strong; I was almost out of breath, and I thought I was going to pass out.

“Please let me go; I can't breathe.

“I own you!! I am your god! I will kill you in an instant if I suspect that you are trying to run away from me. Is that clear?

I was mute because I couldn't breathe; I was out of air.

“Answer me!!!

“Yes sir.

I muttered with my last strength; my voice was barely above a whisper.

“Good girl.

Lex left me, not minding if I fell to the ground or not. I stood up and went to pack my things into the guest room, and before Lex came out, I was done. Staying in the guest room was a good idea for me; at least I do not get to see Lex’s face often. I lay on the bed when I noticed a sharp pain in my lower abdomen. It was so severe that I couldn't ignore it anymore. I don't even know how far I have gone with the pregnancy; I needed to see the doctor immediately.

I changed into a dress and picked up my bag. I needed to look sick so Lex wouldn't stop me from going to see the doctor. I came out of the room and saw that he was having breakfast with his mom and Tina. Even though my mother-in-law hated me with passion, I still had to greet her.

“Good morning, ma.

She ignored me and the next voice I heard was that of Lex.

“And where do you think you are going?

“I need to see the doctor; I am sick.

“The doctor will come to the house to check on you; there is no need to go out.

“I need to do a scan so I need to be at the hospital.

“You better not exceed an hour.

I left the house wearing a dark shade because of the dark circles on my eyes. I was accompanied by the guards assigned to monitor my movement. I got to the hospital and the doctor was so sad to see how I was looking.

“I am pregnant, doctor. but I don't know how far I have gone.

"It's a good thing you stopped taking those pills; does he know about it?

“I would be dead if he did.

We headed to the scan room. I was four months pregnant, and I didn't even notice. I was curious to know the gender of my child. The sonographer gave me a warm smile as she checked.

“Congratulations! You are expecting a set of triplets!!
